  1. WTF? How do you figure we're "involved"? You GAVE ME THEIR TWO NAMES. Because you did that (and I had no idea you did not tell them names), I contacted each to just say hi and let them know I had indeed received a code piece. That's all. Exactly. As others said, this is crap. Counterclaim BY DEFINITION means there has to already BE a claim. So no, don't expect any counterclaims out of the blue. Sorry I didn't LIVE in mafia land over the weekend. I missed the entire discussion and just now read through it all. You provided the entire PM chain between us in public now, so people can read for themselves what I said. Yup, beat me to it. Maybe Paul IS scum and I gave him the idea? Dunno. I only know I'm not. Or maybe he's town and I gave him the idea to watch for scum targeting Clem with anything - their own watcher, a killer, rolecop, whatever. Or maybe just A WATCHER WATCHING CLEM WAS A GOOD IDEA SO TWO PEOPLE BOTH HAD IT. Now, to clarify on the PM from Zipzop thing. I have no idea why he chose who he did. None. Frankly, I don't think any of us was a good choice and spreading it to SIX people is even less good (and I still don't get how that was supposed to work...). Here's the PMs I got from him: First: Hi, I have given Seamus and Bock part of a code in case I get killed tonight. Make sure my concerns are raised to the right persons. I should also have mentioned this more clearly in the day thread: Concerns that need to be raised: -"Tracker" claimed after I called them out. -"Tracker" asked to get in contact if anyone else contacted me. -"X (subject of "tracker"s result)" claimed to have been contacted by the same person after I mentioned the claim in the day thread, even though there is no possible way X could know who contacted me. -X was fishing for the name of the tracker, and gave me a hint that was wrong (and I confused some roles for a while, thinking X had the right person). Then, I replied with "hope we both survive the night to discuss in public tomorrow" and he sent me (5 hours after the initial PM) "Agreed. And I am glad I woke up in the middle of the night over here. Here is your part of the code: The highest number is the tracker." I finally remember what pinged me from the vote analysis. I re-read Minga's summary: 6 votes for Clementine Lister (Lind Whisperer): (Chromeknight, Sir Stig, Xenophobic Monoxide, Lazychicken, Lady K, Dragonfire That's the day 1 votes. Is there any chance that NO scum would have been on the Clem wagon, unless Clem IS scum? Nope. So out of Clem, Zipzop, and Minga, there is a scum. All three have been subjects of massive discussion. I still lean town on Clem because fake-claiming backup seems too audacious. And Minga seems to be actually helpful in trying to assemble a town block AND keep people quiet. So: Vote: Zipzop Beetlejuice (Sir Stig)
  2. Frankly, all this fighting has put Seamus, Clem, and Minga as all slightly town-leaning in my book. See my rules of mafia - fights are almost always between townies. Scum avoid them. So, a slight town-read. Something was pinging me earlier this morning about the vote records, but I've lost it. I'll have to go look again and come up with what it was.
  3. Apparently it actually DID pay off since no killers tried to kill her, probably assuming she'd BE protected. So, what are you trying to say about me? That I'm the vig? SK? Scum? Or are you just pointing vague fingers around? Hm. At this point we only have your own word that you're loyal. You could be scum trying to get the real investigator to out themselves - at this point (with 7 town dead) the scum would gladly trade a goon for the investigator. So, investigator, I'd assume you've checked TWO people now with two nights. You need to have the second person ALSO out themselves as cleared and verify Minga's claim. Or if you found a scummo, we need to know that too.
  4. It appears that that's never been removed :)
  5. And that punishes all of us, not them!
  6. Dude, buy some lights so you can take your photos in the middle of the night to get us the day conclusion we demand!
  7. I'm really struggling to grasp someone claiming a PR to Zip. Just doesn't compute. Zip, be very very wary of this person!
  8. You are correct, Clementine. For that reason, I award you a Cyborgian Good Grammar medal, and I apologize to Seamus for objecting to his awarding of you.
