  1. Judging by how well kept the information on the episode VII sets are being kept, I wonder if we'll ever see preliminaries. If we don't I won't be bothered at all.I like surprises. In light of the little info we'll probably get concerning the fall wave of sets I thought you all might like to see something I came across on lego ideas:http://ideas.lego.com/projects/92492 Attention to detail is amazing along with the functionality of the model. I hope the official set looks like this!
  2. Anyone know of the status of the UCS X wing? Is it officially discontinued?
  3. Is the UCS X-Wing on the verge of being discontinued? I suspected it would be going out this year but not within the first couple months. I'm just curious if I should pick it up ASAP or if I'll have more time to get it? I was at least expecting it to be around until the UCS TIE fighter came out. Does anyone know for sure?
  4. I'm surprised how well the shuttle's interior turned out, and that it has a cargo box containing thermal detonators. Definite buy.
  5. I've done a mod with to my UCS naboo starfighter almost dead ringer to what you've done in LDD! I wish I could post a pic but I'm halfway across the country right now in college so it'll half to wait. She's got the chrome parts, too! I'm glad to see that there are others who consider the UCS to be the definitive kit for the vehicle. To be honest I hate the 2007 version and the other two tweaked copies of the kit. If only the newer release was inspired by this design rather. Who needs playability anyway when you can swoosh it around! I am no fan of the prequels (especially the Phantom Menace) but the N1 was one of my favorite ships from the newer films. It's so sleek and sexy in chrome! Love this TK. Bravo!
  6. Lego released a new animated short: 1 Notice the shuttle 2 Notice the astromech droid's head
  7. I can only second what the others have said. This is without a doubt the best x-wing I have ever seen made from lego bricks. I honestly never thought it would be possible to get the dimensions that perfect but you succeeded where numerous others have not. Congratulations! Did you color certain bricks or make custom stickers? I want instructions for this beast so badly. It's perfect.
  8. The second pic is hilarious!
  9. It's more along the lines of the names of WWII bomber aircraft. The United States made bomber aircraft during the war and the crews typically named them. The Memphis Belle is arguably one of the most famous B17s of the war and is an example of this. Therefore, the Memphis Belle was a B17 but not all B17s were the Memphis Belle.
  10. I can remember my first set 7140. I got that back when it was first released in May of '99... and I became addicted. Good times.
  11. Would the Echo base set be considered UCS or just an expensive exclusive set? I don't know if the current Ewok Village is considered UCS, but I could see them making Echo Base the set to phase out the Ewok Village? As far as prelims go I know that I can get info and possibly see pictures around late January/Early February. I have no idea if the big UCS set will be in the dealers catalogue or not but the summer wave will be. I'm curious as to whether the UCS TIE fighter will be in there. Usually there are 1-2 USC sets a year, I believe? The TIE fighter has been discussed here and has been verified through other sources. So that's one. There is now the possibility of Echo Base so that's two (If it's considered a UCS). Then there's the potential for a larger UCS set, which makes the number come to three. But then there's the slave 1 which releases in January. Although you have to take into account that there was only one UCS last year which was the sand crawler.
  12. I'll get to the bottom of it. I may have misheard but I thought it was in NYC. It wasn't the NYC toy fair because that has already past and the next one is in late February of 2015 I think? The event was a private function of some sort, and that I do know. I was more focused on the info at the time. It'll be interesting to find out exactly what show or event it was, and if it was private, I don't know how much I can talk about it. It's going to take time for a response though, toy shops are busy all the time during the holiday season and his is no exception.
  13. Interesting deduction. I can see both pros and cons to both versions in comparison to the great photos you got of the original film used piece! You should do a mix up with parts from the sets and see how accurate you can get it to the pic. For example, the grey tubes on the front of the old model are more accurate than the black tubes on the new one.
  14. I get where you're coming from and that's why I am somewhat confused myself regarding what I heard from my friend today. The possibility of cavegod's model being a reality on shelves is in my opinion zero. However the majority of the fan designed sets that are accepted by the lego group always go through tweaks from the prototype to the finished product. Plus the UCS Falcon was 5000 pcs and cavegod's model is I think around or over 6000? If they were to release that model price point would be $600-800 USD? I also agree with you about the fact that lego does have a collector market in addition to children. However, the falcon he was talking about that was on display seemed like it would sell for $800-1000 USD. There was talk that it had lights and numerous features (no talk of an interior) but there was sounds? In my opinion, I believe that it was a model they had as a display for the show and not for intended retail release. People have voiced that they were disappointed with the possibility of a 10179 rerelease and what that would do to the secondary market. I honestly believe that lego values that people collect products because when they do rereleases of UCS sets they are never the exact same beast as the previous iteration. Now the question is whether the AT-AT was also only a display model? When we talked I was under the assumption that it was the next UCS. I couldn't get a confirmation on the piece count but rather an estimate, which was larger than 10179. The price was high, too. As far as not being able to sell a UCS AT-AT in place of the Falcon, lego did produce the UCS Executor? I wouldn't role out an AT-AT. To me, the most iconic vehicles from the OT are the X Wing, TIE, Falcon, AT-AT, and AT-ST. Then, there's the possibility that this could be from Episode VII. Supposedly there's some new four legged walker that is supposed to appear either in the upcoming film or the next. Another possibility is that it was a proposed UCS that won't reach production. There was a pic from a few years back from some lego offices that showed in the foreground a shelf that had numerous UCS sets that, at that time, weren't released USC sand crawler update and UCS Slave 1. But, the photo also showed USC sets that have yet to be made or never were put into production like the USC Droid Starfighter and the medical droid. I don't know anything about the Echo base set but doubt that they'd try to combo it with an AT-AT in it. I can see both sets being released at the same time frame with Echo base being a replacement for the Ewok Village at around $250 USD and the big UCS being the AT-AT as I was informed. But that's just my speculation. Time will tell what exactly we'll be seeing next year and I'll inform you all once I get more information worthy of posting here. I don't want to fuel the flames of false information. Once I have definitive information, you can be sure I'll be happy to share it. This whole rumors began as the UCS Falcon reboot and morphed into a UCS AT-AT rumor over the phone. I don't want it becoming an ever malignant rumor that spreads like an evil cancerous infection into the hearts and minds of fellow lego Starwars aficionados poisioning the perception of the upcoming lego Starwars season. Ok maybe that last sentence was a little too much but you get my point. I'm not going to post anymore on the next UCS until I get rock solid evidence.
