  1. There were also loads of them way after Christmas at my local Lego store, however they weren't really clearanced - clearance to me is 30% or over. It was a set that I liked but was too expensive for me to buy at a time when I had other things higher up the list (like Mill Village Raid). About $50 is my price range for a set that only comes out (in my house) on a seasonal occasion often with mini figs that are already available in other sets. I would have bought it on clearance. That being said I think they really need a winter train station and a new train.
  2. I like looking back at the earlier pictures of what people bought. I remember visiting a store when they had sand blue 1x2's on the brick wall, unfortunately I was in my dark ages then. Its tantilising and heart breaking to see everything missed!
  3. I find that grab bags an my local store sell out in a few hours but that they make them 2-3 times a month. I phone and sometimes I will be told they have them, at least twice I have been told no they dont and wont have any, yet I've visited anyway since I was in the area, and there they are on the shelf! So I find it really is ymmv. Also sometimes they are pick a brick blocks that have been spilt/left over and they need room for the new blocks in and other times they are broken down brand ribbon sets. Good bags do happen but you have to be diligent and lucky.
  4. I like the minifigs expressions Blaze =)
  5. The one set I know is currently out, cheaper in price and has it is Catwoman's City Cycle Chase. Then other possibles are a $5 Atlantis set: 7976 Ocean Speeder if you have TRU near you may still have them. Otherwise Fight for the Dagger Pop set had it recently. And the game Pirate Code had 12 of them. And for a more expensive set Destiny's Bounty has it.
  6. Ahh!!!! now I see why you said I wouldn't see behind the doors, its another set! Um but that crystal is pink. Don't we have to use a clear one?
  7. Being sold in the LEGO shops and online only, those firefighter blister packs probably had a lot smaller production run than the SW battlepacks and so cost more to produce. Now if only they had have produced them in the same format as the SW battle packs with the 4 guys, a bit bigger tree and the flame that they already had...
  8. @Blaze I wont read stories until mine is finished but how could I resist looking at the pictures I love the Chapter 6 picture of the three adventurers looking up the steps to the BIG doors with the statues. The blue in the lamps caught the light really well. I look forward to the inside. And Ecclesiastes you need to give us more of a hint that just that Mayan style wall face!!!
  9. Another week or preferably two would be good. No series of story mocs for me but I will get this thing done and entered. Its past the point of no return now and I need to see what I planned come into a finished product otherwise everything that come before seems a waste! I've done most of the truely fun bits though - those bits where you have a vision but don't know if it will be workable in bricks and you sit there and fiddle into the wee hours . Now I just have to combine all those bits into the moc.
  10. I would love an extension to the challenge 3 deadline!!! I want to get something submitted, but the difference between feeling I have to get it done and work all hours vs enjoying the hours that it takes to build it is definitely an extended deadline I am building an air shrine. The dainty building is meant to be light and cloud-spun, a perfect complement to our air crystal but its location and its guardian bring the ominous in. I have a question. Are we meant to do a starting MOC too? I can see others have done moc after moc telling the story in many scenes. I am having an anxiety bout! feeling severely disadvantaged and discouraged. Epic I can do, fast however - not in my lexicon
  11. Yes I bought 2 at 3.49 bogo, then went back two days later hunted through for half an hour to pick out things I was missing. I was disgusted when I reached the cash register and they range up buy one 3.99 get one 1.99. I decided although I would have liked extras I was just too repulsed by their tactics to buy from them.
  12. I would like to enter if I get time, but that's in short supply since its Easter. And I'll have to get it finalised asap if I do because I'll need to order some clear parts. BTW guys, how do you put small images of your MOCs in your profile footer?
  13. Great job everyone and congratulations on well deserved titles. As a moc I loved Ecclesiastes but as a plan for our city I liked the thought behind the layout in Darkdragons. It always amazed me the detail and ingenuity that you all managed to fit in such a small space. Well done.
  14. I wash a lot of garage sale legos - some of them are pretty disgusting. I do what everyone here has said put them in the washing machine after separating out the stickered pieces. I also separate out any large transparent windows so they aren't scratched. I use the zippable laundry bags from walmart/bed bath & beyond to keep them contained. Good luck trying a general wash or the vinegar tip. Let us know how it goes.
  15. A very cute house! All the little details packed into the small space. The hose is very eye catching. The shape of the table works so well in that space and I like the plant on the window sill.
  16. I agree but I'm amazed at the price of the train set. After the $20 set these are all more than 10c per piece and its not even a licensed set! I love the new green tree pieces in the werewolf set and smallest set: two guys (one a gorgeous swamp monster), a frog and a silver fish + blocks for $7, best deal there. I'm glad the helicopter in the mummy sets doesn't have much to it except the dark red cone and a grey corrugated round brick, it lets the chariot have all the great gold pieces but doesnt bump the price of the set up. Is that a pearl gold palisade brick at the front of the chariot?
  17. This is gorgeous. That big flower is a delight with the curves. What did you use for the small blue flowers in the bottom right? Are they clickits? Very inspiring.
  18. My local b&m lego shop will order the box of bricks for you (about $80 if I remember correctly) but I believe it has to be a brick that is on their availability list. If you have a store close to you may be worth asking. But really I would suggest digital or smaller scale.
  19. What is the piece that is milky white and connects the bottom of the dish below the globe to what I think is an upside-down palm tree trunk?
  20. 1. Brickmaker's Shop by tatertots - 3 points 27. The Winter Mercantile by dede_la_fee - 2 points
  21. I didn't intend to buy these sets until they went on sale, but this one I had to have. (And the cafe is a must too after seeing a review, and maybe once I read one of the beauty parlor....) I can see this line may be hard on my purse.
  22. Love to have new monsters. That swamp man is now I just need a man in a scooby doo suit in the CM
  23. If possible I'ld like to sign up for this guild please. I never get that much time over Christmas but hopefully this continues past then! When I think of norse and midgard, as a symbol I think of the world serpent Jormungand/Ouroborus. The serpent that has its tail in its mouth. Thank you, Cara. 24. Glendale CA lego shop has scorpions on the brick wall. I'm so used to seeing them in the BAM box only. I couldn't resist buying a cup.
