  1. Can I ask what brand these are/where you got them? Thanks!
  2. Strangely enough I will be moving to the east coast of the USA soon, though I'm not sure how I feel about it. I will be able to have more Lego stuff around the apartment though, so that will be good!
  3. That is really awesome, though unfortunately not super portable/discreet - my mom is not particularly a fan of toys/games/Lego stuff being shown off around the house. I love how you are able to label each franchise though, it looks great!
  4. Thank you, I'll take a look around!
  5. Can you tell me what brand you use?
  6. Question: How does everyone store their Dimensions figures and mini builds so they are both accessible for playing with and in some sort of order/organization? I've been using these: http://sterilite.com/SelectProduct.html?id=831&ProductCategory=274&section=1 But they've gotten to be a little unwieldily and disorganized the more different types of sets we get for Dimensions. Any suggestions?
  7. I'd love a team pack with Sara Jane Smith and Luke. Mr. Smith could be one of the items that comes with it. We already have K-9, so I'm not sure what the vehicle would be.
  8. Lloyd does come out in the 5th wave - which I'm looking forward to because I like the dragons. Bane is kind of nice. We haven't had a real Bane figure since 2013 (not including the short leg one from the micro fighters). Slimer is also kind of cool - something we haven't had before except in the huge Ghostbusters set. I'm actually still looking forward to the fifth wave and beyond.
  9. When I spoke with customer service regarding a different issue, they said that they had closed bricks and pieces until their piece division got caught back up with all of the missing/broken piece issues from the holiday rush. Hopefully they'll be back up for purchasing in February.
  10. Alternatively, you could let yourself look through the instruction book once and then build from memory - could even add a "phone a friend" feature where someone gets to look up part of the instructions and describe to you what needs to go where. (Nah, that's kind of silly :D ) I'm fond of the dump everything in a pile and build from there, but if you'd like to prolong your building experience, bricklinking larger sets can certainly do that. I just finished Bricklinking R2-D2 (the ~2000 piece UCS one) and it took close to a month between digging through parts that I already had, making bits that I could as pieces arrived in the mail, and then searching everywhere for things I was "sure" I had and then having to make another bricklink order. It was fun! (Actually, it really was fun, no matter how sarcastic that sounds.) I've also found that I'm much more willing to say "Nah, I want to do it this way instead" when I'm Bricklinking sets and making modifications to designs that Lego has made.
  11. Oh!! Okay, that makes sense! Thanks for letting us know!
  12. Why would Skyra have an Earth dragon though if she's a wind elf? (or at least I think she's a wind elf because she has a sky castle?)
  13. I was having the same problem but I got lucky and found it at Target yesterday (I'm in Utah, but I'm not sure if they have Target where you are at). I'd go for the whole set. I got and built it yesterday, and it's a pretty nice build and it has a lot of dark red.
  14. Elves (dragons!!!), Brick Bank, some of the Avengers: Civil Wars line (new Falcon figure!), and the new Minecraft set that has all the dark red pieces.
  15. I think my very first set would have been http://brickset.com/sets/6416-1/Poolside-Paradise I would have been seven years old at the time, which sounds about right to my memory. The things I remember most are "drowning" the minifigs in the pool, and having a hard time getting the spiral stars to connect to the top level without breaking the first level. I loved the parrot.
  16. This is incredible! I adore all the little details: the vending machines, the area where the students can store their bikes, the hooks on the wall for student bags. Very well done!
  17. A couple of coinciding factors brought me back to Lego as an adult: - Graduating from college and moving out of the dormitories (there is not a lot of room in there, to say the least). - Getting a better job (aka, not minimum wage and having my work hours semi-limited by a class schedule). - Seeing the Diagon Alley set and the 4th Harry Potter Castle set. I will never regret those being my first adult Lego purchases and I haven't looked back since.
  18. Ooo, same here! My Lonely Mountain is tucked in my closet with about 30 other unopened sets that I've been saving for just the right moment (which really means, when I have a few hours of quiet time to myself to enjoy building.) Hence the backlog of sets I've been waiting to build - working 50 hour work weeks is great for being able to buy Lego, less great for having time to build and MOC.
  19. I dump it all out. :D I also enjoy bricklinking large sets. Which is why my room is such a disaster right now. :D
  20. That's the really nice thing about Lego; it tends to retain it's value over long periods of time (and sometimes even grow in value!). My grandma passed last year and she had collected all these little ceramic tea sets and tiny dolls and tiny ceramic things I don't even have the words to describe. I thought my Lego collection was a getting a bit over the top, but it's nothing next to the ceramic stuff my grandma had in her house. We tried to sell some of it, but in general it didn't have much monetary value so we wound up donating the vast majority of it. So, upon our passing, at least someone can make some money if they don't want to keep the Lego collections - and that means other people get a chance to experience some of the older sets some of us had collected during our lives. Win - Win.
  21. Fortunately my cat hasn't pissed on or in the Lego yet, but she did pee on my box set of Buffy The Vampire Slayer... Slightly more on topic: 285 sets, approx 87,000 pieces. I know the piece count is off by quite a bit thanks to some bulk buys and such, but I haven't a clue by how much. Maybe an additional 7,500 to 10,000 pieces.
  22. I want a Scrappy Doo figure, tiny puppy!
  23. The hidden features (like the tree raising and the mountain opening for a lair) are adorable! I love it!
  24. I'm not fond of the raised baseplates, I prefer to use BURP pieces and such to create raised areas. On a similar note, does anyone have any ideas about how to determine how high and such raised areas of the old raised baseplates are? I have an instruction book for an old castle with a raised base plate, but no base plate, and was wondering how to go about building it without the baseplate. Thanks!
  25. I enjoy the Elves sets (the colors are great, and I love the little animals with designs on them), and the Friends sets, and Lord of the Rings sets, and Super Hero sets. I happen to have a small collection of My Little Pony figures and stuffed animals, but also a collection of Star Trek action figures. There is nothing wrong with anyone, of any gender or age, enjoying anything that doesn't harm someone. Even if Lego or other companies label things as "girl toys" and "boy toys" or that it's recommended for a certain age, having fun and enjoying the things that you like is great and healthy. And, to the original poster, I think it's great that you get to spend Lego time with your daughter. I certainly wish my parents would have done so with me. I hope you continue to have fun with the Lego Elves (and maybe even make an awesome Warcraft 3 MOC for your elves :D ).
