[Model MOC] T-47 Airspeeder (Snowspeeder)

Weird, using panel pieces instead of tiles looks too sparse in my opinion. Looking good overall though (:- 161 replies

I used to organise them according to set carefully, but that was when I would build every set and keep it built or modify it to some degree. Sometimes I would also put them somewhere on the set as well. Now I find that more often I just part out a set even sometimes before I've built it, so extras just get sorted with the rest of the parts. -
This is outstanding. The cannons on the back are really well done. There are so many great little details everywhere, just well done.

Cheers bud. The wings are kind of sturdy but it depends. The top/back split is only attached by a 1x2 bracket so that's quite weak, but everything else is acceptable I would say, for a model I guess.

Cool stuff, what head is that for mon mothma? I've also go padme's head, body, and legs, ready to swap out for a proper looking head. The clone wars prints are just awful, the updated version looks great.

hello again! so, I feel like the whole assembly is basically finished now. From the last update, I have had to change a lot of the structure whilst trying to maintain the same appearance. The main change is that I shortened the distance between each set of wings to 6 studs, it was previously 8. Before, it looked out of proportion and I think the new distance will better accommodate the sleeker fuselage of the new x-wing. However, I still have this nagging feeling that the wings are too wide. Once I get to some preliminary work for the fuselage I'll see if I will do anything about it. The brown and blue plates are just there to hold the 1x1 clips in place for now. Hopefully after some time, the flex tubes will have bent into that kind of shape, otherwise the outward force on the clips is too strong. If that doesnt work I think I'll have to mould them into shape with heat. I'm pretty happy with the whole engine section. I really would have liked to include the outward offset of the thrusters, but for now they are in line with the centre of the faux-intakes. some parts are obviously placeholders until I have the right colour. Please leave your thoughts, i love to hear them! (:

Dude, I don't mean to be rude, but making an ldd file of a model that you've only made in real bricks (which is what I assume is the case with this), is really time consuming . Why don't you use your imagination and try to reverse engineer it ?

I don't think they're scaled at all really -

Are Lego testing the water for future cloud city set/s?
atlas replied to LOBOT-OMY's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's really bad that so much of episode v is neglected but we have 5 different versions of basically every possible scenario on hoth. This would be cool: Twin-Pod Cloud Car ~300 pieces Includes: Pilot, Lando Calrissian (baron administrator), Leia (bespin gown), bespin guard (one of the guys with the pencil moustaches) then you could do the duel one of two ways Escape from Cloud City ~700 pieces has two sections, one is the end of the catwalk where Vader beats Luke, the other could be the area where leia, Lando and the others escape the stormtroopers. Action feature gimmicks for kids also. Includes: Vader (ESB), Luke (bespin, battle damaged clothes and face prints, also with 75052 hair in dark tan), R2, Leia (hoth jumpsuit but as worn in bespin, stormtrooper, and either chewie, Lando Or just the catwalk as a little set with Vader and Luke, but of course this is a non starter because Lego needs to have Vader is $100+ sets only. Also a dagobah set would be great. When the new t-65 x wing is redone, it should be on dagobah, with maybe a little hut . ~700 pieces. Includes Luke (training montage gear), yoda, dirty r2, and Ben as force ghost But of course, instead they will produce absolutely rubbish ships from a tv show that will warm shelves for months. I find it hard to believe that the people at Lego would go ahead with that instead of the variety of iconic scenes, vehicles etc. that are ignored It's also pretty awful that there are only 16 sets from episode 2 of which only 13 are original, but there's already that many for Episode 7 -
Thanks for your kind words everybody . Hopefully another update in the next few days, I'm trialling a completed look for the engine assembly .