  15. The rumor on the Echo Base set interests me. My guess would be a $250 dollar lego exclusive set to replace the Ewok Village whereas the UCS would be the AT-AT might replace the deathstar? When I talked to my informant there was a price range stated but I want to confirm that when I meet face to face to discuss some of this further. I didn't hear anything about Echo Base and considering it's rumored to be a exclusive set I doubt it will be in the catalog. I'll find out what I can for you guys.
  16. I understand where you're coming from. I just bought the system scaled one because I never thought they'd do a UCS model, but we'll see what happens come February. I don't know of sure what will be in the dealer catalog but I'll see what I can find out at that time.
  17. Some of the best imperial troops lego has made. I can't wait to pick up a couple of these packs. I got to agree Fuppy, the shadow guards would look better with a trans red head.
  18. Okay, update on the rumored 10179 rerelease. I spoke with the informant over the phone today about whether there was going to be an updated 10179. My bud was at the toy fair in NYC and supposedly they had a private behind closed doors event for dealers that showcased a few products we haven't seen yet. There was a falcon on display that was different than 10179 that had lights and new features. However, according to my informant, this isn't the new UCS. They aren't remaking 10179. Period. Economically, lego felt it wouldn't work well with their intended market (children) and the price point would have made hard core adult collectors cringe. I sat there on the phone disappointed when the conversation took another turn. There was another model on display that lego was pitching as the next BIG UCS. As I've stated previously, my informant owns a toy shop and isn't an über Starwars nerd but what was said next instantly turned my dissatisfaction over the rejected 10179 update for what is to come next. I asked what the model was and what it looked like. I was informed that it has a huge piece count. The informant couldn't remember from months back. The next part of the conversation, verbatim: (Me in Blue, Informant Black) "What ship was it?" "You know I'm not good with the names!" "Describe it." "It's a huge walker with for legs. The thing's giant." "AT-AT, A T A T, Imperial Walker!?!" "The last thing you said was it. Imperial Walker." Now, my bud won't know if the lego group will be officially producing this as the UCS until February when the dealer catalog from lego arrives. As I was told, there are always things that are shown to people in the toy industry that never make it into production as is the case with the 10179 update. This could be the same situation with the UCS AT-AT. Will let you all know in Feb. Additionally, I was informed that my informant was deeply disappointed because he won't be aloud to carry this set and a few others because Lego is only dictating certain stores to sell these exculsives and are continuing to produce "lego store only" exclusives. I find the possibility of a UCS AT-AT intruiging considering Cavegod's AT-AT on cuusoo. Fits well with this reported Echo Base set. I didn't have time to talk with my informant on Echo Base but I'll see if I can get any info pertaining to that rumor. The Dealer catalog should be out around Feb and we'll get some verification for you all. Joe
  19. You've put so much love into the T-65 and I wish you the best in completing her. She'll be a beauty when it's done and I can't wait to see the finished model.I hope your still working on this puppy!
  20. Maybe Yularen will appear in Rebels? That seems highly plausible given that the show is produced by the same people who made the CloneWars series.
  21. I like the look of the cockpit with the new window and hatch pieces. The cockpit and overall design look very accurate to the show. I hope lego releases an update of the tie fighter with a similar cockpit. Could you take an overhead shot of the interior of the cockpit please? Thanks for the review!
  22. To end the debate on an exact rerelease, what I heard secondhand was that it won't be an exact rerelease. There are many surprising aspects to it and I want to confirm that what I heard is legit from the informant. Will let you know when I can. The Azure Angel looks outstanding and I'm impressed they made Yularen from Episode IV which is great for OT fans like myself. I'll need to pick him up so he can be in the deathstar's conference room. Joe
  23. I might have some decent info regarding the rerelease of 10179 but need to verify a few things before I post here. There are a couple things I'll have to check with my informant and it may take a week or two or less. All I can say right now is that I heard some info from a family member (not from the informant directly) and if what I heard secondhand is legit minds will be blown. I know that I'm a new member on the forum and that my claim will be taken lightly, but believe me, lego Starwars has been a huge part of my life and I seek to gain nothing more than giving info to some people that enjoy the same hobby I do. My informant is a family friend and is in the toy business: owns a toy shop, goes to toy fairs, and most importantly loves what they do and lego! I want to make sure that I'm not going to get them in trouble in any way by talking about this. I want to be as professional and polite as I can be with the lego company and my family friend concerning this information. In other words, I don't want any Bonthans to die because of this information Joe
  24. Thanks for the early review! How tall is this next to the most recent recreation of the AT-AT? I'm picturing the two of them standing next to each other looking silly due to the scale differences.
  25. Excellent MOC! Is the brown X-Wing pilot helmet custom or was there a version produced in brown?
