  1. The thing about it that I think everyone, included myself, dislikes is that that's not how faith in a religion works. You don't just meet someone, hear them talk, and say "Hey, I think I'm going to totally change religions because of this one Cleric I met one time". If it was over a longer period, that might make sense, but it isn't, so it doesn't. You might be more likely to follow someone's leadership after a single encounter...but not their faith. People that have faith in something - especially in a medieval setting like this one - had and would have very strong beliefs. They wouldn't change them because of a single encounter. The point of the Veteran classes is that(if you impress the Heroica Veterans) you're playing a heavily upgraded version of your base class. I, for example, can't be a Guardian Knight, because I started as a rogue. I could, however, play as a Rogue Thief. The chances of that changing are pretty much infinitesimal...
  2. Lind paused a moment...and nodded towards the space.
  3. I see exactly what you mean*. I didn't think about it like that, and I should have. I'm sorry. ^*Memories of a certain mega-franchise acquisition spring to mind...At least keep The Old Republic in canon, darn it! It's thousands of years before your reboots! And no, "making it canon later" is not the same thing! ...Okay, I really see what you mean...
  4. Exactly. Fair.I still like the idea behind the Dodekube...but I'm enough of a loner in real life that I don't feel like playing one in an RPG as well. And playing Lind as a crazy loner is the only way it would really function as a character trait. I guess I'm the hipster then, since that's been happening to me before it was cool. I've been thinking of having a mod change my username, I'm just not sure to what. I like Captain Bleybeard, but I'm not really active enough over in Pirates to really justify it...
  5. Seconded. A character doesn't change their faith just based on a single conversation with someone. Well, they can, but normally it takes It's a Wonderful Life levels of desperation to change your world view that quickly... Yeah, I'm trying to tame that down. It's supposed to be a funny character trait, that stays within the fourth wall...But it's either not noticeable, or it's annoying. Is occasional vague references to the Dodekube still too much, or "within reason"?
  6. I'll keep that in mind. I just thought it was kind of an interesting facet to his character and beliefs. Here you have a character that sounds completely crazy to all the "rational" people...but yet he's completely right. I don't plan on him going around and proselytizing people or anything. It's just a small background influence to his interactions with certain characters and NPCs.
  7. Try converting people to the idea that they have no actual free will, and that they're controlled by higher beings with opposable thumbs.
  8. King Guts is actually an option on the Poll . (Select Other and type King Guts).
  9. What happens if other heroes join him and his coup? I wonder what Sandy's plans are for Heroes without any rep...
  10. *Mumbles* And I misspelled on the poll too... :facepalm I've actually kind of been feeling that way about Lind, as well. The only relation he has to the city was an argument a while back about how the Wolfgang would ruin it. He hasn't really had any reason to side with Shadeaux besides "Well, I've got rec with them, and they give out dragons*.". *Although dragons are admittedly an excellent incentive to join anyone.
  11. Twenty minutes later, Ji Pei and Zeigfried Ziegfried are in the lead. I'm not going to try and call the winners until we have more than six people voting, though.
  12. Yep. It's a popular class, a popular house, and there's a lot of rep for it among active players. On the same note, just for fun, I've created a poll so we can all see which House is truly in the lead. Time to get political.
  13. Since Shadeaux will obviously have a fairly big turn out compared to most of the others, I'm assuming Sandy plans on balancing it out a little bit with NPC PCs, or something, else it wouldn't be quite fair.
  14. So, so many questions...
  15. And will it be a trio of Houses that emerge as the top houses? Or will the fight be for the top House? And if so, how does it affect heroes highly affiliated with multiple houses, like Arthur?
  16. Assuming Ulric honors his promises...I wonder what will happen to players with non-Wolfgang allegiances, if Ulric becomes King.
  17. But he has to rise, to become king, is the point. He just has the will of the people at the moment. Which is important. But the Shadeaux, Zeigfrieds, Bonapartes, and the rest all have guards, weapons, and money, e.g., they have the power. It'll be interesting to see the power struggle play out, and what Sandy will do to balance out the disparities in allegiance among the players...
  18. Gained the support =/= king. Everyone can be cheering for a rebel leader to rise...but that doesn't mean he has the power to do so, or that he is officially king, it just means that he has the favor of the people.
  19. Whatever your plans end up being, keep us informed! I want to be the first name on that sign-up sheet.
  20. Will players that are on quests still be able to participate? *crosses fingers* Be careful with that. This is a pretty big event, that Heroica's been building up to for four years. Even Lind, Mr. Loves-to-talk himself, will probably be pretty quiet, since everyone else has had a lot more experience with the Shadeaux than he has.
  21. It's okay. It's just good to finally have an update, even if it's that we need to wait some more.
  22. "Hmm..." Lind thought a moment. "The name sound familiar, but I'm afraid I'm not acquainted with the gentleman." "Cheers." Lind accepted the glass and began to sip the rich liquid. "A most excellent taste, thank you." "Hmm. I suppose I should make a journey to the library at some point, then, as I don't believe I've ever talked with M. Ziegfried."
  23. I'm just excited for the results to finally be revealed, no matter if I win or lose. (I'm also hoping we might get some news on the upcoming Clash of Houses...?)
