  1. Thanks. So...i saw the film earlier today. I was actually surprised to find that the T-70s are quite white. They actually seemed more white than the t-65s in the original trilogy. That'll throw a spanner in the works. I think I might continue with this, but in Poe's colours until I'm done and then I'll duplicate it in white/grey (I really wish there was a dullish white/ faint grey colour! So appropriate in so many situations)
  2. Wow, I don't mean to be insensitive but this is absolutely unbelievable. If you adopt that kind of view towards danger then how can you possibly live out your life? The chances of dying on a highway or in a car are astronomically higher than in a theatre. For your sake Inhope you get to see it in a theatre.
  3. I know. I'm just saying that if profit wasn't required in the production of Lego, it would be better for everyone that uses lego. Except scalpers and people who clear shelves of course.
  4. Cheers. I am too. At the moment with the wacky colours and some gaps, it's hard to visualise how it will look. I also started replicating the Poe's black and orange. Those colours really pop.
  5. If you think about it though, you have to admit that "exclusive"ly marketed lego products are made scarce artificially. If lego was produced not according to what will turn a profit (or what will satisfy Disney for example), none of this would be an issue. The only reason Boba in 75137 is different to Boba in 75060 is to maintain the scarcity of "UCS boba" and in doing so increase the demand for 75060. We shouldn't anticipate any different . That's unfortunately the world we live in and it sucks. First world symptoms of a global problem
  6. Thanks joe. It looks like I will definitely have to use some stickers. I've been fiddling with this for hours and I can't figure out a way to achieve the very slight inward slope of the leading edge of the front wings with some gaps. Other than that I'm very happy with the aesthetic of these snot wings. If anyone has anything at all to add please don't hesitate to do so. Ideally I won't need to apply stickers but everything I've tried except a staggered flat leading each leaves some gaps. I'll attach an LDD file of the current setup if anyone would like to mess around with it. t70.lxf
  7. I think the staircase folds up to mimic the upward flight of stairs that Luke confronts Vader at next to the platform. When it's flipped up it actually represents the lights in each stair quite well. Aside from the Ugnaughts that is really the only aspect of this set that impressed me. The freezing mechanism is bizarre, and it seems like this is the hundredth time a variation of Han frozen in carbonite (or just prior or after freezing) has appeared. There is so much more that has been neglected, especially from Bespin that would have worked better.
  8. Today I started my next project, a model of the new T-70 x wing from star wars. I think I have the back wings figured out, here is a concept for it. Colours not final obviously. I'll continue to add to this thread as I make more progress. I decided on light gray for this. White just looks out of place to me and it doesn't appear that way even some of the time as the T-65 did depending on lighting. The wings (at least from my limited reference) are also seeming to be slightly thicker on the new ship, so I went with a snot design instead of 2 plates thick. I think that curve arch piece is the only really sufficient way to capture the curve of the wingtip with fidelity so I based the design on mounting each laser on each wing with those piece. Next, I'll tackle the front wings and engine assembly, maybe the rear fuselage.
  9. I'm not personally worried about that. Scalping is poor I think.
  10. No worries brother. Looks good.
  11. Imgur.com. Just upload to there, very easy. Then paste the links here
  12. Totally agree. The best part is that now that the techs with the black hats will be readily available, I'll be able to order some separately to replace the dbg hats that I currently have on the techs that I already own, and then use the dbg hats to replace the old kepi hats on the officers! It's great.
  13. Nice. To be honest I think you've pretty much reached the limit of accuracy in terms of modifying the set without completely rebuilding the whole thing. The way it's built just doesn't allow you to make a properly proportioned model. As I said though the changes you've made are excellent and really improve the set.
  14. Okay so originally when I started building this almost a year ago, I was just following krispys LDD to the letter. Eventually it stalled and sat collecting dust for about 10 months. Then about a month ago I picked it up again and began revising it. After a few days the only bits that still matched krispy's model were the two white side wedge modules. I didn't like the anti-studs on the bottom, so I basically gutted what I had built and started a SNOT structure with two 1x10 plates stacked on top of each other and attached at either end to each module. From there the "bottom" assembly, which you can see is basically what everything attaches to in the photos above, grew out from that little beam connecting each wedge. This structural overhaul allowed me to have studs up on the top and bottom of the model.
  15. Thanks everyone. Almost finished now, just the nose and some parts need replacing and completing
  16. Worked out how to embed the images in the post. They should appear now
  17. As you wish. The model is basically organised into 6 modular components.
  18. Hahaha. I appreciate your concern. It's just an old exercise book with some revision my brother did years ago.
  19. Correct. There is a good reason that most Lego sets save for ones specifically targeted at teenagers and adults and built in quite a simple fashion. The main fuselage on my model is so far quite strong and stays in one piece. However, the exterior details, I.e the engines, guns, nose assembly, rear greebling, is quite weak so as to provide for the most detail I can achieve. It's a model rather than a toy isn't it. I'm still excited for the Rebels A-wing though. More pilots, probably Ahsoka, maybe Sato. Yes please. I could post some pictures of the guts if some of you would like. I've also made some minor advances in the past few days but nothing major.
  20. I hope this isn't the case but they may well just use 4L trans clear blades
  21. Hahahaha, what a pleasant coincidence!! Well done and thanks for contributing here.
  22. hi Hans, great photo and insight. Surely you would be able to get a special run of parts organised !?
  23. (how can I make these enormous images just load as thumbnails unless you want to blow them up?) Okay, so this is nine days after the first pictures in the OP: 12 days after those: 5 days ago. Some cockpit detail if you can see.
