Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

^ I guess that small black car chasis was spotted in the box :) -
I like the legs very much. It looks like spot on, can't wait to see them built in real. Still I can't help feeling that your scale has changed towards bigger model - are you sure your original (and fantastic) head is in proportion with these new legs? By the way that AT_ST looks great aswell. You really aim high with both models :)
-
^ Your decision certainly makes the model more genuine looking, more towards reality :) It's just my feeling that winter village is somewhat supposed to be a bit excessively decorated and it's that fact what makes it so lovely. Not that wour model wasn't lovely - it surely is! ;)
-
^ This seems fine. By the way you're still not about using older light gray plates beneath these holes? I thing that's more than great feature :)
-
Well you'r right. there is, hair thin but yes. Sometimes i'ts bigger and sometimes it's nearly imperceptible but especially with longer LBG plates around it's really there. I used these in much mor euneven greebling areas and there the better pieces were fitting sufficiently - therefore my impression that it's flawles.

Stunning creation, although the face isn't particularly 'pretty' :) Making portraits like whit with so intricate techniquest and part usages is a masters I don't even fully comprehend :)
-
Great build but is't it to much 'town like' for a Winter Willage? Two big street buildings beside small cabin-like houses... I think it is a bit out of place. If this contest was just about winter themed models, I'd give this nothing but thumbs up.
-
Although it's interetsing idea to make the building on the boat, I don't like how it looks together... it just looks like a house cut in a half and gluesticked on some neglected boat base :) On big contrary, once opened the shop looks very nice and the interior is great too! For me, the attempt with the ship wasn't beneficial. But who knows, others might appreciate the origonal idea better :)

Very nice and original! Made me want these yeti figures, since I now know how nice they are :D

I don't think it's noticeably oversized - on contrary I really like the size, being full complete building while remaining quite compact. It's interesting idea to make it double sided so one can change the appearence just by turning the model around. I personally prefer the dark red 1891 store. Regarding interior, it's no big deal there which is a bit shame. Some of these details are nice but the fact that both sections are just very narrow is very limiting. Also the sections under the roof seem a bit neglected, especially on the wider side, where there is just the bottom side of the 'snow' above minifigs heads :D
-
Been a while since I saw this Hogwarts roof piece used in MOC :) It looks really nice here and whole model looks great. I think though that you could have included more christmas decorations or at least some pieces in different colors - whole thing looks a bit sad from outside with just three major colors, none of which is really a 'happy color' :)

Hard to imagine these adorable huskies could harm the man :D This would have need some wolfs better. And what kind of tree is that to keek the green leafage in sucg deep winter? :D Otherwise it's interesting idea and the landscape is well executed. I don't think I like it better than some more conventional bulding based entries that would (in my opinion) better expand the existing series, though it's definitely a high quality model, especially for the first MOC of yours!
-
This 'bow' like plan seems to be popular for WV buldings this year. Well it definitely works great for this one. I like how the roof is executed on the back side to reveal the most of the interior while remaining pleasantly designed. Good luck in the contest!

Well this is rather nice! From outside it feels pleasantly matching the existing WV buildings and the colorscheme is original enough to stand out. I really like that model railway inside :) Great little detail. I'm sorry for you being late to the contest, still you have a great MOC to share :)

Thanks and happy New Year to all Brickvill..ains? :D

^I use both of these components a lot on my mocs and I found that these binoculasŕs differ batch by batch. Some of them fit nicely on stud and can be placed like this. Some tend to fall off easily and can't compress enough, making the top line of bricks impossible to squeze on. Since that I always order tons of those with my orders so I can select the good ones wherever I need them,

You are right but then what would you suggest as 'more specific' print? Whole Kylo Ren is quite non specific character, besides from hos helmet and sword... full black, regular shaped leather-like armor, decent belt... Nothing stands out to be remembered and instantly recognised.

Great work! I think you changed my oppinion about this shuttle in general, also the use of dark grey looks fine on your MOC... It really seems that it's the quality and impression from detail what matters, not 100% color accuracy. I blame disney for making so many last minute changes on this vessel... although most of them were actually beneficial, contributing to better look. I honeslty don't recall the inwards swing-down movement from the short scenes so I'm perfectly happy with this retraction :) Oh and I'd also call for more pictures (I guess there is no flight mode though, is it?) from different angles.

Fantastic job. I really get this 'movie excitement' feeling when looking on your MOCs!

^ I always take the oportunity to sound celever :D Good luck and next year hopefully I finally throw something from myself in.

Well, whole building makes the impression of comic painting rather that rendition of some real buidling. I appreciate your inventiv use of ship hull piece for the roof, yet I'm not sure whether it contributes to the look in a positive way. The whole snow cap on the top ironically looks a bit to much as some vintage 'cap' Also the small sloped 'roof sections' on the side being amde just by classic 45° slopes are a bit neglected representation of roof covered by snow (no overhangs, no icicles). Next, while the cofee serving section is greatly placed cornerwise, it seems somewhat unfinished with those excessively simple tall 'windows' and arch on the front. Don't get me wrong here - it's very nice model! (I'd struggle finishing something as good as this one, that's also why I passed my participation in contest ) But certain elements (coffee can, and that green deco above, coffee machine, bike...) would classify it into 'absolute top' category, while the rest is just 'good' if you know what I mean .

Looks good. When I suggested changes on the cockpit side, I was actually adressing different part, not the top cover. What I thought is to bulky was the 'side panel' connecting back of the cockpit with the side of the hull. Being 7 studs wide, that part really feels to 'high', which is espedially striking on the pictures of the right side. I'd pesonally try to reduce that panel by one stud (in vertical sense) so it better matches the cockpit contour as well as the thickness of the ship in general. Regarding the top corridor cover, that one looked alright even with these rounded slopes on top, yet I have to admit I like this stud version even more :)
-
Still I'd consider complete rework of that section. What about something like this: This makes up for fairly round, and pleasantly thick 'hatch' which even has some colorscheme to it and is perfectly sized for your porposes. Could certainly be even more fine tuned, I put this together in LDD fast just to show what I had on mind :)

Yay, wonderful! I could only imagine some stickers to improve the look, as for brick construction, you nailed it!

Very good mod. Looking at it, I almost desire to own one of these, which certainly wasn't the case of the lego set :D- 7 replies
