If you want to be nitpicky, then yea, it's not a replica, but it's close enough that for most all intents and purposes, it is a replica.

Nice job integrating the 9v motors into the trailing truck and tender.
-
Does your motor block have shiny wheels? If so, you have the 9v system, which is not compatible for the most part with the IR Power Functions system. You would need the battery box, train motor, IR receiver, and IR train remote if you want to use PF. 9v is perfectly capable, though you may need a few motors for bigger trains. Train Station as a Modular Building?

I mean with the station on top at street level and the tracks underground (I'm assuming that's what you mean), how would that fit? -

....like with a motorless 9v motor? -
They turned out well. I now see that the small windows would have been too small. The curtained windows look better, although they do stand out just a little bit.

Looks good! TIP: for future reference, dont use the eurobricks uploader use a photo sharing site such as flickr to host images and then deeplink them into your post.

You only need the motor, bat box, receiver, ect in one of the locos, usually the front one. The back one is just a dummy.

Welcome to Eurobricks, GSD Jerrys! Not sure if we can give any advice with no pictures tho.
-
From what I hear, it is somewhere in between on both counts.

The IR signal cannot travel through the tunnel walls and thus the train cannot receive signals to change its speed. So, yes, it is a matter of line of sight.

Holy COW that's huge! How did you manage to get the 4-axle bogies to work?

They almost look like K'NEX bricks (linky) but I don't think they come in grey. Not 100% sure tho.

PF Battery Box or PF Rechargeable Battery Box
detjensrobert replied to legotrainfan's topic in LEGO Train Tech
If you are going down the rechargebles path, I suggest not using Ni-Cad and use Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. They have a better energy density and are usually smaller than the older NiCd or NiMH batteries. (please, correct me if I'm wrong here.)
