  1. Hey, I love DC too but I don’t think lying about sales will get us anywhere. Why would LEGO lie about Marvel being in the top six selling themes? What would they gain? If they were prone to lying they wouldn’t feature the same 5 themes nearly every year. They’d pick themes like TLM2 or Overwatch in hopes of their sales being boosted. Yes the Endgame sets were inaccurate but that doesn’t mean they sold poorly. Kids don’t seem to care that much about accuracy. Adults still bought them too compare the fan collections on Brickset to other themes. Brickset has a community of mainly male AFOLs and some TFOLs, so their collections suggest they weren’t too bothered by inaccuracies too. I don't think DC is selling awfully, but it doesn’t seem to be doing great either. All the 2018 winter wave were cancelled after a year, as were last year’s two winter sets. If they were selling well they would’ve been kept on shelves longer, especially the larger sets. I also feel if DC was selling well we’d be getting more than four summer sets. I really want the theme to sell well and I’m hoping the CMF was successful, as will the summer Batman sets. The more sets people buy means the more sets we’ll get in the future! :)
  2. I didn’t realize Spanish site said the set was wintered themed! That’s exciting we’re bound to get that magenta winter dress now! At least this will add something new to the concept of a Beauty and The Beast set. It might link the set better to Frozen ones too, which kids seem to prefer. :P Speaking Of Frozen, at Toy Fair there was a Hasbro Playset with tents and some scenery of the the enchanted forest. This could be a fun way to have a set with Yelena, Honeymarren and/or Ryder! There was also a small Playset based on the Show Yourself scene, which I didn’t think would work as a LEGO set before but now I think they might be able to pull it off! I do hope the summer’s wave is a bit more diverse then just BaTB and Frozen 2 though! :3
  3. Seeing the second wave of these has made it real that we’re getting 20 of them. It’s really weird. :P I love how the boxes use the new transparent pink with opal finish. The colour is gorgeous and looks just like a lipgloss! I think it’ll be really eye catching to those out shopping. I don’t think the builds here are that interesting. Stephanie’s is by far the worst as all those pieces are really common, I don’t know why they won’t give us new hair accessory recolours in Friends. Olivia’s is a bit better as those swirl prints are harder to come by for kids. Andrea’s/Mia’s are fine and I really like the use of stickers in Andrea’s. I wish they’d give us more stickers of pet food, as those usually only come in bigger sets despite most Friends sets having an animal companion. Lastly I think Emma’s set is probably our best play cube yet as it actually encourages building in unique ways. Im kind of disappointed with the minidolls, I was hoping at least one or two of them would have a new work uniform print, but nope. Last time we got a new hairpiece recolour, three new faces and three new torsos. This time we only have one new face, but it’s definitely our best one yet! I love Mia’s 3D glasses. I think they’d work as Harley Quinn inspired sunglasses too! I thought the last waves new faces was kind of a waste of new prints, but this shows the potential of where we can go! I’ll definitely be picking up the Mia one just for that print alone. I don’t have that torso either so that’s also a bonus. I really think they should be telling consumers on the packaging that each girl only comes with one type of animal. This wave’s selection of animals is really fun though with an Owl, Teddy Bear, Turtle Poodle and new Alpaca. I think the dark orange poodle would work fine in a normal City layout, as the chrome is only on its scarf. The teddies would also work fine in any city layout too and we have most of the main teddy bear colours now! :D The others are definitely geared towards kids, but I don’t mind that as they’ve thrown us enough of a bone with those six. Maybe the turtles could work? But I’m afraid the chrome printing will get in the way. I’m really excited to see where that Alpaca shows up next! I wonder what colours the next two waves packaging will be? I’m guessing a trans neon yellow with glitter and then transparent blue with opal finish. I’m also really excited to see the 40 other animals and what colours they’ll appear in! We’ve gotten a baby sheep before! Just google LEGO friends lamb, they’ve appeared in a few sets. One has eyelashes while the other doesn’t, so be careful if you’re paying one online!
  4. Not necessarily, Simpson’s and TLBM got their second series the year after their first one and Disney got its three years later.
  5. The hospital is really expensive everywhere. It doesn’t even feature too many rare or particularly large pieces. I wonder what that’s about? The hairdresser is great for its price though! Those two are the two extremes when it comes to value in Friends. ;P
  6. @DragonElves does it say at the end of the issue what the next gift with the magazine is? Lost gas there been any characters featured in the comics that haven’t been in the sets yet? They might tease at something from summer?
