  1. I disagree: Akiyuki's model is much more refined and pleasing to the eye. Philo's model is very effective, but I don't think he focused much on design.
  2. I'll be showing this car at an expo in France at the end of the month. It'll even have it's own custom licence plate. I'll post pictures as soon as I can.
  3. First post here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117305
  4. I can't see the defference between well integrated motors and well integrated gearboxes and such, from a technical point of view. Both require a good study of your model. And in the end, if the model is to be displayed, you won't play with the gearbox as much as you won't play with the motors. So, apart from the § factor, I really can't see your point here.
  5. I've finished building all the modules and I've found a problem with the instructions (PDF from Blackbird): on page 199, step 9, I can't see where the 1x8 tile goes. Now I'm off to time the whole thing. Gonna be fun...
  6. Depends. For a lot of parts, the Lego website is excellent as well: low shipping rates and new parts guaranteed. As for building, it largely depends on the theme and the size of the MOC. Some small-sized MOCs can be built without digital help but a large complex (mechanic or design-wise) Technic MOC certainly can't do without.
  7. Excellent work. Do you plan on making other brands of current F1 cars ?
  8. Very nice curves, much better than your previous attempt. I'm not a fan of the overly large tires though, I think the regular tires are already large enough.
  9. Akiyuki built excellent liftarms and axles sorters :
  10. Ok thanks ! I'll take 100 then, just to be sure.
  11. I have a question, before I launch myself into this madness of a build. How many balls, do you reckon, is needed in recirculation mode ? I'm about 800 parts short (mainly DBG bricks, and balls of course) at the moment, hoping to complete it for an event in May.
  12. Wouldn't this bend some parts under load ? You're forcing the frames held together by the turntable to stay together with the ball joints.
  13. Yep, interested as well. I'm planning to build this for Mennecy in May, I hope to have all the parts by then.
  14. You are putting a beam half a stud on a 3L pin, which strains the pin. That's what called an illegal build.
  15. That's an illegal build, and as Doug said, I think 2 half-bushes would be plenty. You even have the space to put three, on your design.
  16. Excellent design, every picture screams of McLaren, which is no small feat of strengh. Can't wait for the instructions, as always.
  17. Hello Efferman, Would you happen to have this rim, with a tumbler tire on it so I can see what it looks like ? Thanks in advance.
  18. Your point is defeated by 8110 and 42030, which both use standard lego colors.
  19. You call a sequential gearbox with working paddles "no functions" ?
  20. That's a very nice touch, and at the same time it's infuriating not to see the final car.
  21. Here is my setup: This was taken last summer, when I was doing the photo instructions for my LMP1 car. The drawers at the back are actually all my non-Technic parts, my Technic parts being in boxes like the ones under the lamp. But as this is all the space I've got, I must choose between Technic and non-Technic, only one at a time, sadly.
  22. I think the throughput wouldn't be sufficient for this module to be added between other regular GBC modules. Neat idea, still!
  23. Very good reviews Jim, well illustrated and all. I enjoyed reading them!
  24. I believe Maersk Blue is a different shade than medium azure or medium blue. See here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp
