Cheese slopes are extras though, and you can use those green ones perfectly to improve the front. And yes, it is an amazing set.

I would even make one step beyond: get yourself one of the 1989 sets. 6270 Forbidden Island if you like pirates, or the legendary 6276 Eldorado Fortress. They are superior to the new sets. If you want your figs to look similiar and wish to have some new sets (cause you want NEW sets for a good price, you prefer them or cause you want to army-build), go for the Imperial Flagship. Anyway: try out one big and beautiful set and then see for yourself. I can assure you that even if you cannot / don't want to combine it with your town, you will have loads of fun playing with the set, or just looking at it. Yes they are that wonderful. I am not that super-positive cause this is the pirates forum, I would advise the same to anyone who tells me he always wanted to have castle or space or whatever. (In that cases I would say get an old set or the MMV/ Space Police Central) Variety, it's all about that! Life's too short to stick to one thing.

New factions would you like to see for the Kingdoms line?
Zzz replied to Sirens-of-Titan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Forestmen or Wolfpack all the way. But I doubt it, something tells me that this time around castle will have only 2 factions. -
Sorry, I am too sleepy these days and I guess I was too confused and distracted by the excaliburs sword;) Sure, angle on the left is not 45, it is cheese. Sorry again. Too bad they put the worst dragon knights' torso in the calendar, the other ones are way more versatile. Not a fan of those chains.
-
My bad. Was a 1x3x1 double slope. Don't have too many of this and was confused.. Love this calendar. Hope this is final and no changes for it.
-
In the advent calendar.. is there a new 1x1 cheese slope?

That is one hell of a review! Didn't read such a nice one since some time, I really enjoyed it! And the fact your son is waiting for the model to play and you had to hurry didn't prevent you from making spot-on clear pictures, very nice and interesting! Your english is perfect (What's up with you swedish people anyway, you have 2 languages I think sometimes.. does anyone still speak swedish over there;)??) and I enjoyed your humour and all the AFOL-ish knowledge you were providing us with so easily. Greets from Tokyo, thanks a lot and please, more of that in the future! PS Thanks for the Obi-Wan and Trooper seating, thats what I needed to know. Oh and please let your son play a lot with the set, and tell us when the General loses his arms! About the set.. I don't know. It seems a pretty nice set, nice colour and parts. Grey is my favorite. If the figs turn out to have a good BL price, I might sell them and give the fighter to my Obiwan. He spends too much time in gunships anyway. Needs some space for himself.

It's smaller than 7470, it looks like 30 studs wide. Guess 7470 had 36 wingspan. I like it but I doubt I will get it. Would have prefered something even smaller.. (why is everything getting bigger and bigger with TLC anyway?)
-
Calendar seems to come with lots of civilian minifigs this time.. Me likes!

Have you seen those people collecting 500 or more Stormtroopers? Either you like it or not. Or let me say it differently: get an AT-AT and blast it to pieces with your squadron! Back to topic: the speeder has gone through some strange design changes again - but is still not as "ok" as 4500 I think. I am really disappointed we didn't get the new "Hoth Officer" torso in the BP and TLC was throwing the 11 year old version in.. sigh. I guess I speak for some here that I don't need that cave and a stickered inferior Snowspeeder, but Luke and Wampa are nice. Either BL the whole bunch or wait for a 30β¬ish price. That's my thought about it in the moment. What would have let me do a more positive decision: price, Tauntaun, better SS

I guess I will build the minority, but I think that 4502 is not such a great model. I have to admit that the X's shape is really difficult to capture, and TLC did an ok job designing it in 2003, but if there is one set that really deserves an upgrade, it is the X-Wing. Flaws of 4502: colour sceme, general shape too pointy, cockpit too sparse, lasers too short, terrible landing gear, engines placed with too much space in between, motor shape off, back shape off Just my 2 cent. I think next year there'll be a redesign.
-
Mr Onesnowtrooper, I suggest you can pick it up by the fin and carry it around - so how does the roof close? Like the CW RAS, that secured the roof at the front? Thanks a lot for enlightening me.
-
Thanks for the review - I am curious about the landing gear!
-
I totally agree that the target group is different to the ones buying, for example, the PoP "castle" or the new Hogwarts, and so it is different what TLC delivers. And I have to admit that I was not a huge fan of lots of castle lines (just to make you sure that if you were, you can just ignore my comment!). Knights Kingdom, Fright Knights, Dragon Knights etc etc - I don't like it. But compared to the 2 "black" castles and the (roughly) 1987-1992 sets, the new ones seem to lack in design. I am afraid "basic" is really my harsh idea of what they deliver (even if I am happy for fans about the neutral torso, even tempted to get a set for that).
-
Perhaps I am spoiled by licenced Lego, but.. is it just me or is the design rather basic..?
-
Animated signatures are worse than big ones, or at least to me. They make my browser freek out. Still, smaller is better to me, but 50 is too small. I would like to see if it's worth to click the link, if an MOC is worth a visit. Difficult with 50pix. Just me though.

Now which one is the aprils fools....? Both? Now this is kind of clever.
-
I guess it is just that some people consider getting something else if they own already the previous AT-ATs. With some pretty nice sets coming out this year, I can understand them And sometimes it is even nice to take too similiar reincarnations as a chance to spend time and money to get something else. And not be lured by an exclusive minifigure. I for one can tell that it is a nice experience, very satisfying, mind-opening. Because, and there you are right, it is just a toy!
-
Why does everyone say it looks like the last one? To me it looks pretty much like 4483 with less details. I guess it is not that obvious on this picture, but the new ones' legs are like 4483, giving it a skinnier look from the front, like the real one. I expected it to be hard for TLC to surpass 4483 and I am afraid I was right. It is still the most superior AT-AT of all of them, without a doubt. Sure the minifigs are nice, but the model has less detail.

I hope that the prices for the rest of the world will be equally fair, but I doubt it. USD 80 for the Alamut Castle is really nice, and I am happy for you Americans that you can get such a lovely set for so few money. I am not a huge fan of the underground cave, it just looses against "Temple Escape" Or the "Temple of Doom", but especially the citylife, market-sets are just so nice as an oriental setup, not even to play some sort of story based on the movie but as a standalone. I hope that if the movie flops, people will see the potential of the sets. Cause I said once that SW is the better Space, and Indy is the better Adventurerers (sorry!), and PoP seems to be the better version of a possible (never occured) orient-based castle subtheme. It just seems that good. Colours, build, figures. On the other hand I hate PoP for cutting off Indy, cause it was my favorite theme, but once I lay my hand on the PoP castle or market, I guess I will forget my worries.. It looks wonderful. (They could have added a palm in some set though )
-
TLC sells it in the US - L I N K Wonderful review, was a pleasure to read and your pics are as sharp as a HDTV. It seems to be a lovely persian castle, whatever the characters, movie, story or background will be, this is just a nice set to display and to play with it seems. Lovely. I kind of hate PoP for throwing out Indy, my favorite line, but the sets seem to be very very nice.

Sure they will. But next year. And who knows which ones they gonna chose..