  7. Eclipso’s hairpiece would work well, but it does look kind of high up on a minifigure.
  8. I’m really excited that these sets are more expensive as hopefully it’ll mean there’s more new characters included!
  9. The other Moana set is coming out next year though, not with the sequel. :P As for the sets we’ve seen pictures of they’re supposed to come out December 26th in Europe.
  10. Brickset has reported 43182 Mulan's Training Grounds and 43183 Moana's Island Home are two future Disney Princess sets ? I wonder if they’ll be LEGO Store exclusives or something? Usually brickset wouldn’t list summer sets this early, especially not ones for licensed themes. Do you think 43182 could have a normal scale Li-Shang? Im honestly not sure what 43183 could include other then a better Hei-Hei. I really didn’t like her last island set, so I guess they could improve a lot on the build? Maybe Moana will pull a Cinderella and make up a red coloured outfit for her. :P I guess they could also include Moana’s mother or grandmother but I find that unlikely.
  11. The Frozen book can be found here: https://www.jb-spielwaren.de/frozen-maerchenbuch/a-43175/
  12. Ask and you shall receive, here’s pictures of Andreas car! It does come with a new character and some interesting recolours. I’m definitely going to pick this one up! http://b2bremixkaja.pl/samochod-i-scena-andrei,3,38196,38063
  13. Hmm predicting a second wave is tricky. Disney Princess usually just gets a small second wave, but since these sets are all $30 and less I could see them releasing a slightly larger summer wave. I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high though. If we do we’re bound to get more Frozen 2 sets to cover spoilers and give us characters who haven’t appeared in this wave. I’m unsure if we’d get more storybooks later in the year as usually these mini sub themes that try a zany idea (Mighty Micros, Big Fig series in Minecraft) only come out In January. I do think it’s unlikely we’d get sets with Merida, Snow White, Belle and Pocahontas to give us their new faces though. So that means were going have to wait even longer to get everyone with the same face style. Anyway a summer wave could be thrown out the window if they wait until November and give us Raya sets instead. :P
  14. Has anyone else noticed that Andrea, Emma and Stephanie seem to have new faces in their play cubes? Andrea’s Face is updated to have a golden triangle on one eye, Stephanie’s mouth is half open and Emma’s expression is more goofy then normal. These are really minimalist changes and I’m surprised they bothered to make them. I’m not complaining as I think most Friends fans have plenty of eachs normal face by now. I do hope we continue to see new faces for the main girls throughout these play cubes. Maybe in the summer we could get sunglasses on all of them? (Melody’s head is missing lipstick unfortunately as otherwise it would’ve worked fine for Andrea) Perhaps Olivia will take her glasses off in one of these? I’m very excited! Lastly it appears that 41390 Andrea’s Car will be a retail exclusive, as it’s not coming up on many sites. I think there’s a possibility that it could come with another character due to it’s fairly large piece count of 240. Hopefully if it does it’ll come with a new character!
  15. 2020 sets and discussion can be found here!
