Tasty.. Not half bad for a January. One Endor BP is a bit sad though, and I don't see myself buying the CW BP only for one fig (ARC). X-Wing.. finally. 4504 needs an update. Don't mess this one up, TLC. Dare you! YOu have improved so much, this is the most iconic ship of all the movies together. Please don't mess it up! Don't supersize! Small and detailed, that's how we like it!! Collectibles... very very tasty. Let's see what comes here. E3 is almost sold, but what might it bee for such a small price...?

works just fine here! -
Ugh - offense taken ! Poor Ice Planet people, they wouldn't like to be in that Echo Base!

I am not planning on having Vikings anymore but still have their best set, the awesome ship. 6 Figures, 578 pieces. I am in no hurry to sell and paid 62€ I guess - would still like to have 65€ for it. - box has shelf ware and price sticker but was not seriously damaged or opened - adult collector, non-smoking, no pets - shipping 6,30€ in Germany, 20€ in Europe (except Channel Islands etc) ____________________________________________ Then, who wants Stormies? Have a brand new Stormie BP 7667 for sale. 20€ - box has small shelf ware and price sticker but no damage otherwise - adult collector, non-smoking, no pets - shipping 4,30€ in Germany, 15€ in Europe (except Channel Islands etc) Please PM! ( I don't accept paypal, I prefer good old fashioned bank transaction, what should cost you nothing if you deal in € anyway) Cheers

Thanks a lot for this review, it was done very nicely and gives me an opinion about this set: Skip it and seriously consider TLC to be monkeys who think they can ask for more and more money, delivering something like this. I found the original base 7666 insanely ridicolous (60€ for a worse Snowspeeder, some minifigs and a door..) but I got K-3PO and the probe droid of Bricklink eventually. Here I cannot even consider that, even if the minifigs are nice, I would feel ripped and cheated. This set is proof of TLC asking for too much and becoming pretty moronic when it's about LSW. I would advice to all those LSW OT nerds (that I was one myself) to consider not getting everything they spit our anymore and asking yourself if this is value that you get.

HIghly doubt single packed figures for mentioned reasons. High hopes for lots of smaller sets though. Was surprised to see so many small Cars sets - that's the way to go, TLC!
-
That TIE looks amazing at first glance, but it seems more like a small UCS then. I love it when big ships get scaled down for minifigs (it's cute), but since some time TLC makes some of them bigger than they should be for minifigs. And that looks a bit strange to me..
-
Surely the minifigs look good and forgive me if I am not too deep into comics, so - what the heck are the sets going to look like? I remember that making Batman minifigs wasn't a problem. It was the sets that was difficult and didn't appeal to too many. Anyone remember that little Mr Freeze buggy or the 2nd penguin sub? Weren't those weird excuses to sell some minifigs? Now what on earth would a Superman or Wonder Woman or Thor come along with? Didn't TLC state on some occasion that selling vehicles and playsets is where the money is? Wasn't that one of the reasons that certain Indy sets and PoP in general didn't perform too well? Just thinking.. don't get me wrong. If someone is keen on these minifigs, it's me. I want an Iron Man keyring! But I am not willing to buy a weird 50€ set to get a wonder woman. Just my 2 cent..

Darn, I need to sell my misb Batwing.......!
-
Black Pearl - they rely too much on the name I am afraid. They do it in this whole series, all the models lack quiet a lot of detail and vibe. Indy and PoP were by far better themes. Did they know it'll be a tough sale and put more effort in quality there? If I had to go for one ship, it'd be the QAR, but right now it seriously looks like I will skip this whole theme..

I think TLC should realise how much people love the historical minifigs from the Collectable minifigs series, first of all the Spartan, but also Elf (I know..), Muskateer, Samurai, Pharaoh. I guess the Gladiator and the Royal Guard will also get much attention. I really think that a Roman theme has lots of potential, and kids would love it. Playmobil was pretty successfull with their Roman/Egypt theme, and TLC should look beyond the same old good vs bad scheme - they should give us quality playsets like PoP with Romans. That would be absolutely beautiful. I would see myself sink a lot of money into this, and I wouldn't be alone. They shouldn't give up just cause PoP was not selling well. Romans have much more potential than a strange video game movie. Imagination, that is! They know they sell the imagination, not the licence. (or they better should..) Just my 2 cent.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Zzz replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Our voice is or wallet, like in any business. No one listens to complains about prices. But to lower sales, they will. It's how it is. I like SW sets but I would probably get a few more if they weren't so darn expensive. And I don't think I'm alone with this idea. 90€ for 570 pieces is just too much. For the minifigs: There are quiet a few I don't want and need in #5, but I would still buy about 15 or so (multiples included - I'm a sucker for historical minifigs - Gladiator, yeah!). That'd be 7,50€ more for me. I couldn't care less, seriously. I still love those minifigs, they're just great! Still, with the missing barcodes (main reason), my utter inability to 'read' the bags 100% and the price increase altogether, I won't invest as much, as - let's say - into season 2. Now that's true. That was fun to pass by the figs and get another surfer or Karate-guy, just with a look into my cellphone. I am always deciding with my wallet, guess everyone does. But the barcodes are seriously a way bigger issue against spending more than the price increase. -
Great review, NTF! I like the part with the gear making it displayable! That was fun! The frigate is seriously one of the best CW sets to date. I absolutely consider getting this. Not only that is looks cool, has lots of features, but the Jedi and troops will make a great addition to my clone army. Plus, it can hold some figs which is a rare sight and I simply love those ships able to hold some minifigs.. Landing gear, colours, holograph, it's all there! @def - hope you find some -15% offer at TRU, amazon or Bic soon. I remember getting my 7676 in Japan for a nice price!

