  1. You can use the paddles on the remote control and the extra output on the RC battery unit to power a M motor, and control the steering with that.
  2. I should have mentioned, I assumed we were talking about the V2 receiver due to current limitations, but those already apply to the XL motors as well don\t they?
  3. Works fine with the adaptor cable.
  4. I got mine via ebay listings which just had "lego motor" or similar in the description, or the RC cars. You just need a bit of patience, the good deals are fairly rare. I think I ended up with an average price of under 10 euros for my 6 (3 x only motor, 1 x dune buggy (tractor B model) + motor for ~20, and a RC car for ~30), all of these except the RC car were auctions.
  5. I had a m motor DOA last year, lego replaced it for me. Didn't think of checking whether the wires were lose so can't say if that was the issue :/
  6. Zblj: just was wondering how much force you have left over for payload. Lipko: We already have a lego boeing plane (10177). It just can't fly yet.
  7. I'll trade a unopened 8053, 9397, and a 8258 which still has all bags sealed but box open for a used UCS star destroyer in good shape. :D US ebay shows a bunch of listings going for 500-600$, which sounds about right, but I am open for negotiation. Shipping would be a pain since I'm in germany, and I havn't checked UK ebay.
  8. This is exactly the type of crane I meant with my comment in the other thread, but my attempts at building something like this never looked nearly as good. The main thing I notice is the wheels spacing looks a bit unusual, from the linked image this probably has to due with the pivot points of the wheels; but I would prefer slightly closer spacing.
  9. Have you run through the physics, whether the maximum possible lift which can be generated by the motor + rotors is larger than their weight?
  10. Ebay prices are very seasonal, they go down before christmas because lots of people are trying to get some extra money, go way up after christmas because people are spending their chrsitmas money, etc. I havn't noticed a large scale trend in the last 2 years I have been paying attention.
  11. Not resolving in germany either, but this seems to happen every couple of weeks.
  12. My main source of extra parts was used 8285s, with patience I have picked up 3 or 4 for an average of 60-70 euros each. I have also seen a bunch of 1:10 ferraris (8386) sell for under 15 euros, but with shipping its still ~20, and the set doesn't have that great a variety of parts. Cheap unimogs are also a good deal or new parts, although I find it difficult to mix the orange parts with other colors.
  13. Saw it in cologne back in november, its huge. Also, its a strange coincidence that this thread was bumped today, because someone has one on ebay right now: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Lego-Technic-Bagger-Backhoe-Loader-Traktor-Unikat-Einzelstuck-Full-RC-/110996467483?pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrdKind_Spielzeug_Lego&hash=item19d7e7af1b
  14. The last mobile crane wasn't that great, compared to 8421. This one might be though. I don't mind it being yet another crane, although a different color would be nice, or a truely gigantic one with 5 x unimog wheels.
  15. The logging truck? I wasn't expecting that either, I'm not sure if it was a mistake or not. The price on the shelves was not marked down, but they had a couple of the sets in the post christmas sale area with 60 euro stickers on em, and I couldn't resist picking one up. Almost forgot, also bought a used 8288 off ebay for ~60 which was the last thing on my (technic) wishlist. Now I just need to buy more shelves for the 2013 models.
  16. My local Marktkauf in germany has the xwing for 50 euros, tie fighter for 30, millenium falcon for 80, and 9396 technic helicoptor for 60. Havn't found any other stores with stuff on sale.
  17. Bought myself a second helicoptor and the logging truck for 60 euros at a post christmas sale (The only store to actually have discounts was a supermarket with a small toy section, but if that means I can pickup food and technic at once I'll deal with it) 2013 sets are all listed as feb. release here in germany, so no luck with any of those yet.
  18. Sorry, computer has been acting up. I used the PF cable, its the only one I am aware of. What you say is what I meant, the converter cable only powers the 9V bus of the PF stuff and not the signals.
  19. If the urukhai aren't all gone, I would be interested in 5 of those and a quinjet. With old technic, are we talking about pre studless or just older studless?
  20. In case someone was wondering, I just tried connecting a PF servo motor to the extra output of a old RC unit hoping for a more powerful steering output, because at least my unit can't turn the hot flame's wheels when standing still, but this does not work. Presumably the servo motor decodes some PF signals and just runs on the 9V PF bus.
  21. If the rechargable box were half the price, I would have gotten one long ago, but 70 euros for the box + 25 for the charger is alot of rechargable AA / AAAs, and I'd rather get a second flagship set for ~130 than a battery box for 95.
  22. Thanks. Right now I'm just missing 8288 for my wishlist, although I still occasionally look for a cheap 8868, space shuttle, and the ferrari 599. I skipped picking a 8288 up on clearence for a second red excavator for the new treads and LAs a couple of years back and it still annoys me. Haha. I havn't even had time to build them yet, picked up 2 red ones (1:8, the second one for parts since it was really cheap), a silver one and a blue one over the last couple of months for cheap on ebay, took everything except the silver one apart, but still need to get rid of the peeling stickers and clean the pieces. I probably have way more parts than I will ever need, but its very hard to pass up really good deals. (... german ebay, some of you probably would kill for the things I end up not bidding on like unopened 8466s for <150, used complete 8455s for <50, etc ...)
  23. Sorry about the bad quality, my camera doesn't take good indoor pictures. Alot of what is on my desk is waiting to be cleaned and then either built or dumped into general parts pile, finally got a RC buggy today so I want to try and build something with that. I'm also running out of room for new models. Going to replace an excavator with a bulldozer, and need to figure out what to do with the F1/silver sensation cars, they are too wide for the shelves
  24. Gonna try that next week once I figure out the equivalent german brand. Any ideas on removing the peeling stickers?
  25. Here are the instructions for one of the RC buggies, you can see how huge the battery/steering unit is. http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4181789.pdf