  16. You know if these sets were expensive I wouldn’t care as much, but because they’re cheap I’m really tempted to get them all. :P For the regular sets: That Moana set is excellent cheap way for those who missed out on her last one. It also means we won’t break the bank by getting it for the new face. The Aurora set is kind of random, but I wouldn’t really mind random things like that if it meant new characters. :P I agree with most that Aurora looks kind of silly in that skirt. I’m glad that LEGO are continuing to produce that skirt piece, as I thought the mould was discontinued due to its lack of mobility. Hopefully this means Tiana can show up in it at some point. It’s a shame they won’t make a Briar Rose outfit or blue outfit for Aurora, maybe some day. I do love the new owl print, I’ve been wanting for years and it was well worth the wait! They could recolour some of Jasmine’s doves in red and blue and then we’d have all the forest creatures for that scene. Then all we’d really need is Phillip and the other two fairies. I think the Cinderella Castle set looks really bland, even for a Juniors set. The interior is lacking, maybe a dining table instead of a cat play feature? Heck, why does Luicifer get one and Bruno doesn’t get a kennel? I think it’s a bit excessive for both this set and Aurora’s to feature a cake. Couldn’t they have thought of any other food? XP Cinderella’s new outfit is fun, though it would’ve been nice if we could’ve got her wedding dress as I think that could’ve gone here. Speaking of her wedding, the absence of the prince here is really jarring. This set is fairly expensive they could’ve included a second mini doll. I’m sick of them using the hamsters as nice, just introduce a mould for either Jaq or Gus! At least Bruno looks fantastic and it’s a really nice inclusion for everyone (like me!) who was disappointed it what they did for him in the past. I do feel sorry for those who bought the Lucifer set just for him, but at least the rest of us can get our hands on him now. Him coming in a set the year after makes me apprehensive of buying this one, but I doubt they’d include both Bruno and Luicifer in the same set the year after? Right? XP As for the storybooks: I love the idea of microdolls (it’s like Disney Princess Mighty Micros!), even if those pop up books are meh sets with a few interesting recolours tossed in to shut up AFOLs. I’m not to thrilled with the lack of a building experience as the book’s covers seem to be made of two parts on the front and one on the back. A lot of the details inside are from stickers, which usually I don’t mind, but too many makes it less LEGO like. As for the builds themselves, I think they’re cute and they serve their purpose. That windshield as a slide is a really fun idea. It is a shame that Li-Shang is being introduced here, hopefully he’ll make the jump to regular figure quicker then it’s taking Doomsday in DC to. At the very least that set gives us a Criki that can be used with regular mini-dolls and for that I’m thankful. XD Nope, they all have rubber hairpieces. One of Mulan’s hairs isn’t rubber though! Nice catch on Chip, I think he scales better to regular minidolls here then he did as a mug.
  17. I actually think this is one of the worst Friends waves yet, I can see why people who aren’t fans of the theme aren’t thrilled. I’m a huge Friends fan and I’m really only interested in getting two sets. The hairdresser is really good for its price. It’s a shame it doesn’t come with two stickered curved windows and I’d love to add those to the old hairdresser. Speaking of the old hairdresser this one is essentially as good, but cheaper. I do think the hair accessories pack should’ve been brought back for this. I’m not quite sure why they got rid of that, I thought it was excellent. We rarely get new hair accessories anymore, there’s only one for this entire wave and it’s not in this set. XP Another thing they could’ve added was more hair, just to give it a leg up over the last one. I’m not thrilled about Nina. After five waves this is our first female character of colour in the Friends theme who isn’t one of the Friends. You think they would’ve put more effort into making her less like Olivia. XP I understand they might’ve had to use a leg piece to cost corners, but why not use the one from the bus? Pink is supposed to be Olivia’s signature colour. XP Either way the combination of colours on the outfit shouldn’t have been pink and medium azure, I know colour matching is important, but they could’ve had black instead of one of them. Last critique, I continue to be annoyed that this theme disregards this theme pre Reboot. Why call her Nina when the LEGO Club Friends girl was called Nina? There’s plenty of other names they could’ve chose from and then LEGO Club’s Nina could’ve come in a set. The baking competition is also really fun and a unique idea which is a nice change. I don’t mind getting similar sets over and over again, if they improve on the previous concepts and release some interesting new sets alongside them. I think the feature with the spinning sign of what you should make is a brilliant idea! The stations are nice and long and the inclusion of copious accessories and ingredients makes it ripe for play. The new pieces here make the set a lot more enticing too. David is dull. We’ve got multiple Caucasian boys (and multiples of Ethan and Zack) before and we haven’t got a new make character of colour since wave two in Friends. We’ve never got an Asian boy or a boy with Olivia’s skin tone in Friends. Heck even if he had glasses or grey eyes/green eyes/hazel eyes, it would’ve been something new. Also it be nice if they made a boy who didn’t wear dark red/ red/ a shade of green / light royal blue/ earth blue, that be nice. :P I do like the reuse of the new skirt piece of the apron though, it’s not all bad. :P Lillie’s new outfit is fun. I do find it odd that multiple new torsos here have printing that is supposed to go down to the legs. Why design that if you’re not going to print it on the legs? It just makes it look cheap. :P A lot of the other sets look either silly (more than usual) or bland. The glamping set, ice cream cart and puppy playground are all fairly boring. I do like the popsicle build and the throwback to the 2017 puppy set colours though. :P The hospital has nice colours, but design wise it looks like a City building and that’s not a compliment. XP The interior is really really bland. The ambulance looks like a 70s caper van. I do like Emma’s outfit there and Dr. Maria has a fun outfit too. I do find it weird that Maria reuses Kacey’s head as the only other pair to do this post Reboot where Zack and Mason. I’m not apposed to this idea, it just came out of nowhere. Those pods though. What?! XP I think they’re a nice idea, but they seem to much of a carbon copy of Shopkins or L.O.L, there’s not enough building in them in my book. We’re supposedly getting twenty this year, so I’m interested to see how that’ll work and how they’ll look different. The blind bag animal idea is also interesting. One of my biggest complaints about Friends is that they’ve kind of shelved new animals (even recolours) for better minidolls and this is an interesting solution to that problem. XP I’m genuinely tempted to buy them all secondhand. At least the parrots could work in a normal setting?
