  1. Ended up having mine above a radiator but need a slightly opened window - so the temperature fluctuated a bit for a day. I think it worked in loosening it. Was still tight, but managed to move the head and seemed to have less resistance than previous attempts. I can just about fit both on my desk to display, though you may be best keeping them segmented Implying potential violence against animals is more iffy for Lego to include. Remember the 'Everything is not awesome' video by Greenpeace? While they could easily include an axe in the set and imply it's for chopping pumpkins, including an executioner and implying he is going to cut off the head of a bird/horse-like creature might not sit well with people nowadays. I dont think the figure is that worthwhile regardless, would turn out similar to above. Instead might be better to have him as a 'Death Eater' in a set for the fourth, fifth or seventh film. The character also played little role in the third film, just sort of being there to look creepy and remind the characters that he was going to kill Buckbeak. He did not have much interaction directly with the main cast - so he would not really add too much to playability or story options. Could work as a seperate figure in a CMF line though - e.g Black legs, dual molded arms, hood and a dual molded face (one side normal, the other with a Death Eater mask) with his wand and an axe
  2. Same here with three or four of the figures i have so far. Unsure what to try to move them without damaging them. I've had the same thing in the past with newer sets.
  3. I'm still in the process of building the Hogwarts caslte, and other than very minor aspects of structual segments i am moddifying (more-so out of my own concerns) I have yet to experience an issue with the design in regards to the exterior. The interior i think does need some small mods from what i've improved so far, such as the back of the Chamber of Secrets being exposed to the interior of the cavernous space beneath. I have planned a lot of mods for the set, but the exterior is beautiful especially the stained glass element. The price of the set is amazing compared to the piece count, the design of the exterior is fantastic and it's one of the only Lego sets i have brought for the build itself rather than the figures or microscale figures. The Microscale Hogwarts Castle is primarily based on the first two/three years of the castle. The castle itself has two couryards and the design of the courtyards changes quite a bit - including the addition of statues, windows and the connecting bridge moves also. Personally i am not a fan of the Betrayal at Cloud City. It fails as a playset due to lack of things to engage with and it fails as a detailed set because the detail is randomly splurged out over the set. I feel it would have worked better as vignettes and the attempts at detail are pointless when it's primarily a playset. Many others hate the Betrayal At Cloud City also, especially when most the Star Wars community was hoping for a more detailed set - it's over-priced also for what it is. In regards to wanting detailed portions of Hogwarts in minifigure scale, why not simply buy Hogwarts Great Hall and Hogwarts Whomping Willow and combine for a slightly more minifigure scale set. They have already teased the idea of a minifigure scale Chamber Of Secrets along with other minifigure scale aspects in future.
  4. As far as i can tell, Lego are lying to make the set sound better than it is. In this case they are advertising a printed head as 'an accessory', given we see Lobot with his Cybernetic Band printed on his head.
  5. *Old set for comparison Pros; Inclusion of the Freezing Chamber, Dining Room, Torture Room and The Battle with Vader all make sense to be included and are all improvements over what was included in '10123 - Cloud City' in regards to colour scheme, design and display along with prior versions we have gotten in sets. Vehicle designs are well done, very smooth and the Slave One is an improvement over other variations we have had in the past Inclusion of a large amount of figures Cons; Allocation of parts and pieces is disasterous with aspects that are not needed getting more pieces and development than aspects any fan would want to recieve focus on Slave One should have been a seperate set, the inclusion of a massive segment devoted to a landing pad is unnecessary and adds to the price, it makes no sense for it to be included here rather than as a seperate set Some of the rooms feel like a 'first draft' as they are incredibly empty and lacking. Colours clash terribly with no sense that they all belong to the same location, no real sense of connectivity between the segments. Addition of the roof segmented is not only innacurate in regards to scale, but very price consuming for something that is utterly useless - in regards to structual integrity, display and playability Price is awful. Especially considering the lack of strength Star Wars has had as a brand in recent years coupled with comparisons (Hogwarts Castle is similarily priced for 6020 pieces) while some may bring up the figure difference, they are primarily not new figures and many lack printing 3000+ pieces should not equate to the cost of 14 extra figures. Overall; The idea of it being entirely playset focused in the current age was a bad decision. Unlike the Death Star, this is not impressive to look at nor does it feature enough of a display aspect to warrant keeping these rooms connected if brought. The iconic aspects of Cloud City are featured with