LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Steckley replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I picked up a few today from my local Walmart. Sadly no Hot Dog Guy, but now I have a reason to go back tomorrow. -
I love your project! It really captures the feel of a vintage gas station. One of the most common items they sold (and many still do) were travel maps. A couple printed map tiles on a display stand would go well in the interior I think. A few oil cans on a shelf on a wall is another suggestion. Lastly, an air pump for tires, perhaps with a child and their bike next to it, would augment the authentic feel.

My first set was the Fire Station (570). I still have it but sadly the instructions have not survived.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion

Hot Dog Guy may just be the best minifig ever. -
Last year I had no trouble finding them but this year they seemed to sell out everywhere. Last year I picked up the City and Star Wars calendars in late November on clearance for 50% off. This year I had to search for them and sadly had to pay full price for them. Next year if Costco has them in August again, I'll pick them up.

Perhaps because it was my first, 6075 will always be the castle by which I judge all others. Every time I open my box of childhood LEGO I see the partially constructed drawbridge and some of the Knights staring back at me, I should rebuild it again one of these days.

<Reviews above post in silent admiration. Realizes that words simply can't do justice to the awesomeness that's just been witnessed. Bows reverently and leaves>

Welcome. Just wait until the hobby starts taking up more and more space in the home! Hopefully she'll be okay with it and perhaps even join in. :-)

Welcome, Reiss. Be careful. Seeing the wonderful things the talented people on this site can make may spark a desire to try building something yourself.

Welcome. That's a great gift to receive. I'd like to receive one myself! :-)

Thank you, Balbo.

I put up our outside lights today. Like dr_spock said, it's not nice doing it when it's minus twenty outside. Next weekend it will be time to buy the tree and decorate it. That's when I really start getting excited for Christmas. I think its the smell of a fresh pine In the house that brings it home for me.

I have to admit that it was with no small degree of trepidation that I ordered the Cinema. I'm worried it will be like a gateway drug for me and I'm now im going to be hooked on the modulars.

That is a fantastic display! I love how there are so many little hubs of activity scattered throughout. Amazing work. I'm planning on doing something like this (but in a much smaller scale due to space restrictions) this year for the first time to add the to usual Christmas ornaments we put up around the house each year. You've given me some great ideas. Thanks for sharing.

My "burnout" usually comes from a physical base, i.e. the pads on my thumbs become sore from pressing the bricks together and then I just get tired of building anything. Always resolves itself once my thumbs have recovered.

I was keeping all my boxes for years, mostly because it was LEGO and I never throw out a LEGO. Then I moved residences and had to move them all with everything else I owned. I realized that I hadn't looked at them or done anything with them since I bought them. They had just sat there in plastic storage bins for years. I have a personal rule for everything else I own that if I don't use something for two years then I should either throw it out or donate it to charity, so I started questioning why I was keeping them. As I don't foresee a day I will ever sell the sets, I decided the boxes no longer had any value to me so I recycled them. Now whenever I open a set I just put the empty box into the recycling bin.

I was going to wait until Black Friday to pick up the Palace Cinema but the double VIP points changed my mind so I ordered it today. My first modular. I'm not sure if this deal is at all Targets but I picked up a copy of the 70163 Toxikita's Toxic Meltdown for a great price at the Target at the Bramalea City Centre today. It's regularly $49.99 but is on sale for $24.99 (although the price cut sign has disappeared it's still scans for the sale price) and if you use the $5 coupon from their Toy Wish Book (they still have a few scattered around the store) it brings the price down to $19.99. Not a bad deal for a pretty cool set.

Perfect choice for the colour scheme. It conveys a cool mood and the desolate nature of an arctic wasteland, so appropriate for the kind of world Freeze envisions. Great work!

I hear it's beautiful there. I have couple aunts that live near Vancouver. I haven't made it out there yet but it's on my bucket list.

Thanks. Where in BC are you from? I didn't know about the one in Yorkdale. I'll have to check it out sometime. I'm not sure what I'm doing on Sunday yet. Where and what time is the meeting? Can non-members attend? What takes place at a LUG meeting?

Fantastic!

Welcome but I have to disagree with you. LEGO is never insalubrious (and, yes, I admit I had to look that one up). LEGO makes us happy and happiness is a tonic for anything that brings us down. Those delightful plastic bricks are good for your mental health.

3? I thought there were only 2 in the GTA (Sherway and Fairview). Where's the third? Do you belong to ToroLug?

That's a fantastic place to display it. I think I'll shed a tear or two when I hear that it's been torn down, but if your next build is half as good as this one, I'll recover quickly. Can't wait to see what you do next.
