exactly - so if LOTR was still a Lego theme this/next year, then I'd say yes, ditch the castle, because it's redundant. But it's not - I'm not seeing anything to replace castles this/next year. It's pretty weird IMHO, to me Lego has always been about 2 main themes: castles & spaceships, the themes you'd think would never disappear. I'm not really seeing it, I see something that looks like a Duplo castle here.
-
I would so not care about this new theme if it wasn't replacing the good old castle - I don't get it. Kids don't like castles anymore? Fine, they just had to bring a bit of fantasy, like LotR but without a license. But this thing looks like a comeback of the 80's bad taste. Or maybe the whole idea started as a Warhammer ripoff, but failed?

Everyone seems to use dishes on AT-AT legs btw, because they exist at all sizes, but since you're using 8x8, you may consider using these: ..over which you can do your own detail (like, a big 2x 1x6 tile), for the same thickness.

yeah I do see the lips as well, in that way it's problematic

Don't tell anyone, but they're available in Lego's Bricks&Pieces, I've bought 12 :) (they will probably get out of stock soon..) New pieces like the LBG stud with hole are already not available anymore.. or maybe not available yet, I don't know. Possibly, it would remove the dark line, but would add a little square behind the front slope, breaking it. I also wish that the 4x4 wedge with a cut corner still existed, because it would have helped there, for a better shaping. Bricks&Pieces also have black paint rollers which are becoming rare enough, but sadly not LBG ones anymore. I've used paint rollers in many MOCs, it's really a useful part. They make great handles for minifigs to close cockpits:

ah yes, it's exactly that! funny Little update: I was hoping that those 1x2 slopes would one day appear in LBG, to improve the model, and it didn't take long - they're out there since the Lego Dimensions starter packs. They shape the end of the chin better:

yeah that's the one, I love it, it looks like some kind of cute chibi bat :) I didn't know it was for a hybrid competition, some of the entries are cool.

Should be an easy mod, as long as the whole thing can be held by 4 studs. But I'm only finding 2 rough pics of those attachments. I'm considering making a variant with a bit of mud, even though not many parts exist in brown or flesh. But I'm also considering making some kind of Tie fighter/AT-ST mashup, in the same vein as the funny Snowspeeder/AT-ST MOC which I can't find back.

Will Rebrick even be born, though? And what will be the real differences between Rebrick, Rebrickable & Repubrick (& maybe others)?
-
here's my little recent small & short experience trying to do that, for my AT-ST here: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/112665 I've made it appear here, on MOCPages, Rebrickable (but then you need to make it buildable), and on Reddit. MOCPages & Rebrickable hardly brought views, however, Reddit brought a big lot, and it was around 6000 - pretty much like for you, while it lasted. (sadly for me I didn't know that Reddit would take an image straight from Lego Ideas and it's my MOCPage that took the hits) So I'd advise Reddit for any project that you're proud of, even though it only works once & for a short time. But yeah, impossible to get 10k votes when you don't even get 10k views, and I'm pretty sure that this is impossible without being blogged by a few big ones. Pretty sure that appearing on Gizmodo would make any project voted, but that's something you can only hope for. But a cute set based on nostalgia, I can imagine that on the few popular Lego blogs, especially when several are instantly recognizable for a 40 like me. What I haven't tried yet: flickr www.repubrick.com rebrick.lego.com (dead before born? weird, it was working 2 days ago) You've put it in your signature, good idea.

I've indeed included HTML instructions generated by the LDD, but I wouldn't suggest following them, as the scale/camera that the LDD picked is a bit weird & make it hard to follow. Better install the LDD & follow the animated instructions, those are very easy. This said it's all easy to build. It was 90% sweat in the design, 9.9% finding the parts, 0.1% assembling.

I've never minded the boxes, but what annoys me is that they don't bag transparent pieces separately. I mean come on, what are the chances to keep that big canopy intact, especially when you got your box by mail? If you Bricklinked a big & expensive canopy, you would always expect it bagged separately. ..& indeed the latest sets I bought came with scratched windshields.

