Pardon me asking, but what do you mean by a SHIP? Might this be something special or is it just a ship?

YES GOOD IDEA LISTEN TO HIM

PF is good for modelling seam engines because you can power it realistically (through the drivers) and can pull a lot more. The batteries and motors take up a lot of interior room, though. 9v is good because you do not have to worry about batteries and can make detailed interiors. Due to its discontinuation in 2008-9 (correct me if I'm wrong), it has gotten more and more expensive to buy parts for.

That's an awesome layout! BTW how did you get the GoPro to attach? -

That was a speedy reply. Sounds like a good idea. What are the rails you are getting?

Do tell...

Use PF motors geared to the wheels, not the train motor. If stuck on how to add, try browsing the Flickr Train MOC Pool or the sister group, the Flickr Train Ideas Pool for inspiration

7740 Inter City Passenger Train - In real life?
detjensrobert replied to stu808's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Oh, that makes more sense, although 7725 looks a little short for that. -
7740 Inter City Passenger Train - In real life?
detjensrobert replied to stu808's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The TEE looks like the closest. I can't see any connection between 7740 and the Pacers. -
The printed ones (Enlighten, I assume?) look better than the plain ones. The frame and curtains will help fill out the space.

[Moc] Some Train mocs before a short break [pic intensive]
detjensrobert replied to ScotNick's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Interesting wheel technique for the smaller driving wheels. Do they work or are they just placeholders? -
Looks cool, but those 4x3 windows look way too big and oversized for the train. Maybe use the 2x2 windows like the Super Chief?

9v rails (from what I've heard) are supposed to be self-cleaning.

Depending on the printer you use, 3D printing can be very inaccurate and would not interface well with the lego track.

Thanks Pbp, Sava. I guess that I have just not heard of them until now. On a different note, it looks awesome! (can't wait for the stickers) -
Yea, but it would be hard to keep the continuity across the middle.

What are the double tenders for? Is that a British / European thing or have I just not seen any in the US? -
Love the ballast.

Power Function trains run on either the plastic or metal rails. (battery powered) 9v trains need the metal rails to run. (powered by the rails) Hope this helps!
