  1. Actually I think they are more interested in original ideas, sets based on TV and Film are relatively easy to do, and they have a building full of there own designers doing just that 5 days a week, the original idea behind 'Ideas' was to see what people could come up with that wasn't currently being done by Lego themselves. To me something that is an original idea has a lot more attraction than something based on existing theme.
  2. Mine is now more a dark grey colour, as opposed to black
  3. Don't count it as building time, but time you've spent enjoying your hobby
  4. Looks good Clive, it's all started coming together. Have you tried speaking with Lego customer services about the problems you are having with 'Pins with Pin Hole' as they may have suggestions, or at least offer to replace the ones that were destroyed. This part is becoming very popular with the lego designers, the BWE has 35 and the Volvo has 31.
  5. Thanks Clive, I can see them all now, your making good progress and yes it is a big set.
  6. Don't know what's up with your pictures Clive, but they are not showing my end?
  7. Its coming on well Clive, and I agree with you the Axle Pin 3L with 2L Axle (18651) seems to be made of a slightly softer plastic than other pins and can be a bit difficult to fit (especially the half beams), a method that work for me is to lay the beam on a flat surface (if possible) and push the pin in. Contradictory the Pin with Pin Hole (15100) feels like it made of a harder plastic and can be difficult at times to fit.
  8. Maybe they should put it forward to 'Lego Ideas'
  9. I not fussed either way, I just wish they'd make the steps more comprehensive, current building instructions seem to stretch it out but only adding one or two bits at a time. Most pointless building step ever 42053 Step 10, in the studded days individual steps were quite complicated which added to the joy of the build.
  10. Hope things are back to normal soon Clive.
  11. Feel free to add me to the list of those that enjoy your ramblings Clive, and long may they continue
  12. Excellent little bulldozer
  13. I do spot a vital flaw in your plan - 2017 (and beyond) models
  14. I think looking at previous posts that Jim's aiming for the 1st December
  15. Can't speak with regard to 42056 as I don't have one, but 42055 with careful building and attention to all the steps that involve some form of friction of moving parts it can be made to perform as designed, plus there are ample opportunities for modifying it. I don't think it should be dismissed out of hand.
  16. Excellent build Clive, for me this is the all time classic Techinc set and mine has pride of place on display, I could never part with it. PS Either your photo's have been reversed or you Pudsey has his bandage over the wrong eye
  17. 1, 11L LBG beam left at the end of stage 2, double checked can't see it missing from anywhere, so they must of packed one extra
  18. Thank you
  19. My local Argos Did have two in stock - not any more
  20. Wow, didn't realise that this place existed, I must be in the smallest minority here in Eurobricks, 'older than dirt' and a 'Lady' I think I'v earned by badge
  21. Internal to the bridge are two frames (one either side) to which the scissoring rods connect, as the bridge approaches TDC the scissoring rods will take the strain and lift the far span to enable the bridge to be laid, once the bridge is in position the scissoring rods (which are held in place by an electric actuator) can be released by the driver, unfortunately a big let down of the system is that someone needs to leave the security of the armour to reconnect the scissoring rods, drivers would therefore practise recovering the bridge without the scissoring rods connected. PS I have been unable to find any photo's of the internals of the bridge but this video shows it in action. Edit - Grammer
