I've been on MocPages for several years and it's always been like this (used to be worse, in fact) but, for all the reasons you say, it's certainly my favourite of the Lego sharing websites. I think it'll keep on stumbling along for a while yet .

If it's a modern high performance car you may as well leave it as it is; that is how they're set up these days to counter the greater slip angles of the outer wheel when cornering fast.

Three cars shown by Milan to illustrate his point (2CV, Minor, Mini) are mine, and I regard them as Technic models because of their advanced functionality, not their aesthetic. A Model Team body on a Technic chassis about sums it up. In all three cases, there's a considerable amount of new studless parts under the skin combined with studded Technic to provide that functionality. You might call them mongrels...

Lots of interesting opinions here, and quite a lot I agree with... The point about the Modulars making everyone's layouts look the same struck a chord - they've never interested me for that reason. UCS Star Wars - ditto Technic truck models are great, but there should be a greater variety in the current range. Where's the forklift ? Backhoe ? Helicopter ? The cargo plane was good and we need more of this kind of thing that hasn't already been done many times over. With the exploding number of specialized pieces and different colours it's starting to look like the 1990s again; just with better set designs.

Serious piracy problem and its consequences

It's already been said, but you and your work are valued and respected hugely by AFOLs everywhere. Please don't be discouraged, maybe it'll be better to go print-only (I was surprised at the 1:7 ratio; makes it a no-brainer for me). AND DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YOU DOWN! They are beneath your attention. -
That's definitely the right way to approach it. OP was maybe expecting a Rolls-Royce for Ford money...

[MOC] 1:6 scale Mini
Nick Barrett replied to Nick Barrett's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It can't - it's just the 'starter motor'. That and the lights are the only PF in this. -

Thanks James. Yes, I started it exactly as you say. -
Being new around here, I'm not sure if I should post too much of my back catalogue, but here's a big model of a small car from a couple of years ago. Maxi Mini by TechnicNick, on Flickr Like all my large vehicle models, the chassis is studded Technic and I've included several functions under the System body. Studless Technic has proved very handy for the trickier stuff... Maxi Mini by TechnicNick, on Flickr That engine uses the old square 2x2 pistons and features every moving part of the real thing (wish the video on Flickr still worked!) It has crankshaft and pistons, chain driven camshaft, pushrods, rockers, valves, fan and auxiliary drive, even a shaft off the cam for the distributor with whirling rotor arm. It uses an M motor as a starter, operated from the 'ignition' switch inside the car. It drives the front wheels through a simple forward / reverse transmission. The starter can be disengaged. There's independent suspension, working steering (HOG via exhaust or by my odd choice of steering wheel), pneumatic brakes on the rear wheels, a working handbrake, seats that tilt, adjust and lock in place realistically and everything opens. The doors will latch closed, operable from inside or out. Maxi Mini by TechnicNick, on Flickr Maxi Mini by TechnicNick, on Flickr Maxi Mini by TechnicNick, on Flickr
