[COR-FB] Captain Scarver at Port Woodhouse
Ayrlego replied to Justsomebrix's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Brilliant! I love your interpretation of the classic style used for Port Woodhouse and this build is a fantastic addition to the settlement. I love the use of fleshies with redcoats and the only reason I have never completely switched over to them is I simply don't have enough (and haven't worked out how to get Sir Dirk's face onto a flesh head yet!). Like Evan noted, the use of the officer torso for the troops is unique and I like it. I have a stack of those torsos so it is something I may borrow in the future. If you are interested, this is how I do my palm trees - I've tried a lot of different combos and I think this is my personal favourite. The full tutorial by Full Plate is here. Welcome to Corrington and I look forward to seeing your stories develop!- 15 replies

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hi Alix, welcome to BoBS. As Bregir stated, digital builds are perfectly acceptable and we have a few members who build solely digitally. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You are pretty much free to build as you wish - go nuts! The court will generally only make rulings if a build has an impact on the game itself - so for example, like Ross says if build quality is having an unfair impact on the EGS - or the story unfairly or negatively impacts another player or the game. -
With an expanded Corlander presence on Terraversa, the ETTC are also looking to extend their influence on the island. With the establishment of the free-trade zone in the independent Atwi heartland, ETTC shareholders including Sir Dirk Allcock have seen a potential opportunity. ETTC agents have already travelled into the interior and report that the Atwi traditionally sell a large amount of citrus fruit to the colonial Terraversan coastal settlements. The fruit; mainly oranges, can be enjoyed fresh or as juice - some Terraversan artisans even brew a fiery citrus liqueur - a Terraversan twist on a Mardierian classic. Indeed these agents have already organised the first caravans carrying these goods back to Westface. It has been decided that the ETTC should establish a presence close to the cross roads to coordinate this trade. While a simple warehouse would have been sufficient, Sir Dirk decided to look for something slightly more impressive - to make a statement not only to the Atwi, but to the other Madrician trade companies. A small aristocratic country estate was located, abandoned since the original Mardierian owners perished or fled after the first Terraversan war. Whilst the land attached to the estate was worked by the Atwi, they had no use for the formerly grand villa and so the ETTC have negotiated for it's use as a headquarters. After some quick repairs, it was soon operational. Here, an Atwi farmer negotiates the sale of a handcart of oranges to the ETTC agent, while an ETTC wagon awaits nearby to load up. An entry for the ETTC for Category E to be licensed by the ETTC as a large commerce.

@Capt Wolf Everything appears find on my end - is it working now? Meanwhile, here is the May-Jun summary.
-
Troop locations and numbers have now (finally) been fixed in the Mar-Apr summary which now should be finalised. I will start working on the May-Jun summary and post the WIP link here when it is semi-presentable!

Citizens of the Corlander colony of Jameston were treated to an unusual sight this month, with the arrival of several Molokoi Elephants and their mahouts from the old word. The decision to import elephants had been made by Colonel Allcock over two years ago in consultation with some of the leading Nizami citizens, who advised that the Molokoi elephants of their homeland would be ideally suited to the very similar climate and conditions on Celestia. Colonel Allcock, still stuck on Terraversa will be extremely disappointed to miss the final arrival of the pachyderms - a total of six elephants and their mahouts have made the journey - specially recruited and directly shipped from the Southern Molokoi Empire by agents of the ETTC. The mahouts and their mounts will be used for heavy work such as land clearing and logging and it is hoped that if successful, the elephants will be able to be bred locally. A build I've had on the bench for a little while - mainly to show off my new elephant I ran out an got when they first came out - but also to try my limited bright orange bricks on a small building. I also reversed the Patil twins torsos to see if they worked for yellow figs - I think they do. Anyway - it was nice to actually finish something - I haven't had a lot of Lego time recently and unfortunately I don't see that changing for a little while.
-
I see you have access to your bricks again - very nice!!! The barn style shaped roof was the instant stand-out here for me (well also the deer, but building wise definitely the roof!). Nice to see the old rope bridge make an appearance - I've wanted to use mine for a long time but have never quite worked it into a build (yet!). Nice work!
-
Great looking shrine, especially the use of the window frames. you may have only had limited pieces but you've certainly used them well!
-
"Is that a crocodile" - had me quietly giggling! nice work!
-
Works well - especially since you left the base relatively sparse - it definitely emphasises the fact they are children.

Ok, it seems there is broad support for an extension; which in the interest of full disclosure, is also great for me as it means I don't have to rush my Cat E entry which is nearly but not quite finished!!! So, how does the Sunday 22 August sound to all? It's a big challenge and we currently don't have advanced plans for the next challenge, so an extra month seems reasonable and should give us all time for some additional entries. To be fair to members who have submitted CAT D, E and F entries prior to today to the original deadline (tomorrow), I think a small bonus in score would be reasonable to be awarded - or alternatively they can modify or update their entry if they so desire. Also, I am very happy for members to submit multiple entries for these categories if they are inspired - although only the highest scoring entry will be eligible for rewards.

