Wow, that's an incredible MOC. I am such a sucker for chrome. Is there a reason why we don't see (m)any official chrome parts from Lego? Do they get scuffed easily?

[MOC] Bell 47 Helicopter

Great job replicating this helicopter! I remember working on one in school - the bubble seemed so close when you sat inside.- 23 replies

Why do topics get closed?

From what I've seen the reason for closed or moved topics is usually indicated in the thread. The topic you are inquiring about is not an exception: -
[MOC] The Mistress
BusterHaus replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'll bring this back on topic: the brands you work(ed) on are considered luxury - at least in North America - and are not renowned for putting out ugly products. Yet search the Internet for any of these brand names followed by "ugly" and you'll find a whole lot of people expressing sentiments that sound a lot like "this car it's probably one of the ugliest car ever! i mean those shapes are far away from what you would like to see in real life". It doesn't prove that these cars are ugly, but rather that you can't please everyone. The Mistress is a very good MOC that happens to have a couple of "unrealistic" proportions. However, seeing as it's a fictional car that will never be built in real life, maybe we should only compare it to other Lego supercars - at which point your claim of "the ugliest car ever" goes out the window, as there are many attempts at supercars that don't reach this level of execution. You can still say voice your complaints about the proportions, design or layout, but using hyperbole almost guarantees that your opinion will be discounted. -

I don't doubt the veracity of your claim, I just wanted to know what cars you worked on. If you don't feel like listing all of them, at least name a few - maybe the ones you thought were the best. -

Now I'm curious - which car(s) did you design, or help design? And which part/component of the car do you design? -
Your review is pretty accurate. It's a great parts pack or starting point for modifications, but little else. What I noticed most about this set are the unorthodox instructions. Most Technic sets have a certain flow and style to the instructions (which you touched on in your review) but this one had a bunch of uncommon building techniques and connections that will never be used in a great MOC. I felt like learned something new from this truck, but it was in the what-to-avoid category.

Interesting concept. I'm also using a tracked platform for my enforcer but its transformation is quite different. I spent about two weeks on the tracks and they are still not to my satisfaction. Maybe it's just the difficulty this type of vehicle brings to the table. Whatever the case, don't give up yet.

Technic General Discussion

They will most likely send you a new sheet. Contact customer service and explain what happened - they are very good at keeping their customers happy. -
This is really disheartening. I can't decide which is worse: selling paid instructions or selling free instructions.

I bought the EV3 Mindstorms Home set when it was released in September 2013. I haven't used the Intelligent brick in a while and when I took it out today, I noticed what appear to be stress cracks in the plastic case, developing in three different locations. My EV3 Brick hasn't seen a lot of action, has never been taken apart, and is kept away from the sun in a climate-controlled house. EDIT: Problem solved - I called Lego Technical support and e-mailed them the pictures while on the phone. The guy I spoke with said they have not seen this before and that they will send a new brick. Lego Customer Service is awesome. There's a crack on each side of the case on the output side: (I'm not sure why the little tab is caved in.) The other cracks are located in the clear plastic that covers the screen, at the bottom center of the screen where there is a break in the gray bezel: I suspect it may have something to do with the case being screwed together too tight, as is indicated by the misaligned surfaces of the top and bottom halves, but I may be mistaken about it: Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Hmm, lots of firepower in this beast - seems like a worthy opponent. The beam cannon is awesome, and I really like the spikes that come down from the front grill.

[BMX] Jurss

Thanks. I tried the 2L pins for pedals but they make the bicycle really wide, so I skipped them. -

Great idea! I built a micro bicycle tonight: Now, more on topic: Jurss, the improvements to the original bike are great, especially the pedals. They have a very open feel to them, like real ones. Nice job! -
After reading my original message this morning, I can see how it could be misinterpreted despite my efforts to clarify it. I apologize that the message sounded as it did, it was not my intention to insult anyone. Crowkillers, you are being generous with your time, and it is your call who you want to use as a supplier. As I have stated twice now, it never crossed my mind your motivation was financial - selling 10 or 20 caps is hardly a way to make a ton of money.
-
I don't wish to dismiss your offer, Paul (Crowkillers), but I checked vistaprint tonight and their price for a single embroidered cap was $18 plus $8 for shipping (Canadian dollars). There were discounts for higher quantities. The downside is that their cap colour selection is very limited and you need to provide your own artwork (not trivial for some people). I doubt very much that you are doing this to get rich, I'm just suggesting another potential supplier you can use. Edit: clarified the last sentence as it's causing some unintended consequences.
