The black and green bow piece is from the Cross Bone Clipper. It was never one of my favorite ships from that era of Lego Pirates, so it gladly gave its life for a new life as a BoBS sloop.
-
Ditto from me: I love the classic Lego feel of this fort. And the ship is very reminiscent of the ship from the Imperial Trading Post set. Well done!

I built a middle hull piece using inverse slopes. Two rows of inverse 45s and a plate.

So if this new rule had existed a week ago, would we have been able to MOC the return of the HoE without the auction? Group ownership creates a gray area in the rules.

[ESL-MRCA: Bloody Bill takes the Heart of Eslandia]
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To those of you wanting to see Bloody Bill's ship, it's just the QAR with some dark tan plates laid down to make the main deck. I tried to keep it in the periphery of the shots since I shouldn't get any credit for it. And Bloody Bill is the CMF pirate captain from series 8. -
When will the April freebuild web form be up? The link in the Master Index thread still goes to the March form.

Captain’s Log, 6 April 616, Bastion: It pains me to report on the events April 2nd. We had completed calls on Bardo and Breshaun, and the run had been a magnificent maiden voyage for the Heart of Eslandia; it was truly a golden run! But before we reached our final port of call, Prinport, we were intercepted by ships under the command of Bloody Bill the Pirate. First, Scavenger attacked La Raenette. Our escort, Travao, interceded, but Scavenger was able to initiate a boarding action and forced Travao’s surrender. Now without escort, I ordered the flotilla to take line formation behind Heart of Eslandia. Unfortunately, Scavenger had the weather gage, and she was able to grapple with us. It was Scavenger’s second boarding action of the encounter, but my crew of merchantmen were no match for Bloody Bill’s hardened gang of sea rats. We fought as best we could, but eventually I had to surrender the vessel to save the remaining crew. La Raenette was eventually taken by Little Scavenger; only one of the ships in our flotilla got away. As I and what is left of my crew sit in a cold, dirty cell on Bastion, I can only hope that Bloody Bill’s ransom demands are met, and that we can soon return to Nova Terelli. I know the ship owners will be disappointed in the loss, but there was nothing we could have done. Perhaps the MCTC leaders will see fit to provide more escorts on future runs. These seas have become overrun with pirates. We must arm ourselves and take back the sea lanes. -Captain Cornelius Reyngout Post Script: April 12th. The ransom has been paid, but by Corrington! I am to sail the Heart of Eslandia one last time to deliver her to her new owner. Then the crew and I will make our way to Nova Terelli, where I will have to hope the MCTC is willing to give me another command.

With the demise of the class 2WR sloop Lady of Madrice in Hurricane Stepho (or was it at the hands of L’Olius in combat? Reports differ), the MCTC called up her sister ship, the class 2A Lady’s Revenge, commanded by Captain John “Jack” Merker, to active duty. Sporting six cannon and two swivel guns, she is well armed for escort duty or privateering. Unlike her sister ship, Lady's Revenge sports two cannon on the fore deck. Here Captain Merker takes the helm while his crew work the guns in anticipation of future action. What action will Captain Merker and the Lady's Revenge find this month as they sail the Sea of Storms?

April 616 - Eslandola's Escorted Trade Runs
Capt Wolf replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm currently without a ship, but the class 2A Lady's Revenge will be promoted to active duty shortly. If anyone is in need of a small escort for a bounty run or other Eslandolan trade run not listed above, let me know. -
Great period-appropriate build. Lots of good details here: the roof, the whale carcass, the palm tree, and it's all well presented. Excellent build!

House of the Scientist

Very nice! I'm currently working on a house with the same color scheme. The fence, statues, and gate are excellent! -
Auction! Bloody Bill's Booty for Sale!
Capt Wolf replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I have placed a bid to get my sniveling coward of a captain and his ship, the Heart of Eslandia, back, although I don't know if I want a captain that hands over his cargo at the mere sight of a black hanky being waved by a guy with a colorful nickname... -
I echo all the comments about the amazing trees and vegetation. Well done! But I wanted to add that I really like the detail of the ramrod for the soldier' muskets. I will steal that down the road (and as much of your vegetation techniques as I can manage).

I could have sworn I read she went down in the hurricane. If not, then I have no choice but to petition for revisionist history! -

[ESL-MRCA] Hurricane vs Sloop: Hurricane wins
Capt Wolf posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The Lady of Madrice, aka "The Wench," was sailing through the southern seas, well on her way from Granolean to Nova Terelli, when the storm hit. There was no escape as the winds grew stronger and the waves grew higher. Captain Janszen and his crew did everything they could, but visibility was zero and they lost contact with their flotilla. Eventually the storm was too much for the aged sloop, and she broke apart under the force of Hurricane Stepho. The "Wench" was no more. As the storm passed, the crew clung to the shattered remains of their ship, a few larger pieces of the hull tangled together with fallen rigging. Miraculously, all seven members of the crew, as well as the captain’s hat, were accounted for! “Pip,” said Tony, the first mate, “remember when I was reading about the storm forecast in the Kings Port Advertiser?” “Don’t remind me,” replied the captain. “And, you know, nothing ever good seems to come of you reading that paper. Isn’t that how I got myself challenged to a duel?” “No, you did that all by yourself with your saucy comments to that Corrie. And if you’d actually listened to what the paper had to say, we might not be adrift right now.” “Fine, you can tell me ‘I told you so’ if we ever make land, but not now.” Two days passed, and the little tangle of hull planking drifted north. Some of the framework of the sloop still attached to the hull jutted skyward like the ribs of a giant skeleton, and the crew were beginning to think it was a prophesy of their fate, when they finally spotted something on the horizon. “Pip, what do you make of that? North-northwest. See it?” “I see it, Tony,” replied the captain. He took out his spyglass for a better look. “Red sails, looks to be a fast cutter. And she appears to be flying Corrie colors.” “But we’ve no way to signal her.” “Luck is on our side today. She appears to be changing course. I think she’s spotted us!” To be continued, from the Corrie side... -
The smallest school in the world?
Capt Wolf replied to Fuzzy MacFuzz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Congrats on the New World's first school and library! Lady Norrington approves, obviously! -
Well, the 5T mentioned above was co-owned by at least 5 different investors each paying a portion of the license fee.
-
Yes to these two points above! Points for best non-challenge builds each month sounds like a great idea, and let's not over-legislate ship building/licensing. Common sense should be able to prevail on this latter item.
-
Either of these sounds like a reasonable approach to me. Good story material all around! FYI, original license cost for the HoE was 400db, and it has several shareholders. It also has some form of insurance. Lots of variables in play for how we owners may want to proceed, regardless of how the powers that be decide to handle the ransoming/auctioning of the ship.

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Capt Wolf replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
If you don't have pieces for the first mate, that's fine. (FYI, it's Will Turner from POTC with Shakespear's head.) I'll post a drifting scene this week, perhaps spotting the Valkyrie and realizing she's coming to our aid. You can do a spotting scene or rescue scene or both, whatever you want. I could wrap up with our arrival at Port Raleigh. That gives us a couple of builds each, and will blend well with the story I'm working on with Fuzzy MacFuzz. Does that sound ok?- 897 replies

Ah, I see it now. Thanks!
