Midi is nice. Didn't get the falcon but plan to. Midi Venator would be even better than an ISD, though.

Thanks a lot for the pic, PI! This makes my day, no stupid smile on Luke or Ben! And I have to say, I like this new box art on the back a lot. Started with the CW summer sets last year, if I remember, but they didn't use it too often. Way better to have an alternative angle than only the detailed little pics. Also the white background is nice, way better than red/orange. I especially liked the package of the CW Y-Wing.

usual things mostly for me: - stickers (or my inability to be a 100% precise) - inconsistency of minifigs (yellow, flesh, now pupils) - total ignorance of some needed sets (cantina) and figures (CW Barc Clone, Padme, etc.) But what really bugs me is the painted trousers. Why are there not more, especially (!) for the Parka / cold environment minifigs. By printing the upper part of the trouser in the same colour as the body, it looks like a longer jacket. Perfect! Tatooine Luke has it. Even the one from 1999! But it would be needed for any Hoth trooper, Luke and Han - or also for snowy Anakin. Would look perfect.

2 Battlepacks for 2011: CW (if it is still on) - Clone cold assault dress - Barc Trooper, green Camo - Arc Trooper (or any special Clone, you guys know better what is rare, so fill in the blank) - Clone Pilot - Barc Speeder bike OT - Cantina musician (with some bricks to build different music instruments) - Jawa - Sandtrooper - some Alien PLUS: any set with a CW Padme.

I am not sold on the Wampa Cave yet. Luke has another new torso? Why didn't they take it for the BP? it seems way more accurate. And the Wampa seems ok, but no revolution like the tauntaun, which I really liked. Second the Snowspeeder is terrible. This one really needed some improvement, and no, the canopy doesn't open completely. 4500 still better choice.

300NZD = 150 EUR Seems ok to me....? Here is hoping for some nice trains, which I didn't see since the great days of the Metroliner...

If there was a new one, I hope it is not a 100$ set actually. I have the 4504 version and "I find the lack of detail disturbing". At least a 1000 pieces more are neaded to mod it into something useful. So please no upgraded version of 4504. A 300$ set is something we can talk about, though.

If I remember correctly Lego surprised us almost every time with new keyrings and magnets. But what about it, didn't they come out in January usually? Any rumours about it?

Me too, that is why I mod them. :) The problem about the change of heads is that some people like it if all the minifigs have the same look when displayed together, what I can understand. There are some that came out only in yellow, some only in light flesh, and now some like this. Small problem. Looks confusing together. And I was hoping for a New Hope Obi-Wan like in the Death Star, cause I really like that fig. And getting Lukes and Bens heads of BL seems pricy, a lot. Also I have to say that I think they look too happy. So it was a bad choice by TLC using such a generic head, but whatever. Actually I was convinced to get this set early, but now not anymore.

Small comparision (just made it for myself, wanted to share it, not to smarty-pant-around): Landspeeder is 163 parts, 4 minifigs, 2 droids Echo Base is 155 parts, 5 minifigs, 1 Tauntaun Droid Tri-Fighter 268 parts, 3 droids this one 177 parts, 2 minifigs (all have the same price, almost same release year) On one hand you are right in what you were saying, Gassmann, there could have been one more fig. And a cold assault clone would have been a) nice and b) a reason to get a second set) But my examples play with wrong numbers, since all the other figures from other sets were done before (with very little changes) and Anakin and the Talz will not appear in any other set, that is obvious. Anyway, as others I am also not that into the newer Clone Wars, cause I think art design, style, drama and synchro are simply not my piece of cake. But I consider the Lego CW models as the best space models TLC ever came up with and this is no exception. For those ones who think like me, is a one-minute-video on youtube showing the speeder and some scenes from the CW episode. Rather nice atmosphere and I have to admit, the snow looks great.

Thanks for the review, was very much fun to read! Good pictures and all I need to know about it, thanks a lot! Didn't know about the radar screen.. nice! But there is this certain feeling I will not need several General Veers and AT-AT drivers. And there is this even stronger feeling that exactly this minifig lineup will be included in the rumoured AT-AT. Guess I'd rather go with another Echo Base instead, seems more value (Keep in mind the BPs cost 15€ in Europe) to me. @Mr Green Brick: They have no choice, it is Lucas who wants every single package of anything (from Lego to Pez) to have the same look. Guess 10th anniversary was just an exception. And come one, the CW sets are not that bad !

The official german retail catalogue shows the old-style minifig faces for the Landspeeder. I guess it is clear now that they use old heads for exisiting minifigs and new heads for new minifigs. IF the catalogue doesn't use a beta (Anakin driving Lukes Landspeeder?). Still a bit strange to see bruce Waynes and Indy-Nozis' faces on SW minifigs though.

And this is the final catalogue? The Landspeeder comes with Anakin Skywalker?? Wow. I got it wrong all the time. Should see the movies again... Seriously, I was in joy that the minifigures are old-school-style, but seeing this name made me believe perhaps this is even still a beta version and not the final design.