  18. Marvel and DC both had January waves last year though? Plus we’ve got mighty micros released simultaneously before too. I don’t think this is done by design, it just happens to occur as many Marvel sets coincide with the film’s they’re based off release. Is it not possible those pieces could also come in sets?
  19. Usually we’d have high quality set images from regular retailers by the end of November. Some stores even start to sell the sets by the end of this month, usually.
  20. The hot dog costume predated the hot dog bun, so hopefully that trend will continue here! I’ve wanted a LEGO giraffe since I was a kid!
  21. That one wasn’t even Disney Princess themed though! XP I doubt these are pop up books, considering the low piece counts.
  22. I don’t think we know for a fact we’re not getting January 1st sets.
  23. I’m a huge DC fan, but I have mixed feelings on some of the aspects of this series. The major con is the U.S. price increase. I do think that will have a huge affect on the sales of this series. Think about this, the Harry Potter graveyard duel comes with 4 figures for $20 and a substantial build. I know those figures aren’t as detailed as these ones, but they’re still of a pretty high quality in my opinion. I can see parents refusing to buy minifigures as a result of this price hike and more casual AFOLs too. I hope LEGO doesn’t blame DC for the series doing poorly and blames the price increase, as we need at least one sequel series! The first appearance of the trinity seemed like the obvious route to go for me, as you could have them all match. I was hoping they’d come with 2x2 tiles with prints of the first issue, but obviously that isn’t happening, which seems like a missed opportunity. I much prefer Batman’s cowl here, then it looked in LB3. His face is a little similar to the ones that can be found in sets, which seems like a missed opportunity. I guess he was serious in his first appearance, but an unique alternative expression would’ve been cool. I like his torso and I don’t mind the printed belt. The legs are fantastic and if your a DC fan, it’s worth picking him up for those alone. Wonder Woman looks perfect, except for the hair! For a $5 CMF they should really be making her look more deluxe. I guess it’s neat her tiara is yellow instead of gold, as the only other figure to do that was the DCGirls Wonder Woman and her hairpiece was slightly different. If I’m nitpicking Diana’s face could’ve been more unique, as it seems to be just a modern update of her 2012 face. The face does look really good though! I love her torso, the use of that skirt and her legs! Her bracelets are a lovely touch and I’m planning on getting at least one spare of her for those arms alone. I have mixed feelings about including the rest of the seven. On the one hand it makes sense, they are some of DC’s more popular characters. Aquaman obviously had a very successful movie, Cyborg has been a staple in many children’s households for years thanks to Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go, The Flash has his CW show and they couldn’t make 6/7 and not include Green Lantern. On the other hand, they do feel like they’re taking up space. If casual fans wanted a Cyborg or Aquaman, they’ve both appeared in sets under $20. I think the Trinity could’ve sold this series by themselves if they had some strong back up, which I’ll explain later. The 90’s Aquaman has always been a favorite to some DC fans and LEGO made a perfect interpretation of that costume. The hook hand is a lovely touch, I’d assume they’d just give a gold minifigure one! I agree with others the reuse of the face and hair is annoying. I think a more serious expression and an annoyed face would’ve worked better with this rendition of the character. I think they could’ve redone his hair in “Cool Yellow” as it would’ve been different and make him stand out more against other Aquaman variants. I also think a new hairpiece would’ve increased AFOL appeal. Cyborg looks perfect for what he’s representing. The purple chain is a lovely touch. This variant looks fairly similar to his Super Friends appearance, which seemed to be a deliberate choice. I do think him and Aquaman are wasted slots though, another JL and TT member filling their slot would’ve made sense to me due to the limited number of 16. Giving us fourth and fifth versions for these characters over new ones just seems like a shame. Or at least ones that haven’t appeared in sets for a while. Simon Baz’ green lantern looks phenomenal! Print wise, we couldn’t