AoM: Farm Phase I - Farmer Segir's Crops -
Farmer Segir and his daughter Triafra check on the progress of their crops. Knowing summer is nearly over, Segir prepares to harvest his crops to store up for the winter. His small farm plot had very stony soil that had to be prepared. First, he cleared rocks from the plot and built a small retaining wall with the rocks and stones. After applying manure from his neighbor's cows and horses, the ground was prepared for growing a variety of crops. His prize mushrooms bring a nice price at the market in Falkidalr. Segir checks on his crops regularly because neighbor Farmer Maggot has reported that certain small fellows in the area are particularly fond of pilfered crops, especially mushrooms . Crops include: Corn Mushrooms Tomatoes Butternut Squash Cauliflower Leeks Constructive criticism is much appreciated. Thanks, Stian

Welcome to Eurobricks and Guilds of Historica, Grinsebar! Bricklink is the best source for sand green flags. When you have become a vassal here a Eurobricks after making 10 posts, pm me about this and I might be able to help you out. -
I have seen that in other fp builds. I will have to give this a try, as it makes a lot of sense. I think I will try to incorporate a foreground, middle ground merger, and background with hills and mountains fading to sky.

Welcome to Eurobricks, The Informer! I am looking forward to your contributions to the community.

Thanks, Gideon! I agree that a lower angle with the background less in-focus would be better for the forced perspective. The main issue I had with this build was that the lower angle and different focus caused the horses and minifigs to cover too much of the background. I will try to build a slightly larger background on my next attempt at forced perspective so I can lower the angle and focus on the front-most objects while still showing the background. C&C is much appreciated. I need tips and criticism to improve my building style.

Thanks, Gideon! I personally love the dark green and olive green foliage pieces. Each time I look at these images, I notice one more detail that I missed. I had not sorted very many sets yet when I did this build, so I was short on dbg wedge plates, but, had I noticed that corner, I would have found a plate to smooth the edges. I especially appreciate the constructive criticism from you, a MOC expert.

Excellent MOC, Derfel! The blue in the walls, along with the white and tan, make them very interesting. I love the black roof in contrast to the other colors used. The nets in the roof are excellent for showing a thatched framework. I wonder what is in the swampy water to make it purple? Brick on, Derfel!
-
Excellent MOC, Derfel! That woodwork around the tower top is excellent, especially the round portions encircling each section. The roof is very appealing. I like the color choices for this MOC. I am curious what you used to make the winding vines over the droid-arm vines. Keep the MOCs coming, Derfel!
-
Wow! Such a detailed build as usual, Derfel Cadarn! It definitely fits the style of your other builds. I particularly like the tower coming from the roof and the curves and angles incorporated throughout the building. I also find the randomly-tiled roof with the holes in it quite interesting. What did you use for the vines crawling throughout the MOC? They are not a LEGO piece I recognize... Keep the MOCs coming, Derfel!

I might be interested. Let me know in a pm what your ideas are. I have not planned my builds entirely yet, so this might be interesting to collaborate. -
Crowded Market Mayhem - HSS/AoM: Store Phase III
Slegengr replied to MKJoshA's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice build, MKJoshA! I particularly like market scenes, and this one is no exception to my interest. The market stands are neat and colorful. The details in the shop buildings are very nice. I like the cheese slope roof design utilized here. The shop interiors are nicely decorated. Nice action in the scene as well. Brick on, MKJ! -
This is a nice looking Ent, touthomme! I think the parts usage for the face is very nice. It gives a comical, yet very Entish, appearance and works well for a face. The smoothness of the transitions between angles is well done. The Ent's foliage phalanges are great details as well! Brick on!

I missed the mill raid, but the MMV is definitely one of my favorite official sets yet both for collecting and keeping together and for MOC parts. The Kingdoms joust is also my highly recommended set. It is an excellent build for TLG sets and has many nice pieces for MOCing. It is also still available at original prices, so I recommend grabbing it before it is discontinued. I also recommend Guilds of Historica when you get to MOCing, but, of course, Mitgardia would be the best choice for a guild .

Nice build! I like the rock arch over the path the best. I would recommend a bit more foliage to cover the top brown plates on the branches, though, and fill the trees out a bit more. Brick on, Tomsche!

MEC Category C: Riddles in the Dark
Slegengr replied to dagger_of_time's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice work, dagger_of_time! I also enjoy this portion of the story, and I think you built it well. I like the height of the rock-work and the effect of the water. Those bricks at the top that are not pushed down all the way are bugging me, though... . Brick on! -

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Slegengr replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
Ditto the above. I hope to have some builds posted by this weekend as well. I have been busy with two other larger LEGO projects at the moment (that are nearly done and should be revealed in the next couple of weeks) and have not had the time I hoped for to build for AoM, but I will be completing some builds, as the Phase I builds are smaller and I plan to complete all of the phases in order. -

Very cool build, BrickCurve! The quicksand is done very nicely with the cheese slopes. Nice action in the scene as well, though reality would have it that it is difficult to be killed by quicksand due to the buoyancy of a human body on the denser sand/water mixture. Of course, GoH can be more interesting at times if science is not followed exactly, so I hope I have not taken away from this build with this comment. I also particularly like the border under this build. The only critique I have on it would be that it seems a bit tall for the small, flat vignette on top of it. Brick on, BrickCurve!

Nice little build, mccoyed! The color choice (though much the same as kabel's potter's structure) is very nice and the style is very Kaliphlin-esque. The minifig posing and activity in this build make it seem pleasantly busy. Brick on, mccoyed!
