Darn. If I wasn't putting together a second Fields team, I'd trade you a Phoenix Essence for one of your 6s...

If I might shamelessly plug my character's backstory, what if you had Tesni off studying under the Munchkin tribe this whole time? Think "Went off to study under Tibetian Monks," just without the Tibetian monks. She could be going through that crisis while examining all the life choices she's made, looking at them through the lens of 200 years of collected philosophy. She's finally found herself again, and is ready to get back in business. Not to mention, if you ever need Ooc knowledge, it gives a great reason* why your character would have it. *(The Munchkins have spent the last 200 years basically recording every scrap of knowledge about anything they could possibly learn. They freely teach most of it, except for a few "Things that Must Not be Known".)

The rogue tipped the top of his hood to the knight. "Lind Whisperer. Pleased to meet you. And yes - most definitely interested." "Lind Whisperer, and I'd be pleased to have you on the team as well."
-
The grey-cloaked Rogue entered under the arch, muttering to himself. "Teddy bears. Two teddy bears." He paused, closed his eyes, breathed in deeply, and slowly exhaled. "Re-strategize. Reform. Replan. The way will present itself, in time." He opened his eyes, and looked across the room, at the nearly empty Quest Board, only papered by a single sheet. A sheet that simply informed any curious readers, that the Fields of Glory had once more opened. "And, the way seems to present itself." A quick stride across the room, a few strokes of the pen, and a lone name was added to the sheet, that of The Grey Foxer. Having done this, he began to look about the room, for anyone who seemed to be open for another member to join their conversation.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Lind Whisperer replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Lind, extremely pleased, slipped the coins into his pocket while quietly murmuring to himself. "Luck, chance, fate. The chaos is maddening, but it comes in waves. First, the luck of the beginner, your birth into the new world shoving and buoying you onward, until you believe you are unstoppable. Then, suddenly, you are handed off to the midwife of chance, and ducked under the waters painfully. But, after that, then you are given into the care of the scholar of fate, to create your future." He tipped his hat politely to the cheerful farmer and animals, and strode off, down the lane, back towards the smoky towers and low burghers' houses of Eubric. -
Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory

As he has...plans in mind for his points, and the rules do not let Heroes pool their points, Lind does not purchase anything. He does, however, dig around in the ground by the Prize Barrel with his shovel, in search of at least two coins, so as to make sure the generous half-giant he met at least received what he had lent, if not more. Ooc: I should currently be down to 0 gold, after buying that Beginner's Deck. Unless I dug them up just now. Also, many thanks for hosting us! -
EDIT: Never mind, I'll wait till we're all back at the Hall.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory

Knowing this would likely be his last moment of combat, Lind attacked the Dryad again. Battle Order: Lind Whisperer: Dryad, Back Row Darksten: Chesire Cat A, Back Row Ooc: I would imagine repeat until we've both fallen; if Darksten acquiesces. -
Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory

The rogue stood carefully behind the tree, aiming his last deck. He knew that this battle must eventually end in defeat, and he felt regret at the fact. His were not a people to know defeat - not since the Final Blow. But none can always know success, and even defeat can be glorious, if there is no fear, and he carefully aimed the sharp paper edges of his cards at the Dryad. Battle Order: Lind Whisperer: Dryad, Back Row Darksten: Chesire Cat A, Back Row Ooc: I was originally going to try digging, since if nothing else, I couldn't roll another Hide, and I was hoping to find at least 2 gold, to pay back Asphalt. But it just felt too much like giving up entirely, so Lind's going to wait and scrabble around in the barnyard next to the prize barrel after we finally fall and we're leaving the fields. -
Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Lind Whisperer replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Ooc: As much as I'd like to try some daring last minute plan that snatches us a dazzling victory, you make an excellent point about our health. With the sort of rolls we've been getting, spending another Phoenix Essence might very well end up being a complete waste of consumables, not to mention having the same end result as if we'd just fought to the finish. It would be a rather inglorious end to the quest, but in the interest of saving what consumables we have left, I move we follow Darksten's suggestion. It's been a good run, and I think we can feel proud of what we've done so far. QM Question: Are there any rules against using Shovels in battle? And if there aren't, would placing oneself in the battle order while using one count as enough of an action as to receive free hits? (I was originally planning on digging in the Orchard after the battle was done, with all of the stories about gold buried in Orchards*.) *Granted, the moral in all of them is to work hard and turn the soil so fruit will grow better, but still... -
...Unless someone hides it as a drop in a quest. *Gets ideas* * *

