I can see I have a lot to catch up on! Just arrived back from a week in southern california, took the kids to Disneyland and they liked it but wanted to go back to Legoland (which we didn't do this time around). We also didn't get to any lego shop :( Urg the traffic there! It took us three hours just to get out of the city. Now I have a board to catch up on, a weeks worth of family laundry, a lego desk to tidy, and all the chores I put off while finishing up Challenge IV and which I realise I haven't even posted in this thread yet either. I'll get to that later -
I am going to be making a trip to Los Angeles. I wondered if anyone knew of anything interesting on the brick walls in any of the brand shops down there. I will not be going to Legoland this time though. Thank you!

I like the look of that unit its nice and clean lines, I would love it in my house, without its wheels. Especially for smaller pieces, if you get/build good dividers or keep your pieces in smaller tubs inside the drawers. I warn you though lego increases exponentially so plan for bigger drawers/cabinets once you have tubs of each colour to store. Have you told your girlfriend you're trying to find good looking storage solutions? If she browses furniture shops/magazines she may already have an idea of something she likes that might be useful to you.

I love all the shapes you have going on in there. Its my favourite build of yours so far. That first photo I thought there was violet/blue in it too. I love the way that is lit! And I am very envious of your white tree leaves

I saw this on flickr and really liked it then. There is great detail and I look forward to seeing the free build!

Thank you. Forcing the perspective change with the micro under the bridge being larger than the micro in the cliff side was important to me. I really wanted to go all out and embrace that still-frame scene with microscale background of the challenge. A person so terrified they would leap in a river with the city being destroyed behind them. There is a shot on flickr of it from the perspective of the person with huge, out of focus, elemental in the background. The evenings I started this build I put a few pictures up on flickr of how I built the bridge. I do that to encourage myself to keep going. I have to have progress I can see in a tangible way. Me too . That second picture was how I imagined the still-frame scene, the terror and need to flee embodied by one person. (With all the other people - minifigure trophies - in the background rushing to the dock to do the same). It was really fun finding normal size pieces that evoke the feeling of the micro scale. My other two favourite pieces were the Technic driving ring extension (32187) for the smaller turrets because the peaks on the side of it copied the pattern of the peaks on the drill, one pin inside and a cone fits perfectly. And the hinge brick 1x2 top plate (3938) that I used upside down for the crenellations on the top of the walls. This meant that I had to build all the walls upside down and connect them with 1x1 technics brick with holes (6541) so I had a stud to stud connection. Oh, and I guess the trash can for the turret wall. And there are some pieces I particularly enjoyed using in the Phoenix head too The bridge is angled on each side, where the smaller arches are. Each end curves at about 35 degrees from the center so it all fits nicely inside the 48x48. This build is not built upon a baseplate. I first drew around a 48x48 plate onto my desk, then put down a pieces of slightly larger clear perspex so that I could see the build limits. I built modularly on that so that I could move around different elements of the build to get the composition. I later linked all of the landscaping together. That was the hope =) There are trans red->neon orange->orange cones in the water too. The trans purple and the trans orange cheese slopes were on the brick wall a few months ago and it seemed so meant to be that I had to use them. But I used up every bit of flex tubing I have to string the cones upon! They are mixed with trans black and black for texture. I would like to too! That evokes lots of great pictures. My problem is lack of time!

I like the blurred, yet still, picture of the spinning. Great use of motors. Lovely.

The Awakening In the annals of the palace library are were stories that our great city was built in celebration upon the the site where a monstrous elemental was vanquished. Little did we know those that vanquished it did not kill it, but rather returned it to its long sleep. Now the city burns on the wrath of this elemental as it awakens. The town in panic rushing to the dock: The city in destruction: The Phoenix and the Castle: Closeup of the town: (removed the bridge and some landscaping for better access) More pictures on my Flickr Album!

Mine will be coming!!! Though everyday this week I think, hmm I'm maybe two evenings out. I want to photograph it on Saturday in the daylight. I interpreted the micro-scale landscape in the background more like Soccerkid did. I've been surprised by how its been worked so far. -
Hehe, that is fun.

I hae been having a lot of time-outs over the last three days.

I'm always partial to curved things. The floor, the boats for bookshelves, the technic wall. That you added an extra alcove at the back and didn't keep it a round tower I just love this. Edit: Do you have more pictures on flickr or somewhere?

The viking ship eaves are adorable! Such lovely shapes they make. Now I need to go to flickr and see all the detail in large pictures .

You should have told us all it was on purpose to let us better see the action in the building I like it without the roof because there is enough building to give us a sense of in situ but it doesn't darken or hide the true features of the winery. Nice build. Please don't tell me that what I see on flickr was started after lunch and then finished! And I've been feeling really good about being able to build something inside a month recently I really look forward to seeing it all together. -
These are great! So recognisable especially considering the limited torso options available and the flag is a great background choice.

Yes! And (after asking) I have handed over the centers to the employees as trash.

I do the same unless its deep on the inside. And yes sometimes I've had to go back and pull it out because I ran low on a colour . But I've also had times when a good photograph shows up those slivers of yellow or red in that tiny crevice or corner that probably only I really notice but that niggles so much I can't stand it. -

There could be some tiny friends in his future... we will have to see, because he dominates the build so I do not want smaller ones further forward than he is and I may not have the room to put them flying in the sky further back, which is where I would put them if I could.