Results | Part One - Rebuilding Category A: Repairing the Gateway King's Port has been a hive of activity since the withdrawal of the occupying forces of Oleon as the citizens attempt to restore the 'Gateway' to it's former glory. Oldis appears to have solidified his position as leader of Terraversa with his potential rivals failing to secure any serious support (+1 internal stability for TER - New value = 4) . The rebuilding has not been as fast as Oldis would have liked; however, it is proceeding at a steady pace. Eslandolan trade companies have made their presence felt in the city, with the East Wind Trade Company establishing a headquarters and MAESTRO helping rebuild the harbour defences. Eslandola is also rumoured to have assisted in financing the repairs to Oldis' own palace (+1 NPC Royal Residence for Kingsport, EGS income for TER). In an attempt to re-normalise diplomatic relations, Oleon established an embassy and commissioned a war memorial. Meanwhile independent contractors repaired the cities extensive sewage system (+20% income for Sea Rat ships trading in KP for the next 2 MRCAs). 1st Place @Ayrlego: x1 free large property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 5 ship license (micro build required for activation) note - prize will be donated to EWTC 2nd Place @CapOnBOBS: x1 free medium property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 4 ship license (micro build required for activation) 3rd Place @Capt Wolf: x1 free small property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 3 ship license (micro build required for activation) Category B: Loyalist Stronghold Nola Mar has sprung forward in an attempt to assert it's significance on Terraversa as fitting the capital of the Kingdom of Light's newest territory. While there was some talk initially for making Nola Mar a military stronghold controlled by the army, the clerics of the Faith have quickly and overwhelmingly taken control (+1 NPC Royal Art and Culture for Nola Mar - No EGS income). Activity in Nola Mar over the period was higher than in either of the other two capitals (+4 Large NPC residences for Nola Mar, income to OL). 1st Place @CapOnBOBS: x1 free large property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 5 ship license (micro build required for activation) 2nd Place @Ayrlego: x1 free medium property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 4 ship license (micro build required for activation) 3rd Place @Thomas Waagenaar: x1 free small property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 3 ship license (micro build required for activation) Category C: A Fresh Start It would seem the L'Olius is prepared to listen to his advisors, specifically those advocating for an initial expansion to the agrarian industries for the new Commonwealth (+1 NPC Royal Plantation for Westface, EGS income for COT). Corrington lost no time expanding their trading presence in Westface, with the ETTC opening a new factory and market as well as financing windmills. Oleon too has taken an interest in the new nation, financing an Iron mine, sawmill and bank (+1 diplomatic relation with COT - New value 4 'Unfriendly'). 1st Place @Ayrlego: x1 free large property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 5 ship license (micro build required for activation) 2nd Place @Bregir: x1 free medium property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 4 ship license (micro build required for activation) 3rd Place @CapOnBOBS: x1 free small property license (micro build required for activation, usable anywhere) OR x1 free Class 3 ship license (micro build required for activation) Participation Bonus: Players who submitted a valid entry for Part One are eligible to choose one of the following: One free Class 3 ship licence (to be activated by microbuild) One free small property licence for any location (activated by microbuild) One free medium property licence for any settlement on Terraversa (activated by microbuild) Eligible Players for Part One: @CapOnBOBS, @Thomas Waagenaar, @Professor Thaum, @Capt Wolf, @Faladrin, @Ross Fisher, @KotZ, @LM71Blackbird, @Faladrin, @Bregir In addition to the above, builders who rank number one in category for their faction may upgrade their participation bonus licences as follows: One free Class 4 ship licence (to be activated by microbuild) One free medium property licence for any location (activated by microbuild) One free large property licence for any settlement on Terraversa (activated by microbuild) Eligible Players for upgrade: @Professor Thaum @Capt Wolf @Faladrin @CapOnBOBS @LM71Blackbird @Bregir note: As host I disqualified myself from this bonus. All micro licenses must be used prior to 1st October 2021.

[OL - CH IV - CAT B] Faith on the water
Ayrlego replied to Thomas Waagenaar's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A very cute little build and great entry! I especially like the cheese slopes as sidings, works really well at that scale. Well done! -
Just state 'Interior - Terraversa' or something to that effect in your license form and that will be fine. Income will be calculated the same as any other NPC settlement - we just won't be keeping track of the settlement size for EGS purposes.
-
A well thought out and written story that fits the category well. The extra element of the silver arriving is an interesting addition. The build itself at first glance didn't seem as detailed as some of your recent builds, but then when I had a closer look the details began to reveal themselves! The wooden inserts in the windows with the differing textures are a good example and the sign post is a nice touch. the green border frames the buildings and roads nicely. Nice entry for the RNTC!

Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II

If someone in Oleon wants to create a Nola Mar settlement page, I'll update the settlement index and people can post their Cat B entries there. -
[COR - CHIV - CAT B] Military Supply Depot
Ayrlego replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I think this may be my new favourite of yours in physical bricks! The colour palette is probably not one I would consider (I mean sand green and lime green.... bold Sir, very bold!!!) but it works so well!!! The white and the grey also make for an interesting weathered look. The building itself has a great amount of details and the base plate elevates the whole build really nicely. Overall it's just a really great aesthetic and a fantastic entry. Well done!- 8 replies

Great building with a nice, exotic feel. I like the way you have done the roof and incorporated the vegetation into the courtyard.