  9. Now, the moment you all (or at least Seamus) have been waiting for... my analysis of Claw. Claw spoke 13 times on day 1. They were: Fluff Fluff Fluff A gentle accusation of both Wen and Clem - funny how they became the focus of the day.... almost like Claw was part of a team pushing for them..... Fluff (x4) A vote for Clem, on the basis that Clem's lynch would provide more info than a lynch of a flailing noob. Some explanations to clem about various things. More fluff More fluff A strangely out of place defense of Vasquez to Clem On day 2, Claw has said: Speculation on Minga/Ender, almost like it was expecting discussion of them to take over day 2 the way Wen/Clem did day 1 A massive repeat of all Ender's posts, without really analyzing anything Criticizing Clem for her claim fluff Criticizing Clem again fluff vote analysis fluff fluff Talking about its gut fluff More gut talk fluff a bit of defense of itself, now that votes are building And then 6 more fluff posts rather than any defense or useful talk. Now, I'm not against some fluff. I'm not saying that every single post has to be in-depth research into other players' motivations. But Claw has managed to post a fair bit - actually the 3rd most prolific poster, after Seamus and Clementine - without saying much of anything at all. The only accusations have been of a proven townie and someone strongly suspected of being town. I will grant that I'm looking at Claw right now with particularly hostile eyes, since Claw has many votes and is a likely lynch. Claw's posts have been fluffy and information-less. Its suspicions of Wen/Clem and Minga could be legitimate townie scumhunting, but they also are never followed up on or given any real effort. While there is not a mountain of damning evidence, there's also not anything making me want to deliberately vote elsewhere like I did yesterday. Vote: Claw (TheLazyChicken)
  10. According to the teachers I had back in my human days, yes, order matters. I also agree that both errors you provide are horribly annoying. It is good for people (not just midwesterners, since people everywhere do it) that I am a cyborg and not a terminator, or many of them would die.
  11. 1. I've gotten my thoughts on day 1 together; looking at day 2 now. 2. Agreed - I wasn't poking for inappropriate info in my request. I too don't see why anyone would be claiming to a new guy. 3. Correction - SOME midwesterners speak wrongly, as do people of other areas. Midwesterners who paid attention in school would say Hinckley and I - or Seamus and I, as the case may be - and so therefore, you were not correct in praising Clem's grammar. She may have used I, but she still had the order wrong.
  12. What, you think it's wrong to say "hinckley and I have already stated"? That's how I was taught to speak, putting the other person first...
  13. Agreed - I'd love to get some more info on that, if it's appropriate to share your suspicions with the crowd. And Seamus, I didn't miss your reminder about me checking into Claw's posts. It's been a few hours, but those few hours have been busy with other things. My thoughts are still coming before the end of the day.
  14. I had to go back a couple of posts to find it, but you're right, I did use the wrong "its". Now I want to vote for myself because that sucks so bad. I am a cyborg grammar nazi; I do not make that sort of error. I even use semi-colons properly.
  15. Oooh, look, Seamus is defending a scumbuddy and explaining for them < / sarcasm> Or is that just an argument used against me?
  16. Not defending Harriet at all, I have no knowledge of her allegiances. My complaint was that your case on her was weak. But you explained yourself well and logically, so I'll Unvote: Bock (bob) I'm still not sure on this line building on Claw. I'll go re-read it's posts and see before I make a final decision on joining in or not.
  17. Or people can change votes, you know.... I mean, take my vote on Bock for example. Yep, I'm 100% willing to lynch him if others join me. But I recognize it's not a rock-solid case (though I calculate it's as solid as any case ANYONE can make on someone right now) so if something better comes along, or if someone needs another vote to get a lynch, I'm willing to switch.
  18. Time for me to actually weigh in on things. Let's take a look at Bock. He's currently ranked 14th in total posting. That's barely showing up here! On day one, his 6 posts were: Fluff Fluff Fluff about fluffiness Fluff threat to vote for Doc Wen An actual vote for Doc Wen, with the justification being simply that Doc was "fishy and suspicious" - not exactly a solid case there, nor any effort at all really. And that vote was #4 on Wen, right after the first 3 votes were immediately placed on him. That's a decent place for scum to hide in the voting, especially with how much everyone expected the votes to be nearly unanimous. Today, he's made wow, 2 whole posts. Very short post yelling at Clem for claiming and how that ruined town's chances to hunt scum sort of building a case against Harriet and voting her - complaining that Harriet the new girl was not intense enough in accusations and therefore scummy. Both of those are safe, pretty meaningless posts. Nice places for scum to hide while making non-threatening and non-pinging posts. So I'm going to Vote: Bock Pathos (bob) because you're either scum or really lazy town and therefore not helping us. And as a bonus, if you're gone it'd be nice because you're a pain to search the day threads for because you've hosted a ton of games and so your name is in everyone's sigs over and over and over. So I don't want to ever have to search for your posts again.
