I don't know. Someone commented, either here on Eurobricks or the LEGO subreddit, that the press release would be at 3pm, but that's just from a single comment. Are the times recorded for Brickset articles EST? The Ferris Wheel and Carousel press release articles were posted at about 14:30 and 15:30.

LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
Terrasher replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The Great Hall that was revealed a while back? Or the big 500$ set? Did I mis anything? -
So the prices rumored are about 320 Euros, 380US and 480CAD. That's really steep for Canada. Though it makes sense with conversion (it's even a few dollars cheaper than it should be), I was expecting 450CAD at most, since TLG sometimes prices sets cheaper than actual conversion (the Death Star is 600CAD, instead of 640CAD). Press release on thursday. Only two days left.

Oh, my God. I just checked out the image that's on eBay, which has quite high quality, and yup, 88cm long (base) and 51cm tall. The issue of available space has suddenly become clear. EDIT: I just noticed the "Do not stand up" warning at the top!

4124 pieces? Holy smokes! I'll be scrambling to sell old LEGO sets for the next three weeks to afford this beast and the Ferris Wheel before it retires. May the TLG Gods be merciful on the Canadian market.

Check out the section just before where the light blue carts are. On top of some black plates, you can kinda see that, next to the coaster track that we can clearly see, there seems to be another section of coaster. You can also see, underneath that black plate section, the building technique that allows you to create a "drawer" mechanism to pull something in and out. Never thought about friction wheels. Thinking about it - you may be absolutely right. Having some small wheels with (maybe) tires would allow the train to be stopped. When turned, they should be able to get the train to the belt of the main climb. I wonder if adding power functions to the belt will also automatically motorize those little wheels, so the train can go round and round without the friction wheels needing to be manually turned every time the train goes back to the beginning. I'd love to see more side structures! Shame the Ferris Wheel and Carousel don't have any small game stands like the Fairground Mixer did.

Nice observation. I never actually paid much attention to that part of the set, but it seems you are right. I assume the second control handle you're referring to is the one that goes through the new-ish Ninjago-style fence? So we've got 2 out of 3 functions for the handles. The one with the circling arrows is probably for the belt allowing the carts to climb up the coaster, while the one going through the fence (?) operates the cart parking. What could the one with the arrow pointing left do? EDIT: Oh, it appears there's a handle right at the track exchange - I didn't see that. So there are 4 handles, 2 of which have been attributed a possible function.

Yeah, I agree about the tangled appearance part. What really put me off the first time I saw it was the clash between the white colour of the overall structure and the little bits of grey and black here and there. I know, if the coaster had been made brown, those black and grey bits would probably still be there, but at least they'd blend in much better with the rest of the structure. Then again, more-or-less traditional looking coaster would imply a lot more structure to represent the thousands of wooden boards that go into building such a ride, and that would have bumped the price up by a lot. I'm also pretty excited for the press release. Don't let yourself be let down if it's not tomorrow or during the week-end. I'd expect it to be on the 26th, just a week from now. If it's not then, I'll be surprised. One week to go (maybe)!

I was honestly put off by the colour in the beginning, as well. I was expecting the Rollercoaster to look more like the traditional, wooden ones. I'm hoping the press release will make it look much prettier than those leaks make it out to be.

The page just showed the larger Rollercoaster picture that has been uploaded onto another post in the subreddit. The translated text didn't add anything of substance. No price nor piece count. ------------ We've got a week to go until the press release on the 26th, if TLG follows the same last-thursday-of-the-month pattern from the Ferris Wheel and the Carousel.

LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
Terrasher replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A Droideka would have been awesome. Droids made with mainly technic parts would be cool. Sadly, it seemed like the canceled super battle droid's body was just one big piece, which would have been boring. Anyways, last reply I'll be doing in this thread concerning constraction figures and what should have been, since this is not a wishlist thread. Shame about the AT-RT's cancellation! -

I know some others like them, but it seems like the majority of people don't! I imagine that the time and effort that will be freed from constraction will be put into something else. Only two constraction sets that I assume may have attracted most people are the scout and the speeder bike, as well as the 501st clone with the AT-RT, but wasn't the latter canceled? Is there no way we'll see that set come to light? -
Ferris Wheel press release was April 30, 2015, while the Carousel's was on April 27, 2017. Both of these dates are the last Thursday of the month. My guess is we'll see the reveal of the Rollercoaster on the 26th, unless we're lucky and it's earlier.

Exactly. Besides having to consider new moulds and the Disney Tax, TLG will ask itself "how much money are people willing to pay for this?" -
I really hope TLG keeps releasing fairground sets for a long time. There is a ton of material out there! Personally, I'd be extremely happy if the next set were one of those rides where the seats are held by chains and fly around as the ride turns (like the one seen in the background of the leaked Rollercoaster image). I know someone made an Ideas project that was kind of like what I'm describing - a set like that would be amazing. A pendulum ride would be great, too.

Anyone count the studs to estimate the size? A redditor said about 48x96, which makes sense. I estimate the height to be about 50 bricks tall, so about 50cm.

Anyone wanting to see the picture, someone just uploaded it to the lego subreddit. Sort by new and it shouldn't be too hard to find. The Chinese website didn't say much. Nothing about size or price, I believe.

I think I understand how the track goes: it begins at the beginning (took me a while to figure that one out), then goes off pic to a U-turn thatvheads for the tallest climb, at the top there is another U-turn that connects to the fall where we see the dark blue train, then there are a few U-turns, all to the right bring the train down and back to the beginning. Long shot at explaining what the rest of the ride might look like. I hope I'm wrong, though, and that there is another high mountain to the left of the image. Have we got a price for this thing? Is it still 320€ / 385$?

There is a picture on the lego subreddit that seems to be of the rollercoaster. Red rails with a white structure. Looks really messy. Can't see the whole set. I wonder how big it is and I hope higher quality pictures end up revealing that it looks better than it does right now. Nice use of a beehive piece for cotton candy!

Yeah, if they gave us the option for the last 3 fairground sets, they'll certainly let us motorize this one. Anyways the only power functioned part would be the mechanism getting the train from the start of the ride to the top of the highest mountain and any other tall points.

When do you guys think the Ferris Wheel will retire? I'm on the fence about making a fairground, since my decision will depend on the rollercoaster's overall quality. Do you think the Ferris Wheel will be around until June?
