Stage One: Fermentation - Ayrlego Stage Two: Drying - Puvel Stage Three: Roasting - SilentWolf Stage Four: Grinding and Pressing - Bregir There is much going on in King's Harbour these days. First it opens its majestic new garden, then the department of time began ringing its perfect bells. Now a cocoa factory is starting up. Today, the Colonial Governor Jonathan Cooke is receiving a tour of the third phase of the factory where all the roasting of the cocoa beans takes place. He is just now meeting the foreman, a Mr. Edward Roberts. "Glad to meet you Captain Cooke! I was looking forward to your visit. This building's sole purpose is to roast the cocoa beans that have already been fermented and dried. I dare say this factory will propel our export of cocoa to great heights and make Cocovia the envy of all the brickworld." "Here you see a wagon that is just recently loaded with roasted beans. It is on its way over to the grinding and pressing plant that I heard you have already toured. This driver is one of the spryest old men you have ever seen. He gets his wagon loaded and unloaded faster than any of our other drivers." "When you came over the bridge, you may have noticed the barge that is delivering a supply of wood for the furnaces. We receive deliveries several times a week just so we can keep our ovens running. A family business is what I hear and they deliver anywhere there barge can reach. I believe in the future we will even ship our beans between factories using the canal." Cooke replied, "I did indeed see the barge. That is a large quantity of wood that is being delivered. Is it all for the factory?" Roberts answered, "Yes, that is indeed all for our operations. This week we should need only one more delivery toward the end of the week, but we are having a slower week with a couple of the ovens . Would you care to come inside and see the process? Our first batch of the day should be coming out of the oven soon." "The stone ovens have the fire in a separate compartment beneath the roasting area. The two compartments are accessed via different doors which allows us to add wood or remove the beans without affecting the heating process. We can thus maintain the proper temperatures between batches of roasted beans lowering the downtime. Cocoa roasting unlike coffee roasting is at a low temperature and maintaining the temperature is key." "The beans are taken out of the barrels that they arrived in from the drying division, and placed on trays preferably in a single layer. They are then placed in a properly heated oven until they are almost done." "They are then removed from the oven and set out to cool during which time they finish roasting as the trays cool. At this time, they have acquired there unique cocoa flavor and aroma that we have come to love. They are then placed in barrels and loaded on wagons like the one you saw to send to the grinding and pressing division" "You may notice that it is warm in here. In order to keep it tolerable for the employees, we built in special vents above the ovens that we can raise and lower with a bar. This enables some of the heat to escape without allowing a strong draft which would cool the ovens and ruin the roast." "You can see the barrels of dried beans waiting to be roasted. We shall complete all of those today which in reality is a slow day. We like to roast all the beans delivered yesterday which enables us to know exactly how much work is going to be needed tomorrow. We also have to keep a supply of empty crates and barrels so that we do not run out. Efficiency is key to a successful business such as this." "My office is up above the door which enables me to oversee the whole process even when I have paperwork to do. It also enables me to get a quick overview of our inventory at any time that I need it. The only downside is it can get hot up there, but that doesn't matter excessively as my work also involves being on the floor checking temperatures and end products." "We take pride in taking care of our employees. We have a nice area set aside for them to enjoy a cooler break or mealtime. Though they have to rotate when the breaks occur as the process must be kept moving. It is the most efficient way. I hope you enjoyed your tour, Captain Cooke, and I am sure you will find the other divisions equally as satisfying and efficient. Feel free to walk around the place before you leave." Edit: The footprint of this build is 58x58 with a little overhang from the shutters. Credit goes to Bregir for the idea of the brick pillars on the façade of the building.

