  1. Wow, this is great! I feel like a kid in a candy store! How about closeups of the red brick tower behind the Tt sign? Specifically the flat side, the column structure at the front door, and the structure on the roof. Time permitting, I'd also like to see all sides and the archway of the white building with the slanted roof on the corner in front of the Tt sign. Much appreciated!
  2. Boom. I originally took the top part of the tower from the scene where a micromanager chases Joe the Plumber's plane past the downtown rooftops. Since I didn't have a good view of the radio tower above, I substituted the next best thing. :-) I really appreciate your pics! They help out a bunch! Thanks!
  3. I'll be happy to look at whatever you feel like sharing. Here's an updated tower based on your pics (much better!):
  4. Ha! That'll do it! And lightening fast, too. What software do you use?
  5. Wow! Those are fantastic! Thank you very much! I never would have guessed that's how it was built. I'll update my build, next opportunity I have. If you're up for the big gear, I can provide plenty of reference images. I could also put together a diagram, if needed. Let me know if you'd like me to provide that.
  6. Whoo! Sounds great! I see that you model your own parts. Would you have any interest in modelling the (non-existent) 60-tooth gear that WyldStyle uses on her super cycle? If you did, I could send you my model. If we put them together, we would end up with the only screen accurate model out there.
  7. ProfessorBrickkeeper--I'd appreciate any assistance you're willing to offer. I tried messaging you, but your profile doesn't have enough posts to accept a message. What's a good way to get a message to you? For starters, I'd appreciate a close up view of the feet of the radio tower on top of the red building. I haven't been able to figure out the criss crossing beams on it. All of the rest of what you mentioned sounds great, too!
  8. Man with a hat--Thanks for the comment! I have a few more Bricksburg buildings to go. Then I'm off to President Business' office tower. There will also be a train in there somewhere... :-)
  9. Here's another Bricksburg apartment building. It's a variation on Emmet's building in green with the original Town Hall front door and a roof. I have two more skyscrapers to go, and then I can put a couple of them together for a flying battle scene.
  10. krisandkris12--I'll see what I can get LDD to do. It tends to be the limiting factor with large scenes, more so than Bluerender. Maybe I can recreate some airborne battle scenes from Taco Tuesday.
  11. Ha ha! That was quick! One apartment building, coming right up.
  12. Here's skyscraper #5. What would you like to see next? Another skyscraper or an apartment building from Emmet's neighborhood?
  13. What a great building! I like the the front has some shape to it and isn't just flat. And you have a great use of color.
  14. A pie sounds good right about now. Can you aim one over here?
  15. Jersey Brick Guy -- Thanks! These are big builds. If you want to use them, one thought would be to scale them down to fit the space you have available. Here are some examples: Actor Builder -- I'm glad it's not my fault. :-) BrickCurve -- Thanks for the comment! More skyscrapers to follow!
  16. I identified seven different skyscraper designs in downtown Bricksburg. A few of them use multiple color schemes and rooflines, while others come in only one color scheme and one roofline. Every downtown aerial shot used these same seven buildings in different combinations. I posted the first one on this page: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114104&st=375#entry2565318 This is the second design. Next up: Skyscraper #3!
  17. Here's a skyscraper a bit further along in the construction process. The scaffolding is up and the windows are going on. Next up will be the finished skyscrapers from downtown Bricksburg.
  18. LegoManTroy--Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! I worked on this over the course of about a month and a half. I usually have several builds going at once at various stages. If I get stuck on one, I can work on another. Some go faster than others. With this one, the main part of the build went very quickly--less than an hour to create the main part of the building structure. Using LDD, it's very easy to place some plates, create one column, and copy it 11 times to finish a floor, then copy the floor vertically to complete the building. Also, having previously-existing builds like the crane, the tipper truck, and the cement mixer mean it's easy to add them into the build for detail. Need a crane over here? Cut. Paste. Need another tipper truck on that floor? Cut. Paste. Need some cement mixers? Cutpastecutpastecutpastecutpaste... Over the course of several sittings, I added more detail to the scene. What took the largest chunks of time with this were two things: First was the billboard. I had to cut and paste the billboard together from multiple frames of the movie (I cheated--I didn't re-create it. I just pulled it straight from the movie.) I worked a while to paste it together without having it look like it was pasted together. Then I had to Photoshop it into the image. And when I say, "Photoshop," I really mean Microsoft Paint, 'cause I don't have access to an actual copy of Photoshop. So, I had to fiddle with that for a while to get it to look respectable. Second, it took a large amount of time (probably the largest chunk of time) to position all of the minifigures. The main reason I don't show a lot of minifigures in my images is that I find it tedious to set up minifigures in LDD. It's challenging to find the correct decals for the face and torso, as well as to locate the appropriate hair/hat. Fortunately, these construction workers all wear hard hats. :-) Positioning all these figures is also slow going. Each one needs to be placed, posed, rotated through one or more axes, and given different colored "clothing" for variation. Ultimately, this scene required all of these workers, so I took the time over several sittings to place them throughout the build. In the end, there's a great deal more I could do with this scene (more minifigures? a city skyline in the background?), but I also want to move on to others. So, I called it "done" and continued with the next one. Withacee--Thank you very much! I appreciate you taking the time to post your comment. I have to say, I get as much enjoyment from interacting with folks in this topic as I do completing the builds themselves. Translation: Have something to say? Don't be shy! Go ahead and post it! :-) Next post: Scaffolding! Windows! More posed and strategically varied worker minifigures!
  19. Jersey Brick Guy--It's time for some more skyscrapers, starting with how they're built:
  20. What a great subject and a fantastic execution! Glad to see all those droids give you a hand... er, arm...
  21. Here's another building that we don't see close up in its entirety in the movie. The tower can be seen in the distance in at least three locations from Emmet's neighborhood and the construction site. The building itself can be seen in a demolished state in several locations on the construction site (there's two of them right next to the instruction holder). I had to do some major guesswork on the tower. This is the first time I intentionally left some details off a build--there are some criss-crossing supports on the tower where I just couldn't tell what parts were used. However, I feel the building itself is accurate.
  22. Very cozy--ready tho move in today!
  23. What a great build! Great details throughout. I especially like the flowers along the track. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you worked the lights onto it.
