Welcome to Eurobricks, farmer bodo! I am looking forward to seeing your MOCs.

Welcome to Eurobricks, Kalais! I am looking forward to seeing your 80's and 90's Castle and Pirate builds. Those are some of my favorite themes from my childhood, so I love them as well.

Very nice, Tomsche! I like the snow on the rocks and the frozen path. The fig posing is excellent. The snot door is nice looking and fits well. The guild colors and microfig over the door are a nice touch. The only think I would like to see better is the picture quality. More lighting and clearer pictures would definitely improve the presentation of this nice build. It would be nice if you could build for all three categories, but I will be using Dwarves in almost every build, so I understand if you have only one dwarf. Brick on, Tomsche!

Welcome to Eurobricks, langezwieper! It is easy to get hooked. I also enjoy the 90's castle line. Check out Eurobricks' Guilds of Historica if you are still interested in Castle themes. I am looking forward to seeing what you build.

Thanks, robuko! I am glad you like it, even with the crowding and business of the banner. I agree that even the second attempt is crowded and busy, but I cannot think of a better way to do this (I am certainly open to suggestions). I want a banner that shows the defining features of each guild and cannot decide how to uncrowd the banner. If I were to eliminate a minifigure from each guild, which one would I eliminate? If I shrink the minifigures more, will too much detail be lost? Should I worry about hiding too much of the background, or is it enough to see that in the extended banner? Should I try to incorporate the forum name and slogan, or is it enough that people will know what site it is located on? Would more indicators specific to Guilds of Historica be good to incorporate, and, if so, how could I incorporate them. I appreciate input from anyone.

Hello, I'm new to Eurobricks and my name is Dinobrick

Welcome to Eurobricks, Dinobrick! I am looking forward to seeing what you build. I also like reptiles and currently have three bearded dragons. -
I agree with this. I keep all of my brick separators together to make sure I know where they are. Any time I am building a set or MOCing, I grab two from the supply and return them when I am done. I grab two because some situations are still tricky with only one (such as a 1x2 plate on a 1x2 plate). I always pair the separators and stick them together head-to-head with the tails pointing away from each other. I do have quite a few separators, but, as others stated, not every child will get every large set, so I think LEGO is not including them in too many sets.

Quatro is the line of LEGO that is even bigger and for younger children than Duplo. I do not know what decade the brick shown is from (I would guess 1980's) and I cannot seem to find information online about these bricks. Hopefully someone else will be able to bring light to the unanswered questions.

I have made updates to my banner (these are my two entries) that have smaller minifigures to alleviate the crowded feeling somewhat: GoH Banner Design
-
Thanks, Jakorin! I have added a second banner that has smaller minifigures to alleviate the crowded feeling. I also had room to incorporate the guild flags now, so I have done so. Let me know which populated banner has the better appearance. The backgrounds are identical.
-
They are the vintage LEGO predecessor to Quatro bricks. I had quite a few of these in red, white, and blue when I was young.

That explanation works fine for me . It just made me curious...

Nice build, legoman19892! This looks very Kaliphlinesque. The pink and lavendar add nice accent and coloring to the walls. I am curious where all of the pink clay(?) comes from in Kaliphlin . The stained-glass windows are very neat and look wonderful on this house. I also like the door. Were you intending to use the light bley 1x1 tiles, or did you not have a rown 1x2 tile? Brick on, legoman19892!

@kabel: From what I have heard, I can believe it! Will you be sharing any photos of your trip to show Iceland to us for our inspiration as well? -
Best Bulbs for a Primitive Photography Setup?
Slegengr replied to The Kumquat Alchemist's topic in General LEGO Discussion
From my experience, this is correct that it will be much simpler to adjust the camera white balance rather than trying to do the same with software after the picture is taken. Even simple digital cameras usually have some form of white balance. If you can adjust white balance, this would likely be the simplest solution. I have found that florescent or daylight bulbs work better than incandescent bulbs, but I have had troubles finding higher-Watt florescent bulbs. They are dimmer than incandescent bulbs, so I have to use more than 2 light fixtures (which is not bad, as more light fixtures from different angles help to eliminate shadows) for my lighting and have still not perfected my photo lighting. The white balance on my camera has been the number one adjustment that helps with picture quality. -
Farmer Maggot's Work Horse - AoM: Mill Phase I
Slegengr replied to Slegengr's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks, Carson! I am glad you like it. Thanks, mrcp6d! I certainly appreciate that you consider this like Gunman's builds. His builds certainly have been an inspiration to me, and I only hope to attain his level of buiding someday. For the scythe, I have tried multiple times over the years to make one I was satisfied with. This is the first one I have seen that does not have an overly large blade or other disproportions or odd angles. I am glad you like it as well. -

Book 2 Challenge 3: Category A: Old Faces
Slegengr replied to mccoyed's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice build, mccoyed! I also like the tilt of the head, the olive green moss, and the normal green grass. The aged and crumbling look to the statue is nicely done. -
Bran’s Tale - chapter 1 [you decide his fate]
Slegengr replied to narbilu's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is an interesting story concept, Narbilu! My vote is for 2A. Shelter would be useful if Bran is in the harsher environments of Nocturnus. I think a burrowing creature would be interesting, as we tend to see flying creatures regularly. A burrowing creature, IMO, would be slightly more difficult and give a more satisfying result. -
Nice build, Alfadas! The crops look nice. I like the fence and the cow pasture as well. The posing is nice. The farmhouse certainly fits this build well. Nice agrarian feel to the build! Brick on, Alfadas!

AoM - Gatehouse Phase lll - And yet another orcish encounter
Slegengr replied to Alfadas's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice build, Alfadas! I like the incorporation of the arrow slit alongside the doors for guarding where the wall-top guards could not. The combination of stone and wood works well for appearance of a Mitgardian build. I agree that the profile "brick" bricks would look better and some crenellations atop the wall would improve the protection appearance of the wall. Brick on, Alfadas! -
Thanks, MKJ! I appreciate the feedback. My original intent was to incorporate the three minifigures per guild to give a better representation. I made them large so they would not disappear at such a small scale, but the original size of 100x900 pixels should allow for me to downsize the minifigures a little bit to alleviate the crowdedness while still showing details. Thanks, Lord Vladivus! I will downsize the minifigures and see what I think. I agree that it seems crowded, but that is also somewhat what I wanted and needed in order to represent the guilds with detailed minifigures. I did not like how much the background was covered by the figures, but I could not find a fit I liked better. I will give it another try and see what I can do. Thanks, Kai! I wanted the minifigures to be shown large enough to show detail, so the banner ended up crowded. I may shrink the minifigures a bit, now that I see that details still show at original size. I do not know how to avoid the search box, so I will just hope it does not cover too much. I will look at this again and see if I can come up with a better fit. Thanks, Captain Braunsfeld! I enjoyed building backgrounds that I though were good representations of the defining features of each guild. I am glad you like them as well.

Nice stable, Tomsche! I like what you have done with limited parts. The snow is nice, though it looks a little too square. Do you have any white wedge plates that could be incorporated? The wood and stone walls are nice and fitting for Mitgardia. The water trough is a nice little touch to add to the overall stable concept. Brick on, Tomsche!

This is great! Good work, both of you! I love floating fantastic worlds, and this one is amazing! I love all the details like the use of Bionicle masks and the splashing of different colors everywhere. The purple towers are nice. Great floating air-ships as well! Brick on, Tyler and Nannan!
