  1. I don't have too detailed ideas like you other guys/girls in this thread, also I barely know a bit about the batman universe (I am still surprised what kind of villains exist, never heard of the hammer girl anyway). BUT in my opinion lego is not doing it in the right way, it just doesn't adapt the feeling of what batman means to me. It should be more dark and less focused on vehicles (I know it's what kids want, but even Indy has great playsets). The vehicles are way too big, ridiculously big. It is just too much, an overflow of power and impression. The first penguin sub was perhaps one of the best vehicles lego came out with in the past 5 years, the newer one doesn't catch the feeling of mistery, darkness and well.. "legoism". Batman always meant something like "film noir" to me, like Sin City. Dark, ironic, comic-like and with a stark focus on the city itself. The first sets captured that feeling more than the later ones, also there is a lack of quality when you compare them to SW or Indy (due to the smaller turnover perhaps). Also the short movies of the first sets gave a darker and therefore better feel of Gotham City and the whole theme, an atmosphere that the trailers of the new videogame weren't able to provide. It would be nice to have smaller vehicles (not bikes and buggies but real vehicles in lego scale, like the Indy vehicles), darker atmosphere, city impressions (playsets) and better detail and quality. That's just my opinion or wish, easy to see that lego tries to change the line in a complete different direction, due to poor sales obviously.
  2. I thought about it too, but there is no possible exit for it, is there? The longer I look at the super deformed tie fighter, I want a super deformed X and Y, that would be too sweet. Not an 18-wide Tumbler for Batman but the opposite, that could be nice.. btw, the printed Stormtrooper came with Imperial Inspection, Cloud City "only" had the printed Boba. Well, I know there are critics and this set is not perfect, but Cafe Corner isn't as well and still rocks. This set could be nice in my collection, I just wished that Echo Base could have been just a slice of this... This is by far the best LSW playset and I would definetely like to have it. You can compare it to the Stardestroyer or the Sandcrawler (which work as bases) but not to UCS MF or ships in general. If you don't like bases, this is not your cake obviously. I will just wait for the 1st pictures of the new OT sets in 2009 and then make a decision. Zzz out (dreaming of super deformed death star)
  3. HOLY MOLY !! This looks... massive, and it includes so many details, like the interrogation droid and the dianoga! massive.... I hope the DS-wall-pieces are prints, since they use the same one over and over, the quality of the built is really amazing, lots of detail and lots of clever art. But 500
  4. Hey Voltio! YOU were the one buying it ! I was watching it on my ebay account but 1. it did look like A LOT of work and 2. in the past (early 90s) I made the decision for the Metroliner and against this - never regretted it (well, til the ML came out again ) - but that is life. I made the decision, I will stick with it. I can assure you that right now it looks terrible, but you will proceed and get more and more pieces together. In the end you have time, it is not like you have to finish it in 3 weeks or so. I just read the "6399" from your post and I opened it. It is THE magic number when it comes to town sets. You can be sure while restoring it that you are not on the top level of lego but this is ONE of the best sets ever. Good luck, don't give up! PS 10$ per piece is a lot, but just compare what a mint/ complete set costs. It is alright.
  5. wasn't there a giant bagclip in the movie? The one that Indy shoots at the jungle cutter? ... ... no?
  6. nothing for days after this last comment? Like everyone noticed suddenly: "oh yeah, he is right. look, you can build things different!" and is still building and adapting.. (no offense here, people!) I also try to make sets as real and perfect as they should be, so I am still changing things on my 4502 X-Wing, but it gets better and better! Sometimes I like it, sometimes it goes on my nerves, cause 90% of my bricks are far away, not in my flat. The cockpit of my AT-AT can fit 3 minifigs, which was the first thing I changed after building it 5 years ago. And if something is too perfect, like Race for the Stolen Treasure e.g. - it makes me a bit sad. Cause right now I can't see any point how to improve it, and how to !personalize! it. And that is whx I like and dislike Lego sometimes, and why it is my favorite hobby!