Could the wheels on the tank be rubber? Now that would be amazing. I am not into the technic/ferrari/racers etc-scene that deep, so is it an already exisitng part or does it seem new?

I know this is a bit of an old topic, but I have to reply to it. Thanks at first for your very nice review, great pictures, and great action in them! You capture the feel of actually playing with them, not just putting them in the shelf to collect dust. Good job, keep on doing it! The set is one of my favorites, if not my favorite PT set. (Closely followed by the new N-1, Obi-Wans Fighter from E2 and the new Arc170 perhaps) What makes it so special is the detail put into a small set, the Tusken minifig, Anakin (who is amazing with his cape, all the dark colours), the vaporisator with lots of useful elements and good use for any Tatooine setting, and the speeder bike. The speeder bike is I think the best bike Lego has ever designed. Better than the Endor or CW ones, perhaps also cause of the cool original, with the front lowered it just looks cool and mean. The parts are so useful for any Space-MOC, cause I really have not that many dark red parts, and these come in handy pretty often. Besides this the set should get some attention, as it was (if I remember it right) one of the last smaller sets for a very long time, that was actually useful. It is pretty much fun also, to drive the bike around, to play with the Tuskens and just feel the vibe of the twin suns going down. If you like Tatooine, you should get it. If you are a hardcore OT fan, this is your entrance ticket to the nice figs and models of the PT, also. And as a sidenote I have to admit, that I really like E2, the music and visuals are amazing, the whole tension is very well made. Best E2 set, and my favorite PT set. Don't underrate or overlook this!

I am holding back my vote, til I see the new Landspeeder set. Judging by the pics we got so far, it is difficult to see if they have the old eyes or the new ones. Someone said they use the old eyes but I am not too sure. That would mean Discontinuance in one year, what is strange. If they use new ones, it means that all the other minifigs will get new faces and they don't fit anymore to the ones from last year or the years before. Discontinuance again. So if someone with a big collection likes them to look all the same, you have to make a choice between staying with the old style or changing the old ones into new ones, using Batman and Indy heads for the ones not available. It is weird and strange. I really like the newer heads, like them on my Indy and Batman figs or on MOCs, but it seems strange when they are standing next to the old style ones. So if you want them look the same way, I ask myself, where the heck do I take all the heads for my rebel troops from? I guess I will depend it a bit on the Landspeeder, and I hope it will give us the old style Ben and Luke used in the Death Star and UCS MF. If not, I will buy the Death Star.

I am sure that the Slave I will be very nice. Not judging by the picture but from the last one, and that was almost perfect. Just too bad we don't seem to get the rumored minifigs, Leia would have been nice. Vote me also in for some Cloud City guy. Or just give us a new CLoud City, TLC. Yeah , you can do that. I really hope that they just took the Snowspeeder from the Echo Base set for the prelim pic, and they give us a new design. That one was horrible, worse than 4500 and just boring. They can do better. Add a 50 pieces to the parts count and you can do some nice detailed thing that actually looks a bit like the real one. Anything CW looks nice so far, especially the tank. Azure Angel, wonderful tricky with the stripes, shuttle looks damn good. Hope for some landing gear and boarding ramp. Nice, very. Still looking forward to hear any more rumours about the AT-AT. Would be happy with the number of pieces already.

Thanks a lot for the review! Just some thoughts about it. I think the 4th rendition of the Hoth troops should have been better. I would have loved to finally see some Parka jackets on them, made with print on the upper part of the trouser, like Luk here or Indiana Jones' Willy Scott (both versions) or others. Would have been more like in the movie: Then again, colours. Come on, TLC. They have lighter arms and darker gloves, and you make the arms grey and gloves white all the time. I agree it is difficult to match the dirty white of the rebels' parkas and helmets, but white would have made it. Pilot is great with the new visor. I know some people are annoyed by me, that it is important that the faces changed. But I don't like it. We will see if the landspeeder also has new faces, I would prefer the old ones, just to have at least some (yellow, sigh) continuincy in my collection. The ice cutter seems nice for such a small set. Nice. Best BP vehicle so far. Voted average. Oh and something tells me we are going to see the almost exact minifigs later this year in bigger sets. Pilot and Hoth Trooper in the Wampa set, and all of the others BPs minifigs in the new AT-AT. Just a guess.

I excused already in advance and asked for understanding that some people care. There are also a lot of things endlessly discussed in this topic that I or others don't care at all about, but I never made such a statement about it. I am sorry, but I concern about other things than you, no need for your reply.

Is there any confirmation yet that Luke and Ben have the same faces as in the UCS MF or Death Star? For me they could be new, judging from the pic on amazon.de. (I know that some people here don't like that others care a lot about this, I am sorry but I do. Collecting since 99. Thanks!)

Thanks a lot for the review! This car is just super sweet, good model, looks great. What gives me shivers though is the minifg, I would run away screaming from him in real life. His style (green pants,white hoody and a brown suitcase) is terrible, and the smirk on his face makes him look insane/evil/crazy for me.
