Disney Princesses 2018 - Rumors & Discussion
Soupperson1 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Only those two, six more coming in January though! I’d expect any child minidoll body to be used across multiple themes when it’s first introduced, it could even been introduced across TLM2 sets.- 135 replies

Pastel colours sell these sets though. :P I could see older girls being attracted to the “sand” shades though, which are rarely used in Friends.

Great rebuild!

The position and future of Friends and minidolls in Lego?
Soupperson1 replied to Dorayaki's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think TLM2 will have a licensed section of the minidoll planet and we’ll get a few Scooby-Doo, Harry Potter and Wizard Of Oz mini-dolls. Additionally we’ll probably get minidoll versions of the main characters (including an anime “neko” inspired unikitty) in the summer. I think that’s honestly our only hope for future licensed minidolls atm. I hope we get a grey eyed girl (as someone with grey eyes) and a hazel eyed one next year in Friends as they’re long overdue. -
Thanks for sharing! Lots of hints for upcoming sets and a new girl themed aimed towards slightly older audiences! Let’s just hope the outside the city sets aren’t just farm and beach again. :P I think this interview suggests to the above set list being fake. It’s very repetive while this interview suggests Friends is broadening out.

Disney Princesses 2018 - Rumors & Discussion
Soupperson1 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
The trolls from Frozen used the goblin mould in the cartoon so I’m sure they’d use that if they were ever released. Melody will never be released, they don’t make any merchandise of her. The rest of your ideas are good but I don’t think any of them are necessary, certainly not enough for LEGO to go out and make a new mould for short legs. —————— I think if we’re going to get a Cinderella villains we would’ve got at least one of them in the Castle set.- 135 replies

Disney Princesses 2018 - Rumors & Discussion
Soupperson1 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
What I find most interesting is there’s six sets. Frozen 2 is coming out next year so we can guess at most one of these will be Froze themed as many more will come out later in the year. If they were to make one an Arendelle castle with Hans, Elsa in her coronation dress and Anna would be likely. Cinderella and Ariel both have two larger sets with additional characters out currently and I can’t see them making any more sets for Cindy as her whole film basically takes place in those two locations. Ariel could have another undersea castle with Triton and a sister, but that’s all that I can think of. I can’t imagine them releasing another set with Eric so soon after the last pricy one. Additionally the only animal friend of Ariel’s that can’t be found in the sets currently is Scuttle, so if they do make an undersea castle I’ll bet he’s in it. It’s exciting to see what they’ll come up with as those three films constantly take up all the set slots. Palace Pets seems to be retired too so I think it’s guaranteed at this stage that at least four of these sets are based of the other princesses. Snow White’s cottage has yet to be released in a non DUPLO/Juniors set, so I think it’s likely we’ll get one. It would work very well with the Build And Swap theme we have going on and it would require no new moulds due to the juniors set. We could potentially get a new mould for a dwarf (using Dr. Fox’s or more likely the Goblins from Elves arms), but that could be wishful thinking. I don’t think her prince or villain are likely so this set will probably be cheaper. I can’t see Aurora getting another set so soon unless it’s Juniors. The cake scene from the cottage is already in the castle set as is part of the forest and Maleficent’s lair. Plus it’s more likely Snow White would get her cottage first. Hopefully we do get a juniors set though with the fairy recoloured and if we’re really lucky, Phillip. I strongly believe Belle’s castle or part of the village will be sets. She’s a very popular princess and I believe the last set sold well. She also has many different outfits to choose from that would make the set feel more special to the kids. A smaller village set with Gaston, a bookstore, a bakery (because I doubt they’ll do a Tavern), Belle in her blue dress, Phillipe and Chip could be interesting or they’ll just remake the castle in a bigger scale which would be cool too. Jasmine is the most likely of all the princesses due to her live action film coming out next year. The fact these are January releases would confirm it’s cartoon based as they’d be released in March if they were based of that film. I think we’re going to get a similar set to the last one, but larger in scale. Aladdin will probably definitely show up and both he and Jasmines skin will be nougat. It’ll be interesting to see who else we’ll get besides them and Rajah, if anyone. I’d expect a DUPLO Jasmine set too if we’re getting anymore DUPLO sets. Pocahontas will probably have the cheapest set unless it’s given to Tiana. I can’t imagine her being given anything besides a small river scene, campfire and Meeko. I can’t see them making another Mulan or Moana set so soon, but we’ll wait and see. I think the reason for Tianas lack of inclusion is the fact her skin colour will have to be the same as Moana’s, which will spark outrage amongst some fans. Of course LEGO could release a darker minidoll but I think we would’ve seen it by now, especially with the Friends reboot. Set wise I think we’ll get her restaurant with a balcony to recreate the kissing scene. I’d like a new Rapunzel’s tower and it could come with Mother Gothel, but I think any future Rapunzel sets for the time being will be based off that show. So if we do get one it’ll probably come with her and Flynn. Merida could also potentially have a set as her last appearance will have been five years before when these sets come out. If she does get a set she’ll probably take one of the cheaper slots away because she’s not that popular. Angus and the bear triplets will probably show up alongside those printed tiles from the Disney D2C. Well there’s all my ideas that I think are good educated guesses on what will potentially come out next year. Did I miss anything?- 135 replies

I think the art studio is the only interesting sounding set everything else is a remake of some sorts.

