Best B-Models of Technic Sets?
Choops replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When i built the b model for 8043 I was impressed that they included the suspension system to allow the tracks to go over unweven surfaces. Just adds to the models functions. Steve -
Best B-Models of Technic Sets?
Choops replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The alternate for 8284 is better than the main model. Still cant figure out why lego did that. Steve -

Povray animation of a car
Choops replied to Choops's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Here is a render with a Lego model. Steve -
Hello My name is Steve and I have been rendering some animations in povray for a few years now. Here is my latest test animation. I can change the steering input and acceleration throughout the animation and make the car go where I want. Then make a gif out of it. I will try another one soon with a lego car instead. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5456233 Enjoy Take a look at my other animations here. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=40967

Nice to see instead of one piece walls. I wonder why they went this direction? Steve

I have both sets. I enjoy rebuilding the silver champion at least once a year. Takes a few hours and keeps you interested. The b model is cool and nethaniels car is great. There is a great mix of parts to try your hand at creating a chassis of your own. I also like the way the car mixes the studded beams and the stud less system. The only thing I wish it had more of is angled lift arms for creating bodywork. The suspension is much more interesting to build since it is made of separate parts instead of a few special pieces. That is my opinion. Steve

Extreme 8258
Choops replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Drive the shifter with a worm gear. This will allow you to stop the shifting more accurately. I hope that made sense. Good luck with the build. It is going to be a tight fit. Steve -

8458 Silver Champion
Choops replied to ybeline's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
One of my favorite sets I own.. I enjoy rebuilding this model at least once every winter.. The way the model uses studded and studless parts together is brilliant. I also like the fact that the suspension is made from parts and not just one special piece. the set does not use many angle pieces so making flowing bodywork requires some imagination which Nathanael has done very well. multi output gearbox
Choops replied to Choops's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
4 motors is correct. one for drive one for steering one to switch the gearbox one for powering the functions thru the gearbox. -
multi output gearbox
Choops replied to Choops's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
the trick will be to shift the gearbox with only one motor. -
I am in the planning stages of making my 8285 tow truck set fully remote controlled. Going to us an xl motor for driving and an m motor for steering. I would like to create a gear box which can direct the power from one m motor to the 4 different functions. this gearbox will be shifter by another m motor. This will make the truck fully functional with only two remotes. Any ideas on the gearbox would be appreciated. I will post a pic of my idea soon. Steve