  7. oh, I do hate it to be Mr Know-it-all tonight , but I just saw the movie and they actually change the plane (during the red-line-scene). The cargo plane is way smaller than this plane which resembles a Douglas DC-3, common passenger plane from the 30s. (They are in this first and then change to the smaller cargo plane) Thanks a lot for the review, Blitz! Also I like this set I do try to concentrate on the old movies though... for space and financial issues. Difficult decision, cause this brings all the important minifigs from the new movie and is a nice model.. But anyway - I was excited to see tonight (in the movie) that they used a plane that just appeared in the travel scene for a set. Might be that there was an edited scene or something, but I have so so high hopes now for the Pan Am Clipper from Raiders (which had several int and ext shots) and the Ford plane from Temple! Come on, if they made this, they have to make them (ugh, clever sentence). High hopes ON
  8. Oh, I love the elephant picture! I just hope they make this scene in real and give the old elephants a new nose piece! (the old one was a bit strange and too long) I ordered the PSP version now but I guess I will also buy the PS2 version later, to have 2 player action! Can't wait for it!
  9. I am purist and was wondering.. (noticed Juno but didn't know the rest) I was searching on BL for these but they are so new that no one had them I guess. And I really didn't like the speedracer at all so I didn't take notice of the minifigs.. sorry! and thanks trooper!

    Indy Sets

I know this topic has been undiscussed for a while but I thought I will share some of my thoughts I had last night. IF we get a few new sets in 2009 for the old movies, I wondered what they could possibly be. (so this is about possibilities, not a wishlist..) And IF we don't get ToD sets, there are only a couple of things left: Raiders: Himalaya Bar, University, PanAM Clipper, Kairo streets, Map room, Flying Wing, Ship and Submarine, Opening of the Ark Crusade: Train, Venice underground, Venice Motorboats, Schloss Grunewald, Zepellin, Plane chase, Tank scene, Grail scene Since we got 3/4 from Raiders this year, it is unlikely that we get a big set in 2009 again. No ship and submarine I guess, would be 100$. PanAm Clipper is unlikely so early, it is like the SW Republic Cruiser, perhaps later or UCS. The final scene from Raiders, an ark again? unlikely. Uni? Himalaya BAr? Totally no (too unvehiclely). And since we got the big plane from crystal skulls this year, the Flying Wing plus the PanAm Clipper (again) plus ToD's Ford plane plus the plane chase are unlikely. The Map Room and venice underground are too much like Lost tomb.. Grail scene is too much like Temple Escape, the Zepellin is more UCS, the train is unlikely. The castle is almost impossible I'd say. Also we have to keep in mind that lego likes to have different vehicles, this year we got cars, bikes and a plane. I guess we will get the Venice motorboats (mid), Tank scene (big) and Kairo streets (small) if TLC sticks to the "anti-ToD policy". Otherwise there are possibilities of ObiWan Club - car chase - ford plane -elephant treck - Temple - Minecars - bridge, which could add the minecars (mid) in my opinion. I know this was a bit confusing, picking up old topics and I really hope these thoughts have not been discussed somewhere else.
  11. VERY nice work, Sir N. It might be a stupid question cause I never took notice if your minifigs were, but is this one customized? Never seen any parts like these. And if it is, how did you do it, and first of all (cheers so far): did you ever thought about selling them?
  12. These posters are too sweet - Lego is really putting a lot of effort into this license, which is nice to see. Not only are the sets and figs created in a very sophisticated way but original movie posters were never even made legoish with the SW license (except ANH but only for the game). I agree totally with darthperson that we need all the minifigs we saw on these posters, or also we will see in the game. Compared to SW it is kind of strange to see all the bricky characters already in a virtual way without being able to get a hand on them. We just got 6 or 7 minifigs from the old movies, while there are more than 40 in the game! And I am still upset that we didn't get a hovito! But at least tlc will not change their licenced minifigs back to yellow during the Indy line, my SW collection got a little out of control I really really hope we will get a lot of new Indy minifigs next year, not just 2 or 3. And we really need to get ToD minifigs, cause I have no clue how to customize them (no big fan of stickers). Let Indy live, TLC, please! Don't make this into Avatar or Spongebob or something, keep up the quality and quantity!