varying levels of focus and detailing. The previous Cloud City was released at a time where the primary audience was younger however the main interest for cloud city nowadays comes adult fans or older fans. Those are also the primary audience capable of actually purchasing this set, especially given the state of Star Wars currently in regards to it's decreasing popularity. The set has a lack of focus with some rooms getting more focus than others - the main aspects being focused on being the vehicles, roof display, sensor room, freezing room and torture room. While some of the designs are interesting, they do not work well together and should have almost certainly been seperated into vignettes or potentially seperate sets in regards to Slave One. This is not a set i am interested in getting, as it fails as a playset by having the focus put on aspects that the playabiltiy would be limited or non-existent on and failing as a display piece given most the rooms look and feel empty and have colours and designs clashing. Even though i was unfamiliar with the character, it provides something a little extra and generally build on the idea of Cloud City being a 'city' rather than just a place all the iconic characters are hanging out. I would have preffered to have a different character instead of just variations of characters i already have, such as another Han and Leia in Hoth Outfits. It would also be another dark skinned character, this time with a moustache - which could result in a new facial print or a re-use of the facial print used in the Ghostbusters and Jurassic World sets - either way, a facial print that many want to have. Couple this with the idea of the figure being exclusive to the Cloud City set, adding extra appeal to justify the pricing.
  6. Speed Build;
  7. Called it? :P Well, this is a Harry Potter discussion topic so Chances are discussion was stopped because people have been wanting a Cloud City set for ages but until something comes up it just falls into the line of a wishlist.
  8. For me the issues with the stickers, other than the abundance, is that they do not have a consistent style nor scale along with portraying a much more 'cartoon' appearance. The detail level also varies and some aspects seem like an odd choice to be a sticker instead of printing.
  9. I see your points, here are some potential counter points; 1. By including key aspects from the later films and some missing aspects then it could have some individual appeal. Most notably the Astronomy Tower given a large amount of focus in the sixth film, a room for 'Fluffy' or the 'Troll' from the first movie, the owlery, quidditch pitch, etc... I think it could sell on it's own. 2. While admittedly it would be a 'part 2' i feel the lower price to piece ratio would help convince fans to purchase them, plus the value of the set will only increase around the time of the later Fantastic Beasts films which are intended to focus a little more on Dumbledore, Hogwarts and Grindlewald. 3. I expect they will do something similar to the Death Star, where the Hogwarts Castle set is retired and re-released with a small amount of changes. 4. I think they've used that descriptor in the past for other sets only to update them later on Just feel this set has potential for later expansion and i would not be too surprised if they have plans for it 5. Feel this could be solved via having a joint or having a clip system similar to how the current castle can seperate into two segments. Alternatively they could ignore the section behind and just extended the set on the site Will definitely be trying a mod - will keep people updated :P
  10. I really badly want this designer to work on a second half for the Hogwarts set. The exterior of the set is spectacular and cannot fault the design. As you can see by the images below, we have a lot of potential for a second set to be made featuring aspects such as the Owlery, Greenhouses, Quidditch training grounds - along with rooms such as where Fluffy was guarding the trapdoor, where the Troll entered Hogwarts, the Slitherin Common Room from the second movie, etc... I will definitely be working on an LDD expansion and potentially an IRL modification. A D2C system scale Diagon Alley would be great. Ideally an updated version of '10217 Diagon Alley' which originally had 2025 pieces. Double the piece count and having three buildings similar to '10255 Assembly Square' which had 4002 pieces. Include the the option to seperate them and re-organise them and fans would easily buy it. Picture '10255 Assembly Square' but with Ollivanders on the left, Gringotts in the middle and Weasley Wizard Wheezes on the right :) It's not a set that desperately needs an expansion - but with that said, it has the potential to. They left out certain elements which most fans find iconic such as 'Troll in the Girls Bathroom/Dungeon', 'Fluffy guarding the Trap Door', Slitherin Common Room and the Greenhouses - all elements primarily featured in the first two movies - let alone additional aspects such as the Astronomy Tower or a microscale Hogwarts Station & Hogwarts Express. All these aspects make sense not to be included at the moment, but all would entice people to buy a second set should one end up being made. The Fantastic Beasts films also are going to be around for five films, the third of which is in 2020. In theory they could make the fourth and fifth films back-to-back and release in 2022 and 2023. In essence they could release a second segment to the Hogwarts castle in 2022 and it would still be relevant.
