[WIP] Scania Dunderbygge
Askan replied to Becs's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The functions in this MOC are very impressive and the size also of course. You wrote that it is all about mechanical accuracy for you, but it looks really great too! I would love to build this one day, however I need to find a bigger table first :) It would give you extra work, but I think it is a shame if this super MOC is not documented. Its like walking on the moon but forgetting your camera in the spaceship. Or something :) Maybe you wrote this somewhere, but how many pieces would you estimate? -
Disappointed Lego Customer Service - Order cancelled
Askan replied to m3eu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do not know for sure, but I doubt that they keep everything in a big warehouse, waiting to be sold. It could very well be that things you order are things that are planned to be shipped from the factory or even planned to be produced in the next few days. If something goes wrong with a supplier, a machine, transport, etc, that could mean delays and cancellations.- 16 replies

[WIP] Scania Dunderbygge

It is really beautiful! And really a dunderbygge :) Of course we want a video!! -
I agree. The homemade instructions like Madocas photo instruction for the Tatra, which I am building now, are giving me a very satisfying challenge. They are very detailed, but you need to be on your toes all the time, a small mistake and you will be sorry later. Speaking from my own experience :) Also you need to figure out yourself how to do the job, Madoca only shows what it should look like. For me this is very challenging. Also some old sets where the instructions weren't overly detailed. I remember that 8880 was challenging for me. I had some things that needed to be fixed in order to get it to work properly.

But if you want beauty, look at the set from the first years of technic, they are amazing. These three little friends smile at me every morning when I eat breakfast :) What I mean with this post is that maybe its more tits and a*s nowadays, but not pure beauty. I would never put a modern technic tractor, fork lift or crane in my kitchen vitrine. And for sure my wife would not have liked it.

Many of the old sets are advanced like 8880 or Air tech claw rig. But introduction of PF has also put the demands of playability and performance to a new level in my opinion. A remote controlled crawler must be able to move through terrain and a remote controlled excavator needs to be able to dig with some precision. I also have the feeling that PF could require more advanced drive train and other solutions because the PF parts need to be placed somewhere, but I could be wrong.

Short Review of Madoca's SUV
Askan replied to Leif's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sounds great! I am just about to start with Madoca's Tatra, also following his photo instructions. The SUV is on the list :) -

This is really something special and totally different. Truly a master piece and something I would like to build in the future. -
Just bought the 8098 Clone Turbo Tank. Found it for a decent price on ebay. I think it will be a nice build and make the kids happy :)

[MOD] 42008 with Power Functions
Askan replied to arachnid's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cool! I love this set as my kids gave it to me on my 40th birthday. It pulled me out of my dark ages. -
Thanks for the help. I needed to recenter the joystick as you said drakmin. It was not that easy as I had continued to build and things were not that accessible, but now I am very satisfied. I managed to pull out the axle for the second 16 teeth gear and could spin it a few degrees. Still the harpoon shoots better at birds than fish but that is ok :) And also Drakmin - thanks so much for this awesome creation Blakbird -thanks so much for the BI It's not just a beauty, it is also really fun to build. Halfway there...

I am building this wonderful model right now and have some problems with controlling the elevation of the gun. I get very small range of motion. Could someone who built this model please take a look at this video and see if it is correct or not? The mechanism kind of hits the ceiling when moving up, maybe I didnt center it correctly. Any input is appreciated :)

NMOCs You've built
Askan replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have finished Madoca's Wing body truck and will build his Tatra, just waiting for some more motors. Am building Drakmin's Rebel snowspeeder right now and have ordered parts for Klijn's McLaren. -
Hi, this is my first post. I just finished building the Wing Body Truck. I have only built official sets before and this was a great challenge to me and has taken quite long time. This MOC opened up a new door to me as I never knew Lego could be this amazing :) I have had a very hectic autumn with work and three small kids. The night hours with my Madoca truck has been kind of a life saver sometimes. Therefore, I would like to thank Madoca for designing this and for taking the time to make photo instruction. Thank you afol1969 and Blakbird for the excellent BI. I knew you all spent a lot of time and effort in doing this, so really thank you! Sorry if I forgot someone.
