  1. Thanks Sci and yes Suzanne I agree. Herds would be cool but I'm not sure I see it happening. Be good to see this theme have some longevity though.
  2. Anyone know if there have been any leaked pictures regarding these sets yet? My kids have convinced me to invest in the minecraft sets. To be fair they do look really nice I think but I'm surprised that the prices never seem to drop much below the ssp. I luckily picked up most of the sets in the recent Argos 3 for 2 but does anyone know if they are selling well? I generally like to see some signs that a theme is likely to continue a way into the future before investing too much in it. These new set names sound very promising though! I wonder if they will do sets based on the new game. Or is it a direct competitor to LEGO worlds?
  3. Thanks for the info on these. My kids are now more excited about Ninjago than any other wave. After the quality of the last wave I don't blame them, it was awesome! Quite looking forward to dropping some money on these. I suppose the cartoon indicated that Jay would be a focal point of this wave.
  4. Yes actually they most certainly are. For casual fans who have only gotten into comics since the movie boom then Hyperion is no more obscure than Hawkman. And for long time fans of Marvel comics in particular he is very welcome, as is Captain Marvel.
  5. I don't think people should give up on the x-men. I've been a huge fan of the comics for 25 years now and am as gutted as anyone about the films not being part of the marvel universe but marvel haven't buried them as much as the conspiracy theorists have suggested. The comics still get a lot of attention as for many years they were marvels number one franchise, the characters still show up in marvel endorsed games, they have the most talented writer on their payroll in bendis and have had a terrific new cast of characters in all new xmen. TLG have already made two x-men sets so there is obviously no ban on them from Disney. The reason for a lack of sets so far will simply be a commercial decision. I'm not expecting much for the apocalypse film unfortunately as its once again not likely to be aimed at TLG's core market but I would still expect more sets to filter through every now and again. Keep the faith everyone. We will get these figures someday, they see this theme having the sort of longevity (potentially) that SW has enjoyed.
  6. What is the problem with AoS sets? is LEGO not a children's toy and AoS a relatively popular children's TV show? Why wouldn't you make it?
  7. Due to the cost of making it they would have had to have it available for the theatrical release of the film to capitalise on the advertising. I find it hard to see more sets for this theme.
  8. i am speechless! This is myu first post in months and I just had to say something. How well do they stand up to childrens play??
  9. I think Green Lantern is probably a given at this point. I'd love to see a proper Arkham style set to co-cincide roughly with Arkham Origins. Watchmen ain't happening, sorry.
  10. I've bought Orthanc for my little boy as a present but he won't actually be getting to build it until 2 weeks saturday which is killing me!!! Might have to get some of the summer wave just to keep me going!
  11. Yeah the new catalogue is out this month. Second half of the month although sets usually appear online a couple of days before. The lotr stuff should be showing up anytime now in some places. Probably Smyths, then either TRU or Argos.
  12. Well Argos always have a 3 for 2 on all Toys that is alligned to the start of the school summer holidays. The last couple of years has seen TRU counter with their own, although it usually is only a weekend long and sometimes only includes certain products of which LEGO is thankfully usually one of.
  13. The new Argos catalogue is out this month so the wait won't be long. I just hope they're in time for the annual 3 for 2 sales at Argos and TRU!
  14. While I think there is a possibility we may get something on Mount doom I don't think it will be anywhere close to that price tag unless they ever made it as part of a larger Barad dur playset. You could potentially have the tower with the eye, and an adjoining part of Mount Doom with the play feature you have described. If they did that it would be a pretty major set and I think you'd have to include Sauron, a fell beast with rider, Sam, Frodo, Gollum and an orc or two.
  15. Love the idea, just not too sure the line is well enough established yet to have something like that but who knows! I think Minas Tirith will be much like Hogwarts castle, 4 or so recognizable areas with a potential add on like they did with the smaller battle of hogwarts set. that way you get a decent model with playablity and probably something in the region of 12 minifigs or more. I would expect the four areas to be the Kings thone room, the tomb of Kings, a tower with beacon and maybe a courtyard with white tree. Figures would be Denethor, Faramir, 2 Gondorian soldiers, 2 Mordor Orcs, a battler troll?, and maybe an Easterling if we're incredibly lucky. The add on would be Grond at the gates with a nice section of wall that you could easily add to. Figures would include Gothmog, 2 orcs, 1 or 2 Gondorian soldier plus Gandalf the White)
  16. The LOTR line won't fade away without theire being a set with Sauron in it. He is the principal evil in the whole saga and one of the most prominent characters in the Tolkien universe! If they can make a figure out of the Mouth of Sauron then nothing is too obscure. Saurons "few" minutes in the theatrical release are still a few minutes more than the mouth received. The Balrog scene is one of the major moments of the first film and is a license to print money, of course it will be made. Probably the same goes for Treebeard. TLG need to milk large beasts/vehicles and playsets so I would expect Grond at the Gates of Minas Tirith and a brickbuild Oliphaunt too. I would also expect a molded fellbeast with the Witch King and Eowyn/Merry too.
  17. I don't think it's a case of the designers pouring all their effort into the minifigures but more a case of their marketing dept pouring most of their budget into the minifigures. The designers want to make great sets!
  18. I thought pics came out in July, most of the sets were available by November and the retailers will have their listings sorted well before that.
  19. In the UK you can get the Quinjet usually very cheap! And it's a fantastic set. You won't regret it.
  20. That is awesome Blakstone! Really authentic looking.
  21. Excellent point! The budget for building elements seems to be getting slashed anyway so why take even more out of it by changing materials unnecessarily?
  22. There will be more Ultimate Spider-Man sets. It's a successful weekly cartoon with strong marketable characters. Perfect age range too. I doubt Batman is finished. He's DC's most recognisable character.
  23. no it's not just the cut scenes from the game. I think the lego games have had a resurggence. I didn't like the latest SW offering but LOTR and DC superheroes were very good. I expect the Marvel one to be good too.
  24. i'm taking the family to Legoland windsor for a couple of days near the end of May. I'm really hoping the sets might be at the store by then. At the moment my son is saving up for Arkham Asylum but if he sees the LOTR sets then all bets are off!