  11. "In Progress" is when they are checking your order and things - during this time you should recieve your receipt. When it reaches "In Warehouse" stage it has acknowledged that the item is actually physically available at the current time and they are organizing it into a batch to be shipped to a nearby location. Then when it is in a reasonable distance at a local warehouse for instance, it will change to "Shipped". Would not worry about it, pretty sure the intitial remarks about a 'Back Order/Pre-order' was just a derp on the part of the Lego website. Chances are they have a lot of these stocked considering the popularity. They also have additional stock arriving just before the general release also.
  12. Probably going to try modding the set a bit - i'd like to extend it if possible, but feel that would cost too much. Feel it needs layers. Did not recongise him.
  13. Something like the following perhaps? 'Battle For Hogwarts Castle' Would include figures for Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Lord Voldemort, with a buildable display stand New Microfigures would include Neville Longbottom, Professor Sprout, Sirius Black, "Mad-Eye" Moody and a variant for Dumbledore Instead of Dementors would include microfigure 'Death Eaters' renamed as 'Followers of Voldemort' Would feature a Buckbeak figure which could be ridden by a Microfigure Includes Astronomy Tower, Quidditch training grounds, Greenhouse, Courtyard and Quidditch Pitch Rooms included are Slytherin Common Room (Located underneath), Ravenclaw Common Room (Situated in a tower) and Hufflepuff Common Room (Built under the Greenhouse) Owlery would be included in a similar way to Hagrids hut, as a non-enterable structure Certain aspects of the design would be altered and certain rooms would appear where they would'nt normally be - given that others were included in the other set. The main focus would be to provide a sense of completition in regards to what was included in the other set while presenting the idea that you could have more fun if you collected both sets. Figures would be designed to complement the other set while the set would also stand on its own to an extent with the focus being on the 'Final Battle' from the movies - though no damage to the castle would be visible.
  14. Quantum Realm vehicle is interesting, as others have mentioned unsure why they did not repurpose the 'gyroscope' element for this set - will be interesting to see someone modify this set with that. Build kinds of makes me want a Rock Raiders 'Rapid Rider' revamp - which i expect is what i'll do with the build (removing the window elements from the front and repurposing the 'landing gear' on the side to make it look more industrial. Ant-Man has some updates, but is not a figure i'll be rushing after as we'll likely see this figure re-used for Infinity War's sequel Wasp kind of sucks, the helmet contrasts terribly with the style of Ant-Man, needed leg print Ghost looks 'ok' - lack of leg printing is frustrating but the double-sided head (or replacement head) is welcomed Overall, build looks good while the figures are underwhelming. I expect the next set would include Janet Van Dyne's Wasp, Goliath and probably Ant-Man again. I still expect we'll get an additional set based on Infinity War - the additional Civil War set was revealed around the middle of May and released in August so given the Ant-Man sets are being released on June 1st we still have time for a potential additional set based around Infinity War, if one exists, to be revealed.
  15. Yeah, the gold colour is accurate - it's mostly the base colour of the arm that looks like it should be a darker shade to me along with most the body.
  16. It's primarily the eyes - similar to Cull Obsidian the Lego style of eyes does not suite him. Unsure if any hair would fit the character well given how short it is. Probably some sort of holding module for the Gauntlet
  17. I like the new War Machine, arm print is definitely a welcomed addition and perhaps would work on the Civil War version Bucky looks alright, but everything seems a shade lighter than it should be and his arm should be gunmetal grey Judging via this our missing set would feature; Wong, War Machine, Winter Soldier and maybe Nebula (She seems similar to the GotG2 version, but perhaps without battle damage) The figure is based on this version of Wong from set pictures - fairly accurate in terms of outfit
  18. Lego are not in a financially tougher position than a few years ago at all - profit is on-top of what they need to sustain themselves as a business. Lego has excess stock at warehouses so why have 1400 staff hired that you do not need? Especially when the majority of the business stock is primarily starting to be sold online.
