  1. I don't see the point of the auctionsniping, if I know I'm willing to pay up to X$, I just bid that once I see the auction, and either the guys using those tools are willing to pay >X or not.
  2. I always assumed the B model uses two of them.
  3. All I found was 14mm as well, which is why I ordered the 14mm sized marbles. However with tolerances that may cause issues in tight locations, so I was hoping someone would take a look at the different rails I built to make sure the normal balls wouldn't slip through or fall off due to their slightly uneven surface with the embedded seams. E: for example I have the two tall wing pieces (so 2x4 with slanted cutout). If I offset them by one stud, some of my marbles fit through while others do not. It would be good to know whether the real balls would get stuck there.
  4. DrJB: I'm not really planning on copying any existing modules, instead I'm just going to take forever to build something of my own. I don't care about dents under drops either, I just think it will take a very large number of drops until the pieces are so broken they have to be replaced. I was hoping someone could check whether the real lego balls would fit in a similar way in the rails I set up, and also would not be blocked by the train grate thingy, to ensure the size matches well. If that is the case I can start with a simple circuit with some kind of pump, and continue from there.
  5. I didn't get a preview set, had to buy mine, but I bought it the first day it was on lego shop@home (DE), which was almost a month before the official release date. Maybe they changed it sometime later.
  6. Not the best, but also not bad. Used 8109 for 50 euros shipped.
  7. I'm not worried about using the marbles with other people's modules, I want to be sure the dimensions match well enough that if I design my modules to work with this size "official" balls won't get stuck. I also can't imagine wear due to the balls being a problem, the wear should be due to permanent movement of the modules by the motorized functions, compared to that a couple of grams of marble won't matter.
  8. Ya I meant two 32L axles, I always mix those two sizes up.
  9. My set came with 2 16L axles and I only needed one for the crane itself.
  10. The marbles I ordered arrived yesterday, I've now been trying out various types of rails. Can someone confirm these all would work with the normal GBC balls/beads as well?
  11. I'm planning on building a few modules once work quiets down, but will be using 14mm glass marbles instead since I can get them quite cheaply (4 euros per 100). I'm hoping the mechanics will remain mostly compatible. I also will probably end up integrating some custom electronics since that's another topic that I'm interested in.
  12. Not just the 1/2 bushings, when I rebuilt the spaceshuttle I bought some of the normal bushings disintegrated, and even several of the axle joiners fell apart. I don't think a single 1/2 bushing wasn't cracked.
  13. I'm thinking about ordering a couple hundred 14mm marbles, they are the same size so ignoring the weight issues the layouts should be similar. And its a lot cheaper, 4 euros for 100 marbles. I'm hoping that I just will need to reduce the gearing some in order for this to work. First thing I want to do is build some sort of vertical screw.
  14. But is it indestructible?
  15. That was actually one of my better deals, picked one up for 40 shipped. Unfortunately every last 1/2 bushing is cracked, a lot of the normal ones are as well, as well as a few of the axle joiners.
  16. sounds like you have one of the tan gears on the wrong side of the axle in the sliding rod setup. (Either the one in the body or the ones at the end of the 16 axles, both would result in this effect)
  17. So you can put it on top of a technic plate and allow it to still rotate if you want ;)
  18. My 10 yellow pulley wheels arrived today, gonna try using those instead of or in addition to the default grey ones. (And the 50 red sliding gears... :D )
  19. Lego direct has the orange ball for 76 eurocents. Still not cheap.
  20. Tow truck is also missing at least one fuel tank cap.
  21. That would be over 200 per lego store, I thought the 4k was the stores + online.
  22. When I build large sets I just use the beams to wall off the sides of my coffee table, and dump all the other parts inside. Made building the imperial shuttle and SSD take a while because my table wasn't large enough to spread out the pieces.
  23. If that's true, assuming NA also gets 4k, where do all the rest go?
  24. I'm surprised people are already buying the set or 2x MSRP, since it was available for most of a week. I would have thought anyone who had that much money would just have gone and ordered it. My box is slightly damaged, no holes but a small part of the printed area was torn off. Not gonna do anything about it, not worth the hassle.