Hi, The right version is indeed the last one by number, -but- since then I've posted a proper Rebrickable entry here, please download it: http://rebrickable.c...star-wars-at-st It has more details in a text file, explaining the pitfalls & all. As it explains, there are no red parts, the red ones in the LXF are not visible, so they can be any color. For the Rebrickable inventory, I've used grey. Part 98613 is used in the _249 project, there are 4 of them on the hip bars in-between the legs. There's only the 2 LBG cut flags that you probably won't find - I've used square ones in the inventory (as they don't even exist officially), and only 3 parts that are becoming rare enough (bucket handles, DBG car roof, the mighty LBG paint rollers [but you can still use black]). Rebrickable lists all the pieces at the bottom. I'm also gonna have to make a little update because, since the Lego Dimensions sets are out, a part is now available in LBG and will enhance the look. I think I also forgot to mention, in the project files, that the interior features 2 printed console 1x2 tiles. I've picked 2 random DBG ones, but you can use any, or unprited tiles - they're not really visible unless you remove the whole top. Previous versions had control sticks there, but the "real" AT-ST seems to feature more consoles inside. The other 2 printed tiles are the 2x2 disks at the back, I've used a random one but ideally they should be vent blades, which happen to exist, but with a hole and in DBG. The Lego Ideas project has raised 1000 supporters btw, thanks for that.

Lego themes that we would like to happen
anothergol replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I love anime, and that's exactly why I do NOT want Lego to cover that. Exo Force looked pathetic, and that's pretty much how it ends up when europeans try to make something manga-looking. Hey, even when the koreans do, it looks odd. First thing I think of when I see Exo Force is "was Lego really THAT desperate?" I even love mechs, most of my MOCs are mechs - and I think that most of the Exo Force ones looked stupid (but ok, I'm looking at them with adult eyes) Since the castles are gone, I'd rather imagine some kind of fantasy prehistoric theme. Like wooden castles, mammoths, mud everywhere.. and less of those transparent colored parts. Think Chuck Rock or Prehistorik Man. Of course, it's always risky with Lego. A mammoth can be this: ..or this- 451 replies

What should or should not be on Lego Ideas?
anothergol replied to Wodanis's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If you want my opinion, Lego Ideas doesn't exist/wasn't bought for Lego to make money from ideas - they can do that themselves. Lego Ideas = a lot of people marketing their pet project everywhere on the internet, and that's precious advertisement for Lego. Isn't that worth more than the few sets per year? ..so how would it be Lego's best interest to filter anything? 5000+ parts projects look impressive and they're the ones that are blogged the most. Ok, they would be blogged anyway, without Lego Ideas, but not this actively, and not pointing directly to Lego's own page. -

That's why I suggested to only submit the few pre-1985 ones, which are more iconic to me.

I have no interest in the game (which doesn't even have a PC version anyway), but I'm very interested in the 5 LBG 61409 slopes in the starter pack. I really can't imagine paying 90 bucks for 5 pieces, nor I can imagine them ending up on BrickLink so soon, as the packs would probably not be very profitable to a BL seller. So I really hope that the packs will quickly drop in price as much as other games, not like Lego sets.
-
You should submit the first classic ones to Lego Ideas, I'd vote for that. (I seem to remember a rule against remaking old sets though, but last time I checked I couldn't find it back). (That reminds me that I had tried to the opposite, a giant version of the 6823 set - but it wasn't any cute)

What should or should not be on Lego Ideas?

Star Wars would fit in "religious, warfare, political, violence", so who knows? Can't imagine Lego seeing a problem in a classic book. -
What should or should not be on Lego Ideas?

that's fiction, and it's old - but with Lego you never know, they will reject it if the title isn't capitalized properly -

Indeed. It's always worth mentioning the # of parts, which is more or less the same thing as coming up with a price (except for the ones not deeply into Lego, so it's not a bad idea). It's a recent tragedy, you know like me that there is -no way- Lego would do anything relative to a risky subject like this, and certainly not to praise the boat itself. As written above, the reviewer probably only saw "a boat", so I'm not blaming Lego for accepting it. I'm just really wondering about the motivation of the guy who posted that. Looks like hidden propaganda to me. Or surfing on popular events, I don't know - it's sure that if this hits a popular blog for its controversy, it's gonna get popular. And it's certainly not for the beauty of the boat, that thing could be -any- cruise ship. -

I'm quite baffled that Lego let this project pass: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/117448 I mean, this is not the Titanic, this event is pretty recent, and not even mentionning the victims, the guy writes "A great tribute to the ship would be..". I don't know if that's a troll project and how Lego let this pass, while they're very restrictive on everything. -
I would suspect they're not as strong indeed, I've only used them where I already had reinforcement. But clutch power is hard to evaluate. BrickLink & Bricker have info on each part's weight. I was also wondering why Lego uses 1x1 round plates a lot, instead of 1x1 plates, although if not for inventory reasons, it's probably to save plastic.