  19. The following has been edited down to the relevant points I'm responding to: Oh, you mean take a position like I did in these two quotes I found in just seconds of looking: How is that NOT taking a position on her? No, I'm not 100% on her, but how could I be? And if I was leaning scum, I'd throw a vote down. I'm not, so I didn't vote for her. No, an easy day 1 vote would have been to join one of the two bandwagons. But wait, one turned out to be town, just like I said I thought it would, and the other is now claiming a role. And yes, my vote on Hannah was a bit of a throwaway vote because I was NOT going to vote Wen or Clem and since it was very obvious one of them was getting lynched, putting a ton of effort into something else was not worth the time on day 1. And sorry, but all the discussion about Clem's claim has taken my time today. I'm still watching Hannah since she's still so quiet, but so are a TON of you people. So that alone isn't doing a whole lot. Maybe I'll vote for her, maybe I won't today. There's still plenty of time for me to build a case on someone. And I will, now that I'm done discussing Clem for now and ready to move on to other people.
  20. Looks like Major Dave is catching up as we speak... so I suggest he speaks before more votes get thrown at him...
  21. But what are the odds that the SK would kill the person you're supposed to protect? Less than 10%, so you'd have good shot at being safe. Just saying... Ah, but in that case I was pushing people to actually do it, not thinking out loud about how something could possibly work and then blatantly saying NOT to do it because it's a bad idea.
  22. No, I was stating it differently since you apparently didn't understand the first time. And I NEVER SAID TO LIE. In fact, in the post you quoted I specifically said NOT to lie. I meant that IF people were going to claim (again, I say not to!) then some of our legitimate vanillas would need to claim vanilla to Clem as well, so that when both PRs and vanillas tell OTHER PEOPLE that they claimed to clem it doesn't give away who the PRs are. But again, this is a bad idea that I do not recommend. I was originally making a hypothetical and apparently made the mistake of trying to clarify. Neither time did I want people to do it. Personally I'm leaning town on Clem but not enough to claim anything (PR, pranks, vanilla, anything!) to her. Ditto for you - I'm leaning town on you, but I'm not claiming anything to you either.
  23. I agree that defending Clem tonight makes sense, as long as the protector doesn't know for certain any other PRs. Which I'd be amazed if they did, since it's only day 2. However, I disagree that it would be too complicated or risky of a scum ploy. It's a weird role, so easy to make up the details (ie only a backup for certain PRs, not all of them, etc) to fit your needs. Also, how would it get caught? For a lie to get caught, first a PR has to die WHILE BEING KNOWN by others, and then at least another day to pass to check Clem's night actions to see if she does whatever that role was. And some roles are impossible to test - let's say there was a full-blown town block coordinating things and the protector dies. And for arguments' sake here, Clem's in the block and actually scum. So she's assigned to protect Player X - the scum just don't kill player X that night! And ta da, she's not caught! Or if the vig dies and she becomes vig, she has the scum killer kill whoever the block chooses, and then we're mysteriously missing a kill but her assigned person is indeed dead, so there's explanations. TL;DR: I don't think backup would be a terrible choice of fake role for a scum to claim. Go check your math - both Paul and Dave posted 3 times in day 1. Dave's posted zero today, while Paul did at least stop in once. But yes, both are WAY too quiet.
  24. 4 of 2 would like to do some analysis of Clementine's focus on Seamus potentially being the godfather, since it's been such a big part of the discussion for 2 days.... First, all roles are completely random. That means initially, there was a 5.2632% chance that Seamus was the godfather. The same odds as anyone else. Although since presumably Clem would know that she isn't the godfather (again, thinking through things from her viewpoint and assuming that she's town) then the odds of Seamus being godfather was slightly higher at 5.5556%. Coming into day 2, with 3 townies gone, the odds shifted to 6.6667%. Still low. So from a strictly odds standpoint. Clem's concern about Seamus being the godfather seems obsessive and illogical. However, if we go back to her very early posts: ... she wasn't claiming it was a logical concern, she was looking (if I'm understanding her right) at a worst-case scenario and then (in my opinion) being overly worried about it. Yes, Seamus as godfather would be a very tough scum team to beat. However, as I stated above, that's a low chance. Clem, if you have any basis to actually SUSPECT Seamus, please bring it out to us for analysis. I think you're just worried in your gut as you humans do (side note: I'm SO glad that my gut was removed as part of my cyborgization!) and it's time to move on. No one is saying you have to trust Seamus. But constantly acting AS IF HE IS the godfather with no basis is preventing more logical thought. And it seems that Clem's main concern was newbies thinking Seamus was clear from an investigator (how would they know that? Except for the investigator themselves, no one knows what the investigator learned) and then claiming to him. I think we have made it pretty clear that claiming this early to anyone is foolish. Hopefully the newbies have heard that message and no one is doing night 1 claims to Seamus... or anyone else! Wait till you have solid reason to trust someone, or a desperate situation (like you're about to be lynched... if you're about to be lynched, CLAIM IN PUBLIC so we don't repeat the mistakes of Ragnarok and lose the vig in the first lynch without knowing it!), before claiming.
