  1. Heh, yes, this crane was the set that tempted me back too. Though I'm fortunate enough not to have lost all of my old sets, which I'm now revisiting with much nostalgia!
  2. If LDD all becomes too much, then a decent set of staged photos as you disassemble might be a decent substitute :) And the beauty of it being a C-model is there's much less need for a bill of materials.
  3. Looks good. I'm a big fan of the C-model concept (limiting parts to one source set), and there seem to be several good ones for the 42009. Any plans for instructions once you reach a version you're happy with?
  4. First time I've come across LiftingBricks' Liebherr - that's just astonishing!
  5. Came back to technic with 42009 after a break since 8880 and the control centre II, and was one of the first things I noticed as a difference from the old style (and not for the better in my opinion). The old sets would fit both A and B models into one big book, and the number of steps required was much less (and of course that means usually more parts/more challenge per step). 42009's instructions could easily be fitted into half the number of pages without increasing the difficulty level - the number of steps which require only a single piece (or occasionally even a full page spread with no pieces added at all) seems a little ridiculous! :)
  6. What you have effectively tried to create in your picture above is a 234 triangle, which obviously won't work. (Is there a way to edit existing posts in this, rather than keeping adding more when I think of another comment? :) )
  7. Another way to think about it is that the "corners" of the triangle are actually the central axes of the holes/pegs at the corners.
  8. You need to count the space from one hole to the next, not just the number of holes. So a 345 triangle would be a 456 in terms of Lego beam lengths. Does that help?
  9. Nicely done, would love to have a go at building this one.
  10. This looks fantastic - love all the combined functions you've included, and the accurate mimicry of the real thing. Excellent job.
  11. Great stuff - looking forward to the instructions! Rishab, intrigued that you don't like the B model - I thought it was really interesting. Each to their own I guess :)
  12. Thank you. It seems odd that they don't do a big launch in time for the Christmas rush...
  13. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere: what time of year do the new batches of sets usually get released?
