@soccerkid6: So what other challenge are you working on now that you eluded to in your entry post? I decided to go a little warmer for this fourth challenge and have built a Phoenix. I tried two other elementals before it but was unhappy with them since elemental is not necessarily evil and I didn't want to cross that line into demonic looking. Here is his head only, in the first days before I articulated it some more and then curved out his chest. Now I'm working upon the micro scale element. Wow, how challenging. Its been really fun, but its not something I normally build and I have a picture in my head that I want to create. -

Edit: I meant that there was a lot of detail on your castle but not so much on the micro portion. Or so I thought so at first read! I saw the building at the top but I didnt see the path up to it. I fully understand the 48x48 limitation - urg never realised it would be so hard to build something in that seemingly big a space until this event. So the expounding part :P (which may be totally unnecessary now I see the path - though I would suggest changing the path to be light grey) maybe have white 1x1 tile or cheese on top of some of the grey further down? There wouldn't only be snow at the very very top. There would be smallers hills in front of the larger ones behind. If some inverted V shapes or hill tops could be delined with some white that might give a bit more depth. Or is there any fauna on the hills? Telescopes with an upside down three pronged flower stalk make mini pine trees (a la Siercon and Coral). PMed two pictures to illustrate. -

Its a great build! But my first thought was where is the microscale background? The picture above is the one that shows it best and I can see the depth in that shot But the one with all the poeple walking along the bottom of the rock made me think of a rocky wall and not a microscale mountain range. I wonder if the microscale could match the detail of the castle portion. I do like it! Just the castle is so good the rock is noticable to me. -
I like the castle and the icy border finished things perfectly.

I like it Gabe! He looks like a boulder that just stood up, though I'm not sure about the earth orange wing on his back from this angle. He doesn't look cutsey to me. -

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

I really like that they reused the manbat. I've very happy I will be able to get a few of them. Aside from a the monster figures I have no interest in the sets of the monster hunter themes at all. I guess its time to finish up buying my series 7 duplicates before they disappear from all the lego stores. -
The photoshopping is successful but I think the photography has too much flash/reflection on it that distracts from the details of the terrain and the shinyness is at odds with dull old paper background.

@Jacob Nion: I like your ferry boat, nice shape to the hull without using curves. I hope to see it in a MOC! And your winery is great, I love the little details there. @darkdragon : Thank you for taking all our sigfigs to Brickworld. The throne rooms look awesome! @Blaze: I like that Earth Elemental. The bionicle shield on his arm looks great and it really makes me want to see the MOC its in @Ecclesiastes: Ondylion looks great all linked together in one MOC. Thats very impressive display. -
I love the dark brown tower top. Its such a lovely detail and alternative to solid stone towers. I can see it becoming a staple for many MOCs to come.

Great build! And I love that tree, its perfect for the sandy building.

@soccerkid6: I like that you can see that eye from the front or side and it adds a splash of colour. @Ecclesiastes: how do you build on the go? Do you take all your supplies with you? (I want to see if you do!) -

I agree things on the current headlight bricks stick out too far. And I decided not to cut a net. I had qualms of conscience! -

I like that he curves. I am wondering how his eyes would look in pale grey or trans light blue so they match the walls or stand out. Or maybe pale grey behind the round 1x1 plate that has the hole in the middle in white - used in the sheep game. I also love trying to see what is in peoples small sorted lego box, and wonder what the cauldron is for . I often wonder what your building areas/desks/rooms look like -

Happy to chat about WIPs. Sharing the process for me is half the fun of building. There is a bridge in the foreground of my MOC (at least at the moment, lol). Within the centre arch I wanted a broken grille, hence the thought of cutting up a net that fits that space and using hairspray to keep the individual strands curving out and back. I was definitely hoping for a grid grille rather than bars. I could use antenna and have the vertical ones one row back from the horizontal but I didnt like the rigidity. Or have longer antenna and use elastic bands as the cross bars. My other thoughts are the flexible hoses, tube part only, probably without their ends on them. I like the slight curve and irregularity you get with a bendable piece. Or the soft axle hose look promising. I already have spare nets, the tubes are not that plentiful, axles are possible. Or I could scrap the grille entirely . While I always have this big picture in my head, when it comes down to individual pieces to execute that, they often get revised or removed as I see how they work next to other pieces of the MOC. -
That is the same as Legoland California. I was shocked when I picked out an amount of small pieces (mostly 1x1 plates/tiles + some bricks), with a volume less than a small pick a brick cup and it cost me $27. I almost had a heart attack.
-
Woohoo! Good luck. I hope they are the store-just-took-down-display-model good sort ones Any particular bricks you are hoping for or looking for at this time?

What are the rules on cutting parts for this challenge? I'm pondering over cutting up a net. Thank you. -
You create such lovely MOCs but I think the transition between snow and river really stands out to me here as the bit that adds realism and draws me in.

I love the interiors, the tension shelves in the butcher , and I'm always biased towards hills! Really nice MOC all round.

Recently I bought a few of the bride torso from the wedding cake topper set plus some plaited brown hair like the fantasy era queen used to wear. I did like the BAM section more before it became nearly totally CMF people, and CMF ones I would not have wanted to buy at that! (Where were our zombies and series 1 robots???) Cheerleaders were nice but without pom poms its rather redundant. Its a shame the accessories do not vary.

The little island is just like I imagined. This fits so well and is so iconic, I would think Lego would have to use this for a Hobbit set. Now what I would love to see is Smaug! Nice MOC

Gorgeous!!! I love the tails done in the technique that you've used for flowers in the past. All that pink, wow, really eye-catching.