https://www.flickr.c...05/26988440594/ Okay so I made some more small progress here and there. Apparently I goofed pretty hard, you can't really see it in the above photo but the right wings (the more unfinished ones) were actually elevated 1 plate higher than the ones in the foreground, so I had to fix that. Thankfully it wasn't too complicated. I'm not really sure what is the best way to go about getting the right shape for the engines, at the moment this is a bit of a draft, any suggestions or criticism is absolutely welcome. Here's the reference I've been using for this area, I believe it's a Bandai build. (also I forgot to add. im working on an ldd file but it doesn't like a few of the connections I have made in real pieces, so we'll see how it goes i guess)

Cute vignette, has a really nice ambience to it. Your vegetation is really well executed and all of the beautiful new pathfinder soldier figures top it off. Well done

Wow, this is looking great. I've never seen that technique used for the cannons before, I also really like that you've decided the brick build the cockpit rather than use the crappy Lego version that comes with the new x wings. You've got some great angles going on. One thing i would suggest though is just to put another wedge plate in top of the wedge bricks next to the engines. Also, I haven't look at the lxf so I'm not sure it is possible, but the constant 2 wide tiles down the nose look a little bit thick to me. If you found a way to have it start at 2 wide at the cockpit front and go down to 1 wide where it meets the nose cone that would look incredible. Keep going, I would love to see some more updates !

thanks to both of you, I can't wait either, trying to solve these angles is slow going though!
-
Thanks ! Yeah, I disguised it by having the scissor open in the photo, but when you close the wings, both of the front ones sag a little bit. I am definitely going to add in some 1x2x5s when I get ahold of them but I think the strength of the mechanism is what needs work. The 'Snot' sections of the wings actually surprised me, they don't really sag at all (yet), the connections between the normal plates up/down and bricks on the side just need to be strengthened a little bit I think.
-
Getting closer, it's a bit temperamental at the moment but they shut completely flush, just have to find a way to stop them drooping.
-
Here's a quick photo. As I said has been collecting dust for a while, hopefully in my next session I can work out a solid scissor and get the ball rolling again. https://www.flickr.c.../in/dateposted/

Cheers every one. For the angle I used a 1x2 plate with clip with a technic pin in between like this. (And yes I am building plo koons version!)

Thanks! I have basically completed the outer wing (I ended up truncating it to 2 tall slopes long instead of three because it was way big) and also have been messing around with a scissor mechanism and the basis of the engines but haven't touched it in a couple of weeks. Now that I'm done with the Jedi starfighter I'll have more time to dedicate this and hopefully post an update !
-
cheers!! I don't have instructions, but I could try and post some breakdown pics if you like, though I'll have to wait a few days.

This is my version of khatmorg's incredible delta-7 model (which you should view here www.flickr.com/photos/95628537@N02/8735306298/in/dateposted/ and here http://www.eurobrick...2931&hl=delta-7) . I originally built their model as per the original build over a year ago but a few months ago I started fiddling with it and have now arrived at a point where I'm satisfied with it. It was difficult to find other ways to achieve some angles (the source is so good already!) especially in the back and as a result that area is quite fragile and use some illegal connections. Most of the changes are concerned with the bottom, spine and rear sections. I haven't been able to find a way to find a way to hide some little landing gears in the back of the wedge where it fattens out a bit yet so the ones you can see in the other photos are just attached externally. Also it is about 8 to 10 studs too long as a result of the angle of the 1x3 wedge plate, according to the rough scale I used. That isn't ideal for me as I like to scale it right to a degree, but the additional detail you can add on a bigger model is good as well. I also wanted to try an alternative solution to miniaturise the dual laser cannons, and add the other half on the bottom but haven't solved that issue either. I might pick this up again later and play with it some more but for now I'm content to reveal it. I hope all of you enjoy. Thanks to khatmorg for being so great about sharing their creation. The stand is based on sydag's method which you can see here (www.flickr.com/photos/sydag/16129935387/in/dateposted/). It's simple and ingenious. You can view the rest of photos in the album (www.flickr.com/photos/48109771@N05/albums/72157668258477972).