I like the way this minifigure comes together! I look forward to seeing him out and about in the brick seas. @Bregir Micah of Wolfhaven is a merchant by trade, specializing in everything related to horses. He created a trade company with four of his friends named Wolf's Equine, Trading, and Expedition Company or WETEC for short. They have founded a colony, Elizabethville, in her Majesty's name on Lacryma, as the land is exceptional for raising and breeding horses, as well as training cavalry for her Majesty's service. He and his recently married wife are overseeing the progress on Lacryma, as well as exploring the fauna of the new islands. His partners are overseeing the other aspects of the WETEC.- 897 replies

New Ship Classes - The Transition
SilentWolf replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Someone can correct me if I am wrong but class 1 could have up to 9 stats in cargo, class 2 can have up to 12 and classes 3-8 can all have a maximum of 15 points. -
Great building Gedren! I do like how you created the burnt area. Also nice usage of the robin hood hat. I hadn't thought of turning it around before.

For Time the Bells Doth Toll...
SilentWolf replied to Captain Dee's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a masterful bell tower. Very exquisite in looks and am impressed that you were able to make it stable. You pointed them out, but nice usage of ship hulls. I also like the inverted pieces for the water fountains. This is a great addition to King's Harbor and definitely pushes forth Corrington's superiority in science and order. I guess I need to add a Department of Time to Elizabethville. I don't own any minidolls so I hadn't realized the size difference between the two. A full brick seems like a huge leap. Though I would probably have just given up trying to match them so great job on sticking with it.- 21 replies

Definitely you can use whatever you need, and you can feel free to change it however is needed. @gedren_y, I believe we referenced her in the challenge 5E builds as to the source of our knowledge of the lost city and our long lost explorer, Dr. Brickinson. We are indeed grateful. Though I am not sure that in her hasty retreat, she left her name so that we could properly reward her. Feel free to correct me if I err in this.- 897 replies

[COR - CH5E] Hidden Beneath the Falls
SilentWolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you Bregir. The shadow below the waterfall was one of my favorite intentional additions as I have often seen them beneath smaller waterfalls where the water is deeper right at the base. LOL. That is indeed where, though as I said earlier the idea didn't start with me. It is hard to keep up with all the posts. I often see them but either don't have time either to examine it fully or comment then forget to come back. -
[COR - ChVE - Part 3] Dr. Brickingstone, I presume
SilentWolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I really like the completed build! The pond between the two temples works really well and creates the sense of ancient design. I like the tree design and the two pillars at the end of the pathway. Nice usage of bending it to create a sense of crumbling but still standing. Those lion heads on the end building, where do they come from? I picked one up in a bulk set in tan but hadn't seen it before then. -

Well since all the non-Corrington people have had a chance to give their perspectives, I shall give my overview. In Era I, Corrington quickly mastered the seas and perfected her methods of managing trade routes. The convoys brought in exceptional profits to all who participated with Corrington . Corrington also swept pirates from before her. With minimal losses, her convoys and escorts captured pirate ships at such an extraordinary rate that the shipyards are still attempting to repair all the ships. In addition, there were so many ships in drydock, that the queen offered free right of first capture to those who helped the Crown build ships. The explorers of the empire fanned out across the newly discovered areas in search of land and scientific discoveries. They traveled more extensively then all the other empires, and added massive numbers of new islands to the empire. Corrington claimed more islands than any other nation in both the Sea of Thieves and the Prio Seas. The government of Corrington was stable throughout the first era which is more than can be said of all the other nations in the region. There were periods of slowness in government decisions being made, but that I am sure was due to the fact that the empire was expanding faster than the information could be kept current. The expansion also prevented the scientists and cartographers from keeping up with the new discoveries which left some confusion for new settlers attempting to join the new colonies to the east. This slowed down the growth of the towns, which proved detrimental as shipping slowed down in the second half of Era I. However, due to the great profits of the first half of the Era, Corrington's citizens invested deeply in properties and business ventures in other nations and the slowed income from the lack of MRCA's was not detrimental to the citizens who stayed active. In short, Corrington outpaced all her neighbors on the seas and in discoveries. Her shipyards are still humming away furthering her power on the seas, and it will take another entire era before another nation could surpass the landmass acquired by Corrington in the first era.- 897 replies