I’m pretty sure Andrea and Olivia definitely have new hairpieces. It’s a huge shame Mia’s didn’t change color. :/ Do people even like Stephanie’s hairpiece? I’m shocked it’s still around tbh. I can’t share the images of the animals, sorry. You can find them on the Chinese equivalent to eBay, but it’s impossible to look aroud it. :/ Just take my word for it ?
-
I can’t tell if Olivia’s supposed to have nougat or medium nougat skin from the polybag leaks. She has a new hair piece though! Stephanie doesn’t :( But she has a new face for some reason. They both have new outfits so it looks like we’re going to get more new legs and torsos than ever before! On another note when Friends was first introduced we had a lot of secondary characters introduce to populate our city, why isn’t this wave doing the same? We still need to get a nouguat boy, girl without glasses and adults... Not to mention we still don’t have a grey or hazel eyed face. Speaking of men it looks like they might have got rid of the small nose boy faces and replaced them with the larger nose ones. :/ On the bright side I’ve see a lot of animal leaks! There’s a lot that’s new this year! A white cat with black and light brown spots. There’s two dual mounded birds (same Mould as Goldie), ones pink and amber the others sand blue and dark blue. During the pop star days they were shown wearing bracelets that red “seventeen”. At New York toy fair in 2013 the LEGO correspondent said it was the summer before they’re last year in high school. It seems much more likely to me they’re sixteen at least. I think if she did had a new hairpiece they wouldv’e put it in Juniors, it would be like if one of the NINJAGO characters had a color change and the used the old one.

I thought they could’ve been continual looking for a solution to the articulated wrists since the mini doll release in 2012, obviously they weren’t or still haven’t found a solution. Don’t mega blocks figures have similar leg proportions and achieve leg articulation? I think the main problem with leg articulation for mini dolls, is it would be confusing to kids that all leg pieces would move at different joints. I know the Minifigures have short legs and dresses, but I think added joints in different sections to regular leg pieces would be so much more confusing for kids. I don’t think there was anything unrealistic about the girls in the past. :P Perhaps Andrea’s eyes being brown over green would be more relevant but it’s certainly not impossible for a dark skinned girl to have light eyes. If they were truly going for real life accuracy, I don’t think they’d be dressed the way they are if they’re seventeen! I can’t imagine the Juniors Mia having different hair to the normal one, but that doesn’t make it any less peculiar. Additionally Mia’s ponytail has bangs or a fringe in the image and that’s absent too!

I didn’t think the reboot would be this big! While I’m all for diversity, I think it’s odd that the protagonist would go under the biggest changes. It is a tad annoying that Olivia who has the most family has gone through the change, as Peter, Anna, Sophie and Ola will have to follow? I like the addition of giving her glasses though! I would’ve preferred if it was Stephanie, but I’ll take what I can get. Emma’s race change seems like a missed opportunity, her eyes should be more creased. It just looks off, but that could just be the pictures. Andrea is what she should’ve been in the first place. Her skin actually looks the same color as her mini doll for once! Plus her braids and brown eyes are surly more relevant with the target audiences. I’m not too hot on giving Mia green eyes, as nearly every female red head has blue or green eyes. Not to mention Emily already has a similar face... I do find it weird they didn’t tak this opportunity to give her ginger hair, rather than that weird red colour. Stephanie doesn’t seem to have any notable changes, besides better hair. I’m still upset they don’t have a male friend, this would’ve been a great time to add one. Oh well, they don’t seem to be missing any major female minorities now at least ;P _________ I do find it annoying they didn’t cease this opportunity and totally upgrade the mini doll. We could’ve got wrist and leg joints, but no! It doesn’t seem they’re upping the numbers of characters in sets either too. :/ On the other hand I like how they can be displayed alongside the existing mini dolls, except the five main friends of course. It’s high time we get a load of new face prints, torsos and hair pieces! Theres quite a fair number of new pieces and re colors in these sets which always welcome. I wonder will this encourage people to dive back into this theme. I’m certainly excited to revisit it!