really have asked for more. My only gripe with his printing is his face could’ve been smiling, just so it would’ve fit with the other lanterns, but I guess this is more in character. I don’t think the figure will appeal much to kids or casual fans though. The mask looks more like a wrestling mask than a superhero one. I think if he had accessories with a broad appeal it would’ve made him more desirable to that demographic. A funny looking transparent green construct, Bd’g or even Dex Starr (if they wanted to include a villain versus hero scenario in the series) seem like better choices then the Lantern. I do think the Lantern is nice, but again it has really limited appeal. Splitting him and Jessica (who had a really limited release) up, seems really weird too. I love the ring though and it’s a shame that won’t appear in more sets. We’ve got another four heroes on top of the seven. These are all new characters thankfully. Bumblebee! This is a really nice surprise. Turns out she was a main character in Teen Titans Go over the summer so some kids might know her better now. I guess she was in DC Girls too so maybe this might be a favorite amongst kids. I love her new hairpiece and I expect it to come in dark brown whenever they make Liz from LEGO Friends in a set. I love her dual expressions, they’re really fun! I think her torso and wings look better in LEGO form then they did in the comics! :P That yellow lightning is a lovely touch too, that I’ve been wanting for a while. Once again some nitpicks. XP I would’ve liked her torso to be ‘Cool Yellow’ rather than the normal yellow, just so it could stand out more. She could’ve done something with the legs too, I know it wouldn’t have been comics accurate, but I’m sure most LEGO fans have spare black legs. I would’ve suggested black and yellow dual moulded legs, as City fans would’ve loved that. After waiting since 2008’s LB for a Huntress I think this is kind of disappointing. A new mould would’ve been preferable considering it’s a CMF, at this rate she could’ve appeared in a set with no arm printing and limited leg printing. I don’t think the figure looks bad though, it certainly looks deluxe from the neck down. Kids who aren’t allowed sneak into BoP should at least enjoy her crossbow, as that doesn’t appear in two many sets these days and looks cool. Mister Mircale is perfect! I wouldn’t have done anything different! I love his smug grin. :3 Stargirl looks incredible. Her braces face is all I wanted! Her torso and legs are perfect too! Her hairpiece is a real disappointment though. If they had to use that piece a recolour in tan or yellow would’ve been nice and made her look more unique, but that’s the only problem with the figure. I’m once again worried about mass appeal. I guess the glitter in the staff is a nice touch and she does look like a gender bent Captain America to casual fans. Lastly we have three villains to round things off...for now. I love Parscilla’s Cheetah! She couldn’t have looked better! I think her being in a fun animal costume will appeal to non fans, especially with the great printing all around! The money bag is a lovely touch too! Sinestro is the worst choice of the series in my eyes. Could we really have not gotten any other Lantern villain? He seems like such a wasted slot. Nevertheless, the figure does look fantastic for what he is. I have to wonder was he, Cheetah and Cyborg included for us all to complete our Super Friends roster?! The only heroes we’re missing are Samurai, Gleek and Rima. We’re missing a few more villains (classic Lex, Grundy, brown Grodd, Toy Man and Giganta), but these still seem like an achievable number. Metamorpho seems really out of place. He’s really obscure compared to everyone else which makes me puzzled about how the choices for the series were decided. I do love me some obscure characters though and I’m not complaining about his inclusion, I just wish there were more included like him. :P I’m really excited to see the last four figures and I can’t wait to buy these in person. They all look really good, even if I’m dissatisfied with some of the choices.
  24. Prisclla Rich is a great idea for a figure on LEGO’s part! People love costumed characters and I can see non fans searching for her. I wonder will she be the only one or will characters like CopperHead follow?
  25. The butterflies should count as a new mould as they only come in accessory packs and cannot be separated out of them. Apart from that, best series yet! The baby King Kong is gorgeous and I love the dark fairy!