[COR - ChVE - Part 1 and 2] Mysteries on Cascadia
SilentWolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I really like how you did your falls and the cutaway of the river bed is also a great touch. Though a fish swimming out right there would have been a fun addition. That bonfire and the use of the light brick is amazing! The nighttime shot in particular was fascinating. Of course having the daytime shot helped build the scene. I also like the brickbuilt tent. I look forward to the third build when you get it completed. -

You always do an excellent job at jungle and river scenes. I need to study your builds a little more to try and improve. That pyramid turned out really well. The mixture of colors is excellent and the height seems just right. Also nice job on the minifigure posing!- 15 replies

[COR - CH5E] Hidden Beneath the Falls
SilentWolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I was going to stop two layers of rockwork earlier but decided it needed more height thus it ended up as it is which seems pretty good for the minifigure scale. The river is basically blue plates with the transparent tiles placed on top. I did angle the sections to create the rapids type effect. To create the ripples I would place a white transparent plate and then a blue transparent tile on top. Of course I mixed in the studded plates to give it more of a ripple effect. It is buildable in real life which was my intention for this build (including that all the pieces exist in the colors chosen). It would need a little more internal support, but the top is held up with technic 1x16 bricks that are pinned together two wide and stretch from the rockwork to the back of the build with supporting bricks in the middle. Plates were then placed on top before adding the design. For the minifigures, I need to give some credit to the create indexes for LDD that are here on Eurobricks. I especially enjoy the custom torsos and pants that are available for a lot of the minifigure series. I can take that .lxf and use it to make much better figures. I did think the Shakespeare torso worked really well with the skirt combo. I was a little surprised on how nice it looked. Thank you! It was my first attempt at large amounts of rockwork. I think having LDD and the easy ability to delete helped me figure it out. -
[COR - CH5E] Hidden Beneath the Falls
SilentWolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes that is an owl above the falls. The angles slightly prevent view, but there is also a nest in the crags on the left side. Most of the minifigs were part of my party, with inclusion of a couple from each of Bregir (Montoya) and Ayrlego's (Colonel Allcock) partys. The native with the redcoat torso was a cast to Ayrlego's party and I believe they are Tenaxotilian warriors (but he would have to confirm that). Here is what my party looked like before joining the other expeditions. Thank you! Micah will have to look further into whose version of the story is correct, Mardiers or Eslandola. OR maybe the Order is attempting to get all three nations to fight so that they can increase their power and influence. Thank you! I was definitely trying to portray the mist and its effects and the multiple grays lent themselves to this concept. I definitely intend on doing more waterfalls in the future as it says Cascadia is full of them. The flowers were a necessity from the start. Every waterfall I have been to has flowers or random plants and trees growing out of the tiniest crevices where one would not expect anything to grow. I knew I had to incorporate that idea. Thank you for the compliment to the river. It kept growing and expanding as I built it, but I wanted it to be realistic. I just realized this morning that I never got back to placing rocks in the river. I will have to fix that with the future storyline. I appreciate the compliments to the story. It is one of my hardest aspects to each build. Thank you, Ayrlego. Though the caves and tunnels were a nightmare to render even with the different accessible views. I should have probably done them as a separate build so I could have gotten good lighting for the render. It was a really fun build to do! -
New Ship Classes - The Transition
SilentWolf replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I will just list my ships and present status at the moment. I will update later once I have figured out what they should be in the new system. List of Ships Owned: Flying Colt 2WR [I believe this should remain a class 2] Alexander 2F [This may qualify for a class 3] Pinto Filly (sistership of the immediately captured Golden Filly) 5F [Based on the examples this should move down to a 4?] Don Obello 5A [Feel it should still be a 5 ] Octavia 5LA (captured license - unmocced) [maintain at 5] Soupfish 4A (captured license - unmocced) [maintain at 4] Nightmare 2A (purchased license - unmocced) [maintain at 2] Edit: Am I supposed to be deciding stat points now as well?
