I assume the buildings were for dale, unless they put laketown chase in there for display purposes. 60$ set is like 5 miniffigures in other sets, but when dealing with generic solders lego might use multipeles int he set cause it does not cost THAT much more, and if the build perhaps isnt that big, it might be more of the price left for the minifigs.

Both of wich did infact deliver on the right characters fom the movie though. Except for gandalf it was all new stuff. But yeah lowering expectations and bracing urself is indeed the best thing to do ahead of more news.

I think I might throw up if I see another set with Gandalf. Those Are already in The large erebor set, I don't see why they should be in 2 sets the same wave. The dwarves does put on their armor inside of erebor, if lego cant find a way to put those versons in that set they shouldn't put them anywhere.

Not correct, you can see games-woskshop also did alot of the elves with hoods on. In the movie you can see the elves have hoods underneath their hair, they obviously decided not to have them being worn in the movie but they do excist. Lego did it because they got provided art where the hoods were worn. As for cloaks, havent seen any of that on the rangers. only on the 2 armored ones.

This is ideal for LEGO cause the elves, orcs, and dwarves all wear uniform armor for the most part. Just like the uruk hai, wich means people can buy tonnes of them to make a good right looking army. (if the have the cash) Once you have helmets on everybody it doesent matter much that the face print is the same. Elronds sword? I think if they make a new sword it would be a generic elven sword, not Elrond specific. Lego made a huge mistake making the 2 handed sword that hasnt fit in any lego set yet, and in gold nontheless.

Nothing more exciting than 9 characters we got before, now in ragged clothing.. smaug is good, but does that that together justify 120$?

Inspiration doesen't need to directly come from soemthign specific but the set overall looks like a bad representation of the river gate scene. Well the palace guard would need a new helmet mold, and they proapby didnt have the budget for that or something, and they might want to save the elf-helmet-budget for the soldier wich appears in the most important battle. black gate as model leaves us with 5 minifigures 1 eagle and 1 warg or Beorn. But as you said lego can be weird, they might throw us a bone and include multiple of the soldiers. If a 25$ set can have 6 minifigures and 1 animal why can't a 60$ set have atleast that or more?

Well they made the army builder "based on" (inspired by) DOS, the TABA elves are not anywhere to be seen in DOS They might want to save the figures for the TABA sets, because it's not that many NEW characthers in TABA, just alot of variation of current ones, + the armored soldiers of diffferent kinds.

Those elves were in DOS tauriels crew, yes lego made the fairly wrong, but they are suppsoed to be those. I'm sure we're getting the armored elves in taba sets BECAUSE, lego already included their shields in dos set, proapbly wouldnt make those shields if they didnt intend on making the soldiers. btw the bo5a elves does not look like the armored dos elves. WE the internet proapbly wont see hobbit sets, attendees propably will. NY toy fair is 16th febriary, 20 days. lotr wave 2 was not shown to us at nuremberg.

Don't get your hopes up, you might have to wait for new york toy fair, or later for any pictures at all.

Well mportant parts in the story might influence lego choises of wich minifigures they put in. Kids will want to recreate the featured scenes and showdowns. A discussion about the 2014 sets, wich are based on TABA, will include talk about TABA plot points, tip toeing around spoilers can make the conversation abit weird and flow less. I'm not sure if you followed it, but in the lotr/hobbit 2013 thread, it was stated that there would be spoilers. I'm sorry youre getting spoiled for the movie I know that sucks when you don't want to be. ___________ btw, spoilers below:_____ For the army builder Im on the Bolg-train, The "hero" character being a bad guy hasn't happened before so it could be soemthing new and cool, his design is somewhat colorfull. And its extremely natural that they would put Dain in the set that includes the Throne of Erebor, i mean come on guys? x] You don't make a lego castle without including a King Minifigure do you?

Um, the torso of the armor is not spectacular or standoutish, it barely looks present, it's the helmet and shoulders that are prominent. The torso being printed is would be quite enough with a nice beard on it. For Bolg I think the "solution" is obvious, or it should be, he's jsut another azog/wookie type mold situation.

After watching the bit. They do have different beards, But the chest armor is not something that makes sense to mold. BUT the shoulder armor they have certainly is. So they could either make a new beard+shoulder piece, or make an shoulder piece that fits some excising beards, wich sounds like the option msot people would want, so they could mix and match for their non movie mocs etc... Thats what actor has said. But we know his armys helmets all sports mowhak-shaped tops, so It would make sense that Dain ties into that aswell!