This could very well be a line of re-imagined editions of classic sets, we honestly know nothing. I think classic replicas are more likely, but reimaginings could appeal more to kids and collectors.

Unless next year Friends has a different mini doll style to the Disney Princess, 2018 looks to use the same moulds.

Disney Princesses 2018 - Rumors & Discussion
Soupperson1 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
I’m not sure if Max looks adorable or terrifying! ? Sebastain is the same as he was before. The new face looks off to me, the extra shine completely changes the look completely. It’s like we have to start collecting all the princesses again... Also I find it interesting only the main girls have the new eyes and none of the side characters or villains do...- 135 replies

Ariel and Eric's wedding looks to be a set next year, as these shorts only show off things found in sets. That's why Triton, the dinglehopprr and Scuttle are paper cut outs... The build looks very nice and it's nice to see a new outfit on Eric. It would've been nice to get a full wedding dress for Ariel, though I guess kids wouldn't be as excited.

Be warned about the Snow White set, the printing on the bow is very thin and mines started to peel off already despite buying it yesterday...

We have our first glimpses at our playground set here(around 1:30): It looks very <insert that tiresome argument> and like a MOC, but at least it looks finished. I'll be interested to see the stickers, as they'll be the only exclusive parts.
-
Brickset also revealed this 'pod' type set: https://brickset.com/sets/5004920-1/Ski-Pod It has an exclusive torso and legs....I really don't understand why we need another winter suit but it's nice nevertheless. 41319 Hot Chocolate Van is an adorable little set. I think it could've done without the brown, but oh well. The slides are a nice and fun addition too. I believe this is the first use of Kate's face since 2015. The rest of the minidolls are made of existing parts, it makes the advent calander even less desirable as the one mini doll doesn't have a single exclusive part now. Im conflicted on 31320 Frozen Yougart shop, as parts of it look stupid and others don't. The brick built sign looks horrendous in my opinion, thanks to the white on the bottom. The use of balloon bottoms as bowls doesn't really work either IMO. I really love the use of spring green though! The sports car is a nice little build and the interior of the shop looks promising. It's a shame Julian doesn't have a new torso or leg piece or something interesting as we need more variety across our male mini dolls.

You do realize exclusives aren't always big? There was that dire Friends party shop last year and Livi's music video thing was also pretty cheap. :P I think we've all been saying for years there's enough space for Pocahontas, Tiana and/or Mulan, but now LEGO kind of has to them if they want new characters. Snow White will need a system set too eventually. The biggest issue with these characters is most likely The LEGO group have no clue what to do with them, as they aren't as popular as their counterparts. Pocahontas is the hardest as Grandmother Willow would be the most likely choice, but the build would probably be to large and thus expensive for what they want for her. I think what's most likely is a cheap $15 set called "Pocahontas River Adventures" with her a canoe (Ninjago just brought that piece back), a river build with waterfall, a recoloured Wildflower Meeko and the Friends put recoloured for Percy. Tiana's somewhat more popular but location wise she's a lot harder. They could do a swamp themed set, but that would be odd for this line that focuses on glitters and sparkles. What I think is most likely is a small restraunt set, which includes her green dress, a frog and Naveen. Mulan is our most likely candidate as her live action film comes out next year and her popularity should somewhat rise. But the biggest problem with her, is what set can they make? Putting her in war would be odd as they'll still want to include her dress. So I guess they could do the finale scene, but even then most Mulan dolls just focus on the nice sides of the movie but it be odd for LEGO to make set of her making tea....feminists would riot!

Five retail exclusive sets (including the fro yo shop) seem a little excessive, especially since wave one only gifted us a hedgehog. Hot Cocoa Van sounds stupid but the build could be neat, usually the more stupid Friends sets ideas have nice builds. I'm hoping for an African American boy in a winter outfit, as for some reason Nate's torso is the only winter torso to show skin. I have no clue what the other sets could be, probably at least one of them will be beach themed. It's a shame mini-dolls in these retail exclusive sets are always just part combinations and rarely introduce new parts (Iva's hair and Livi's blue torso are the only two that come to mind).
-
That's where our John Stewart figure comes from! :D While I'm glad we're finally getting him I feel it's an odd choice for him to be the sole minifigure of a kids book. I think sales of the book would be increased with an additional more iconic character and DC has plenty. Hopefully we'll get a DC Super Hero Girls Build Your Adventure with an exclusive mini doll soon. :P

Oops sorry for the late reply. March Harriet has Flame Yellowish Orange skin. It's basically a facade. There's a stickered plate acting as Cinderella's bed on the second floor and a key on floor one. Rather disappointing if you ask me, but it's at least better than the other set. On a side note how come there hasn't been a single store exclusive Disney set yet? With three princesses and a ton of side characters still missing I can't see why not?
