TLC makes some stupid decisions. I loved those sets. Got me some very cheap (multiple) minifigs. What's the sense of keeping the BL-prices high? No one knows..
-
Great! (not that there're people flooding this page with fake info, but that he made up that info) So there's still hope for Luke, Rebel, Ewok, Stormtrooper, Scout Trooper.

Thanks for this very nice review! I would say it's one of the best Atlantis sets and probably the best of 2011. I would rank it pretty high, on par with the Space Police Central. Both sets show what amazing playsets TLC can make. Action and Space and others focus so much on vehicles, sure they are nice, but playsets, that's where you are really good, TLC! You should make more in SW, like Endor. YOu didn't put the minifigs into the sub, does it hold both with the normal (of course not the huge propeller) oxygen tanks? Seems so..

I know this discussion is going in a whole different direction, since most sets are CW, but.. .. am I the only one being a bit annoyed by the fact that the Endor set comes with 3 Ewoks and 2 Scouts? Yeah I know some (hundred) pages ago I said why even bother about Endor, we have everything we need! But I changed my mind (learning that Leias torso cannot be used for Luke cause it has boobs and perhaps or even more by the fact that there won't be too many OT sets in 2011 - you get what you can..) Anyway, I changed my mind and thought, wow, a new Luke or Han, more Endor Rebels and Biker Scouts, not too bad. Seriously, I don't want to offend anyone but getting three Ewoks is like they gave us 3 generic policemen. Not too useful to me. Also I doubt we gonna get 3 new ones. Guess I am not alone, who wants an Ewok army instead of a rebel army?

Thanks for the review! Very nice indeed! I was looking forward for this, seems like a better set from the 2011 line. Thanks to your very nice comparision with the older model, I have to admit that I guess there is no such huge improvement over the the old one. Altogether, Police and Fire seem to take a step back: 2nd last fire station was better, 2nd last police station was better. Still, for those who don't have a dog unit yet, it's a nice set. 8€ seems fair and the dog is lovely!

I am collecting LSW since 1999 - am I sick of it? Not at all. I was the one who wanted more detailed sets and more detailed minifigs (on par with Indy etc.) and I got exactly what I wanted. My latest AT-ST looks like the king of the universe besides the very first one. Actually, I don't display old stuff anymore. Sometimes I even sold old sets and minifigs to make room for new sets and figs. Sure, some sets are too expensive and an obvious rip-off, so I wait for a bargain. Some sets are worse than their older iterations, so I don't get them. Some sets are boring, so I don't get them. I did that since the beginning and I'm fine with it. Could there be more sets? For a mainly-OT-collector there were some hard years with few sets - but there were always sets for the OT. Every single year. It's not a matter of course to get sets from 30 year old movies I think, and I am happy for every single set. 2010 for example didn't have anything new, and so far 2011 looks very Clone-ish, but the brilliant 2009 excuses all these faults: Echo Base, Endor, Home One and Tantive IV were probably the best OT sets ever made. Am I sick of the CW? Since some time I am really into the EU comics and stories, I like to read some comics and novels here and then and like to browse though wookieepedia. I like the first cartoon series a lot, it's very nice and shows the ships and vehicles in the same coolness as ANH and ESB did, what made us all want a Falcon or X-Wing. Good job. But the new Clone Wars is the worst thing ever: A poor rip off from famous movies story-wise, and the design is terrible. I don't understand the designer's obsession for ugly noses on the characters, perhaps I don't get the joke or I am too inspired by japanese comic style but it is just bad. The first batches of the sets had a nice design with very nice play features, but I have to admit that I only posess the LAAT/i and a couple of battle packs - and I modded it and the CW figs to an E2-E3 ship. Real Lego look, no cartoon look. I thought about buying the Twilight cause it's a nice ship but didn't make it for half the price and don't want to pay todays price. I have no intention at all to buy any future CW set cause I don't like their recycled and poor design (on Lucas side) plus the minifigs don't appeal to me. Except Ahsoka. I don't have her yet but i think she is too cute. I mean the minifig, not her in the show or whatever. I just think she is sweet and I should get her somehow. Otherwise, I couldn't care less about the CW.

Which is your favourite upcoming Lego minifigure in 2011?
Zzz replied to commanderneyo's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Perhaps we should wait with the "best of 2011" votes til we have all the sets available. When I think about when we got info on the UCS Shuttle and it's minifigs, there is still a lot to come. I understand people are excited, so am I, believe me, but this is a bit pointless. Sorry, don't want to sound rude! -
There's something wrong about this info.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Zzz replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The AT-ST is very huge and definitely close to 25€/30$ I would say. I didn't count the pieces but I would suggest it has almost 200. TLC's marketing department found out there is only demand in the price ranges 15/27/50/100/150€ - for whatever reason. And they follow it almost strictly with a few exceptions here and there. About the small sets (which were 10€ in the EU btw.) - they were replaced by the battle packs, since there was a high demand for those (there was none for the Assassin droids and I doubt there'll be for the Mandos but they didn't ask me, right?) and TLC's product management didn't want to have several small sets out at the same time. Just my thoughts about it but I guess it went more or less like this. And on a more personal note, I found the Ice Cutter very very cool. Love that thing. Perhaps the first and only vehicle in a battle pack I liked. EDIT: Came across minifig sw253a today - a Hoth Han with new 2010 faceprint. Anyone knows if this is just a joke or does it really appear in newer 7749 sets? -
Changed my vote from Sumo to Samurai after seeing what's under the armor...

