    I like deco and and that lego is changing things up a bit but this building feels like a slightly weird combination of styles. Why would there be a deco diner (along with matching tower element) with the older/more traditional architecture on left side of the upper floors? Seems like an unrealistic combo - i could imagine a 100% deco building or even a traditional/historic building with a different (modernized) architecture at retail storefront but the fact that the deco is only carried up a portion of the upper levels here feels strange/not like what i generally see in real world cities. Said another way, seems like the deco should be just at ground floor or on the whole building, not just portions....?

    So does the presence of mid 2000's Lego sets in the AFOL apartment answer the age old question of what era are the modulars? No longer early 1900s?

    So much great stuff! Piano, drum set, train set, dentist's office, another bathroom, photo shoot...not to mention great exterior detail and parts use! + inverted corner(s) - everything so many have asked for, all in one set!

    Welcome, this is great! You nailed the cast iron facades and that billboard design is really cool. Very nice looking NYC street, hope to see more in the future!

    Thanks JonnyYeti, I built the underground part for the subway a while ago but am realizing now it could make it easy to add a basement/containment level to GBHQ - would be great to see pics if you end up doing something like it!

    Incredible work! I really like the modern touches in the traditional buildings (ie glass stairs, shower and coffee table) and the simple yet well-designed brownstone facade

    I built an NYC subway car (thread here: http://www.eurobrick...37#entry2169945) and an underground station for my modulars (thread here: http://www.eurobrick...96#entry2196579). Not sure how well either would translate to an official set, but would love it if Lego did release something one day. I also once tried building a more "official set sized" diorama version of the above in a competition, it didn't turn out how I would have liked (I blame it on the time constraints...) but pic here: https://www.flickr.c...eposted-public/

    Anyone think that parts of this will lift off ("modular style") in addition to hinging open? Based on some of the visible plates I hope it does. Simpsons house already showed both could be done...

    Long time modular fan, casual GB fan, very excited about this set - looking forward to it more than the Brick Bank and already making space in my modular layout, feels like, more than the haunted house, this was designed to fit in. Other than a few minor quibbles already stated by others, seems like they nailed the exterior and that this will be a very nice addition to the Ecto 1, hoping there are more GB sets to come...

    Believe he actually now leads creator or at least creator expert design so has a number of designers on his team Back on topic, maybe its just me, but im noticing some nice similarities in BB to my favorite, the FB: Stonework on ground floor, big windows/doors with arches in center, tall/narrow windows on sides.... Reinforces that this could make the nice basis for a mod into all sorts of other types of buildings/uses, police station, museum, office, etc

    I like the laundromat - printed window with open sign is great plus easy enough to switch that and the "sign" out to make it a different type of business Nice to see a corner bank, but, kind of wish the architecture or size was a bit grander....of course will still get it, may just need some mods like the DO Also, I think, not since FB->GE have two consecutive modulars looked so good side by side as this and DO Finally, the new 40221 looks like it will complement this nicely http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=115714

    very nice - I like the garage doors use as glass rails and the blue tiles as shades behind the trans blue windows look great

    Just to play devils advocate, plenty of old movie theatres had windows on the outside (even the one PC seemed to be modeled on), maybe unlike the lego version they had curtains or a lobby behind them (as opposed to just open to the screening room) but working at lego scale and needing a way to dress up the exterior architecture, i dont mind the windows here. All that said, would have loved a decco theater similar to some of the great MOCs we've seen here and here