  19. Was a derp on my part, meant Avengers 4. This is the opposite of a fact, it is completely unsupported.
  20. Wasp seems to be based on the concept art, so perhaps we'll be lucky and they'll re-do her helmet for Infinity War. Having it all printed on the Iron Man helmet is unfortunate. The same thickness, but the amount of plastic used must be different or the plastic is mixed with something. I've seen knock-off versions of the same pieces that are affected in Lego's version that do not have the translucency issue or have the issue to varying extents. If a knock-off company can make the same pieces non-translucent - then i dont see why a more expensive Lego version has issues with those pieces. In the same sense if the consistency of the plastic was the same throughout then we wouldn't have the varying levels of translucency on areas that are the same thickness. It's mostly an issue of display as light cannot be above, below or to the side of the set without seeing through the wings.
  21. It is translucent... You shouldn't be able to hold up Lego and see through it because Lego is made in a way that normally results in solid plastic piece, even air bubbles are meant to be removed as part of Lego's quality control. As demonstrated in the image i posted, the bright orange they have decided to skimp on the quality, reducing the amount of plastic. This weakens the quality of the piece meaning it will break quicker and enabling it to bend easily. It's a technique used by some Lego knock-off's in order to manufacture pieces for cheaper when quality is not the focus - Lego using the technique themselves is a sign that quality was not the focus with that set. Lego has had several price hikes in the UK
  22. I dont feel like these sets are going 'all out'. Lego seems to have dropped the quality for the Guardians ship. This is something i would expect to see from a cheap knock-off, not Lego.
  23. I'll grant you that the Tron Legacy set includes some larger pieces than the Women of NASA ('WoN') set - though the 'WoN' set had three main builds including a rocket and all has a thicker base. I cannot really compare the two, as i do not own the Tron Legacy set - but i'd be interested to see a comparison when people inevitably end up getting the set. It looks like the bike may be roughly the same size as the rocket in the 'WoN' set. The original bike was static and received 10,000 supporters for that design and the base plate is intended for static display also. I doubt people as such expected wheel movement, and while it has it's benefits that i do understand, it's not something that particularly motivates me to go and get the set anymore than if the wheels were static. I'd still end up displaying or depicting the vehicles racing regardless of if the wheels are static or not. If how recognizable something is, is subjective - then your point about the official model being recognizable is also subjective. I can use the same criteria and it applies to almost every Tron Cycle MOC. This is probably a Tron Legacy Cycle at its most core level. You need very little to make a set recognizable other than specific aspects of it's design.
  24. Getting incredibly specific here. If you want to compare specific features, then take a look at Women Of Nasa with four figures, tons of unique figure printing and unique printed pieces, some dual molded legs, 231 pieces and priced at $10/£10/€10 cheaper than the Tron set. To me, the Tron Cycle should not have been priced more than that set. Its that $10/£10/€10 addition that people are having trouble justifying. If you like the set that is fine, i'm not trying to change your viewpoints merely explaining my own - to me the set disappoints in regards to the bikes, but excels in regards to the printing of Flynn and Qoura - Rinzler could have used his arm print though and the printed mask is not accurate (They printed the reflection of the mask onto the mask and it looks weird) Adding stuff to the upper sides does not fix the bottom of the build - the bottom is flat. This is clearly not a limitation of the building system given it has been tackled by a variety of fan versions including the originally submitted Ideas version. Here are some examples; 2011 Tron Cycle MOC, 2015 Ideas Tron Cycle, 2016 Tron Cycle Chase, 2017 Tron Legacy Light Cycle and more... My comment is not remotely unwarranted or harsh and is echo'd on a majority of Lego sites - if they make a product that people do not like then people are going to criticize it. Tron fans realized shortly after the movie that the exterior wheels along with the rest of the body are a shell - they do not move. Lego has either ignored this or thought that the set needed moving wheels and decided to have the exterior shell move - in a similar sense they either attempted something with the flat main segment and gave up or they did not attempt something with the flat main segment - either way, they left the flat main segment. The model is recognizable due to the layout of the bike and the colour scheme - the core idea is still there regardless of the execution. This is recognizably a Tron Light Cycle also - it does not change the fact that the build for the official set is lacking. I've seen people dismiss the bikes, which should be the main reason to buy the set, in favor of the figures.