TLC made it to make an Echo Base without Snowspeeder, X-Wings, Tauntauns, any command officer, any weapons seen in the movie (turrets, ion cannon), power generator. Amazing. I was hoping for an Endor-style playset, which was terrific. Well, whatever. It's bricks. Don't be lazy and build your own, right?
-
I wouldn't name my mechs Tokyo Pit or Pit Stop, though! Sorry, I couldn't resist... Great review - I really like this set. I have no idea about the movie, but still it's nice Coming back to the stickers - it's very strange to see japanese letters in a 90 degree upside down writing. They never do that over there, seriously. They would write it like this: 東 京 ピ ッ ツ ス ト ッ プ But enough of this smarty-pants acting. Just my 2 cent.
-
Hmm, there better be a snowspeeder in the echo base. And it's better have a new design. TLC manages is to downgrade 4500 with every version since 2004. If they can make a decent AT-ST for BoE, they can create a nice T-47 as well. Also, there must be more than the 3 main characters and robots on the rebel's side. Abso-freaking-lutely. I am not asking for the troopers, we can buy battle packs. But a few higher ranked ones with Luke's torso from the Wampa cave will be highly appreciated. Looking forward to see some pictures, what should be very soon my feeling says : )

Tantive IV. I was keen on it since years and for 20% off it's a good price. 1470something pieces - great! Of course I will throw out Leia's pretentious desk and the boring minifigs. This will become a cool Battle of Endor military ship. I mean, come on - if this is a consular ship, where is the ambassador?? I don't know what to do with the Shadow ARF though. I am garanteed to get my 30€ for him, I will sell him happily and get 5 Camo Rebels to add to my troops. But ending up selling him for poor 10€, I might regret it. One day I gonna want a night attack crew for my gunship!
-
Thanks for the pics, grogal! I like the Tokyo set but someone should have told TLC that's not the way the Japanese write things. The letters don't turn 90 degreees, they stay upright..

I was afraid the advent calendar was going to be like this. I'll pass, for me this is just cheap money-making. Sure, another Imp Pilot is welcomed, but the rest is a bad collection of figures they still had somewhere around. The mini models are all not worth it. Don't even know what the 3rd thing in the first row is. Honestly, I am a SW fan, but I have no idea what this is. Santa Yoda is terrible. I am not into this whole xmas thing anyway, but this is simply horrible, kiddy and unncessary.
-
What a great review - thanks a lot for this! : ) I especially liked it how you incorporate it into the QAR, where it's supposed to take place! I have to admit, I like the Jack Sparrow minifig and all the accesoires and parts, it is indeed very lovely. But since I don't see a need for those 2 Zombie pirates (that are not exclusive) and the price is just too high for what you get (15€), I am going to skip this. I am a bit worried sometimes about the direction that the 15€ Licence-sets go. Anyone remember Indiana Jones (Cairo)? 4 exclusive minifigs, nice parts and useful stuff? Then PoP, which had 4 figs at first but then was reduced to 3 figs and a horse? Still, the horse was nice but there was not much besides the figs and the horse. And now this. 3 figs seem normal in 2011, with no exclusives. Also the SW BPs were lazy this year, one had 4 similiar and boring figures, the other 3 lazy new prints and one with a new helmet. 2010 was much better there, the Hoth BPs were really nice. But this only on a sidenote..

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Zzz replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's funny how we all see different potential in each series! I count the very good ones and the ok ones and have to say, that Season 2 was by far the best for me, with 7 very good ones. S5 will have about 5 very good ones - and I am happy for that. Will probably get 13 different and some multiples. -
It seems to be nice little set, I like Sparrows face print and the Islanders, parts are nice and the cage is sweet, but there should have been also Gibbs in the set. Still, I would be interested if the set wasn't twice the price than in the US over here in Europe (40€ = 60$). Sorry, Lego, but you are asking for too much.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Zzz replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
The € prices are pretty high. I had hopes for something more in PoP and not in SW range. (The bigger sets in PoP were very fairly priced!) Still, they look beautiful. -
I would go for 928. Both the Town sets are a bit empty for my taste, they really lose against other sets from the same time. And between the 2 Space sets, while they are both very good, but 928 is just an amazing piece of art and feels more like that 80s starfighter from Sci-Fi movies, 6985 is more the little bit clunky and bigger exploration craft. The RGS is definitely the better set, the more fun, the cooler one to customize, to swoosh around, to move your troops with. Dropship is ok basically. You get a few more pieces (what is it, about 600?) and it's more rare. Most important point could be, though, that there is never going to be another dropship. That's kind of sure. It's just too strange. For the RGS, I hate to say it cause it is my favorite set of the CW sub-theme and it should stay a unique masterpiece, but I guess there'll be an update eventually. The end of the CW series will be marked with AT-TE and RGS updates. I would bet on it, since these are the most common vehicles in the series. Still, tough choice, since 7676 is amazing.