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Zzz replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Penelope Cruz - I swear I thought she was replaced by her sister cause of her pregnancy. Can't find it on imdb anymore, though. Strange things happen to my memory lately.. Anyway, one thing about prices: If you leave out Star Wars (and it's 180pieces=37€ sets) I think there is already a considerable amount of "normal" system sets that are priced pretty high. For example the new Scorpion Pyramid for 100€ (800 parts), Spae Police Central (80€ for 630p) or Prison Tower Rescue (50€ for 360p). Then there are Licence sets that are priced very fairly like Indiana Jones in Venice or Alamuth Castle - or even the Tantive IV from SW with about 10€cent per piece. I would say, it depends a bit. Licences are more expensive, but not always. We might be lucky. Especially after TLC wasn't successfully selling PoP, they might chose a more rational price. We will see. On a site note, I am a bit surprised that TLC's marketing didn't include a spoiler minifig in the announcement, like the digital Indiana Jones back then. Totally strange. -
Wow, 2 more sets for the CW collection.. And btw, one small rant: It seems that Lucas and this wannabe-Indiana-Jones-guy just randomly put some new vehicles here and there into the TV series to make Hasbro & Co produce toys and get more money. And they cover it up in some cheesy copies of sci-fi films with animation that would make a japanese first-year student of 3D animation shiver in pain. Seriously, who writes these stories and who is responsible for the art direction? Padme looks like... well, not like Nathalie Portman whatsoever. rant over, sorry for that At least, with every CW set a big OT exclusive is getting more possible...

Ebay does. Lot's of people don't realise the magnet's existence and pay stupid prices on ebay or BL. Also I buy magnets to get my hands on some rare minifigs. I guess I am not alone in saying I'd rather get a magnet set than the stupid Swamp Speeder to have a Barriss Offee minifig. So it is sad to hear that in the future they might glue all the figs in the magnet packs together...
-
I honestly never noticed.. Really, I have to take a closer look at my minifigs. (I also belong to the people that never noticed by themselves that there are 2 different torsos - round edges and so..) Anyway, good discussion here, guys. I guess you all got my point. I think we got a bit lazy sometimes in what we want for new sets. One new fig makes us happy already, you know?
-
Yeah I know there is none but he could be easily made with a 2nd Leia, right? EDIT: Plus, is even one minifig reason enough for a whole set? They might put in more speeder bikes, a catapult, and a few troops. Doesn't justify a new set so soon after 8038. Smells like very very easy money. (I will take everything back if we really get something NEW)
-
One thing that I wonder about: what's the deal with the 2011 Endor set? (and on a side note: why did so many ask for Endor battle packs?) 8038 was one of the best sets ever and gave us everything that has been on Endor. Rebel Camo Scouts, Camo Leia, Biker Scouts, Imperial Trooper, AT-ST, speeder bikes, Ewoks and their stuff What do people expect from another Endor set? (and if the answer is Camo Luke or more troops, this can be easily solved in buying another 8038 I think) This just puzzles me...

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Zzz replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Confirmed! I thought they might confim with a pic, but whatever, here we go! I hope for: - fair prices like PoP or Indy, not like SW - 15€ set with 4 (four) figs - 15€ set as an army builder (not for pirates, TLC!) - super amazing minifigs (should be easy) and a lot of them - a nice Keira Knightley minifig - buildings and vessels on the level of PoP and Indy - success (not that I wanted a 2nd batch for PoP, but it is sad to see it's failure, those sets are amazing!) - a Shanghai set (I know that MB made one and TLC might not want to simply copy it, but still) I am not a huge PotC fan (I find it hard to sit through those 160min movies except part 1 - the sequels were all really boring) but super detailed Pirates sets? Harrrr.... Count me in, you landlubbers! -
I am rather happy we get something new (SP3 is cool but 2 years is enough, shouldn't go on forever) and Space is not again canceled completely! Aliens though.. Let me say, I don't like Space-Aliens too much, I prefer SW. They are a bit cuter.. Something about this news makes me happy like a boy on christmas.. the word "soldier"... I am in!

It's a tough one for me. I had the most fun with some Star Wars sets. I love them. But there is also too much rubbish, and we vote here for a theme and not for 3 sets or so. Then Classic Town needs to be considered, between 1980 and 1996. It has such a vast amount of beautiful sets and is just so amazingly innocent and cute. Then there are themes I don't own or I own just a few sets of and so I shouldn't vote for them but Prince of Persia, Classic Space and Classic Castle are all pretty solid and nice. My vote goes to Indiana Jones. Amazing vehicles. Amazing playsets. Amazing minifigs. Colours. Detail. Parts. I own almost all the classic sets and there is only one faulty, the Flying Wing. Besides, they are all just beautiful.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
Zzz replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Minifigs I liked in Series 1: 8 Series 2: 8 Series 3: 8 Series 4: 4 A bit disappointing, if it is true. If it stays like this, I will probably get some on ebay, if there is no bar(de)coding. What should I do with all these figs I don't need? If I want 50% I could sell the unwanted ones on ebay, but not selling 75% of the figs. Plus, with my usual luck it might be 90%... Just my thoughts. (Series 2 was the strongest and most diversified by far imho) -
HUA, I was right! Come into my arms, little V-Wing!!

@ Ferdik / freeedrik or anyone who has seen or gotten first hand intel on the 2011 sets: Is the new minifig girls' theme more like Belville or Paradisa? Thanks a lot in advance!
-
OK - thanks a lot. After taking a closer look at the high-res pic on s@h I have to agree (before I saw it only in the catalogue). Hell of a technic tp make that shot, though. He looks really much better than in reality. Sorry for the disturbance everyone!

Was C-3PO planned to have a printing on the head too? I saw an advert of the new AT-AT and it seems that he has photoshopped printed eyes. Was it discussed / mentioned already?

That'd make it a 40€. Not too cheap there.. Thanks for the info!