I was not trying to complain, I was pointing out that all the players with Beginners Decks were knocked out of the tournament quite quickly. It was a more than fair game, and I have no complaints. Heck, not balancing Decks was probably one of the most real-to-life moments the game's had. Again, I apologize if my comment came off as complaining. After several comments in the past I've tried very hard to not do/sound like that - clearly I need to try even harder. It was a very enjoyable(if brief) game, and I thoroughly appreciate having been allowed to participate. Again, my sincerest apologies if I gave off a different impression. I enjoy this game immensely, and extremely appreciate all the effort that goes into running it.

After going over the different cups, it's also interesting to note that all the players with Beginner's Decks were quickly eliminated. Not exactly surprising, but still worth noting. I get why it wouldn't be entirely fair to match NPC and PC deck strengths(and it would take a significant additional effort on the QM's end), but on the other hand, it begs the question of why exactly even offer Beginner's Decks, if the player is almost certain to lose... Ah, well - the more glory to the person someday who wins with nothing but a Beginner's Deck, I suppose.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Lind Whisperer replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
After accidentally tripping, not hiding, as Munchkins do not hide, Lind surveyed the battle field, and began to strategize. Ooc: Well...Hmm... We could Smoke Bomb out, again, I suppose. But I somewhat hate to give this place up for later, after having already used up so many consumables. Here's one alternate battle plan. Lind casts his Phoenix Essence on Grimwald, while Darksten drinks a second Potion. I'll definitely take some damage, but I believe I can survive it, and Grimwald will be back up to full health. For the next round, Grimwald Casts Scroll of Sleep on Bugbear Healer A. Lind attacks the Dryad, and Darksten targets Cheshire Cat A. Even if he rolls another Triple Shot, that way he won't wake up the Bugbears(Unless I'm horribly misreading how Triple Shot works). For the next round after that, Grimwald will Attack the Dryad, Darksten targets the Cat again, and Lind either collects his cards, or drinks a potion, depending on his health. Of course, it does depend on Lind not rolling any more Hides/being KO... If the rest of the party would rather to move on to a different field, though, or has a different attack strategy, please feel free to share. -
I'm picturing Boris as Wolverine as a vampire. Seriously looking forward to how he plays out. Speaking of new characters, is there anything in the rules that would prevent a player who'd reached the appropriate quest count/level, from playing a secondary character that was retired by another player, if both players agreed to it?

Ooc: I apologize I haven't posted sooner. I've had several things in my normal life require a lot more attention than usual, and I had to give them priority. Battle Order: Lind Whisperer - Dryad, Back Row Grimwald - Casts Scroll of Sleep on Bugbear B, Back Row Darksten - Drinks Potion, Back Row -

"Ah, well - win some, lose some. Scuttle off, my small friend." Lind plays and loses his Scarab (Rock 1). "A last brief flicker, before the game is done." Lind plays his Glowworm (Luminous 1). . -

[MOC/MOD] Sci-Fi Minifigure: Space Warrior
Lind Whisperer replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Quite nice! The only criticism I might have is that combining the visor and that helmet piece gives off a definitive "Star Wars" feel, but that seems to be what you're going for here. Well done. There are a couple of "official" fan-chosen lawyer-friendly names that are used for "melee weapons" like yours; "Energy Sword" is probably the most generic, covering almost all objects with a blade made of some sort of transparent laser-like substance, "Psionic Spear-Blade" for more fantasy based situations(and for shout-out cred), and finally, my personal favorite, the "Beamsaber," which is used specifically for "melee weapons" like yours(and has the added status of being named as an official weapon for Brikwars by none other than Mike Rayhawk!). -