  13. Is there any information if a LSW1 or 2 save unlocks something? I don't know for what system it to get.. PS2 gives me 2 player combo action and psp lets me play it everywhere.... difficult. anyone of you with similiar issues? It is difficult to compare screens or youtube videos from LSW2 between PSP and PS2 - can someone tell me if the PSP version has good graphics? Or can't it keep up with the PS2 at all....? (all the reviews I found don't mention the differences between the versions...)
  14. Some are nice, like Cloud City and Dagobah, but Hoth and Mos Eisley are terrible in my opinion. As far as I know the hasbro stuff I agree with you, they look cheap and made without effort and love - but I am not a fan of SW action figures anyway, so just my 0,02€. BUT I am looking forward for the deathstar and I really hope we will get something Endor-ish next year!
  15. Nice find, always thought they do something like this for 25th birthday minifig celebration! As others said already, the choice is strange.. And it is nothing that turns me on, I have so many minifigs and these are not too interesting for me. I would have liked to see a futuron or blacktron1 minifig instead of the classic one, would match with the helmet, but that is just me. Also for Paradisa girl, 1991 train driver or mid 90s police, ANY WW fig or ANY Samurai fig I would definetely not say no ! The idea of theme oriented packs is too sweet.... but impossible..
  16. I am jealous of you, cause you have a PS3 - it is sooo silent! I bought a 360 just for this and it is quite noisy.. sigh... well, at least it was a lot cheaper than a PS3... : ) just played the game for 30 minutes last night, cause I have exams, but it looks and feels alright! cheers
  17. Yavin Temple with a B-Wing made me shiver... :-D
  18. anything female with the hp hermine hair is fine for me. I guess it would bring a lot of real life and "tension" to legoland which is occupied almost only by (police-)men *wacko*
  19. 1. Hoth Luke (Tauntauns.....) 2. Death Star Trooper (7668 helmet in black? - released with Death Star in Fall) 3. Endor Rebel Scout (released with Shuttle Tydirium) 4. Garindan (could come with Greedo, Chewie, Han, Bartender and musician in remade Cantina, released along with Bens house and Landspeeder with new windshield piece!)
  20. sorry for doublepost, safari messed up... :'-(
  21. looks like my girlfriend.... Nice work, CM! But tell me please... do you have so many Junos or just pasted several photos together...? 8-|
  22. thanks a lot for the nice comments! Oh yep... an easter egg... causing some time paradoxon for Harrison Ford ;-)
  23. thanks a lot for the comments, guys! It can fit a driver and 4 minifigs (or Han Solos reward for leading the Empire to Yavin 4 :-| ) and consists of 26 pieces (original model has 58 pc.).
  24. I am relaxed as long as he has less (and less rare) OT minifigs and sets than me! :-D The thing about making piles of the same boxes is a bit scary though (no offense when you read this!) - is it a "toyshop syndrom"?
  25. Hi there! I got my Rebel Speeder a few weeks ago (for less than 10€ :'-) ) and decided to build it last evening while watching a movie that got more and more boring.. I simply love the minifigs (better than standard grin) and guns (soo legoish!), guess it is a fair price (compared to the 10€ I spent on 7110 9 years ago - definitely!), but the speeder staid complete for less than 2 minutes. I cannot deal with EU stuff, so I decided to turn it into a Rebel Ground Transport from the Massassi Outpost that you can see here. I used pieces from the original set only, and I made it in 5 minutes... Also I took the pics with the cell (not having a camera), so please be gentle on me.. :-$ In my opinion it works pretty well, so well I actually thought that TLC had something like this in mind as an alternate model for all the New Hope Fans! Comments welcome! : )
