I second this query. I'm not sure what's being discussed. Since I just lost my ship to the hurricane, I need to a license a new one. Is it ok for me to go ahead and file a free license for a new class 2 ship at this time? Also, I keep reading comments about ships greater than class 5 and upkeep costs. Are these theoretical, or is there a new ship chart I'm not seeing?

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Capt Wolf replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Actually, Janszen has business in Port Raleigh, so if you're returning there after your trade run, that's perfect. And I will amend my log to credit Captain Velvetine! (Which minifig is Velvetine?)- 897 replies

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Capt Wolf replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Sailing Captains of Corrington, Philip Janszen and crew went down in zone 11 with the Eslandolan sloop Lady of Madrice. It is my hope that some Corrington vessel on its way to Port Raleigh may have happened upon survivors adrift in the ocean. If any such captain was able to pick up the survivors, I would like to be able to give them credit when I MOC the results of this month's MRCA. Thanks in advance for any assistance from you Brethren of the Brick Seas!- 897 replies

I'm excited to see this development regarding a minifig census, as it were. One of the things I enjoy about the various MOCs in this game is the various characters beyond the sigfigs that we meet.

[ESL-FB3 March] Town Hall of Bardo
Capt Wolf replied to Sir Stig's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice detailed architecture, and landscaping! Like your textile factory, you have a flair for functionally ornate buildings. Bardo is looking good. And for a second I thought it was the Colonel in the fountain. Whew! -
Nice build and story. I like it! I'd approve if i could. And where's the snake? I don't see it.

[ESL-Ch2B] The smugglers almost get through
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I'm glad the forced perspective worked this time! The fort is designed to be part of a modular build. You see 95% of what exists in the photos. It has a 20x20 footprint and is designed to lift out of an island base (that is incomplete because of my terrible rockwork). Images #2 and #4 pretty much show the whole lower level, and the other shots show all of the upper level. I wanted to include a shot of the big fort from the front, but it didn't fit the story. Looking at the right side of image #4 shows the basic slope construction of the wall. For the ship, I was going to build just the part I needed, but I wound up using an old MOD of the Carribean Clipper (I added standard rigging and gave it a main deck) because i wasn't sure how much of the ship i would need. I just went back and cleaned up some areas, put in some tiles for the railing, and posed the minifigs. The sea is a piece of cloth with a mottled blue pattern. I use it whenever I photograph ships. And the night sky is just a piece of black cloth hung over my backdrop, which had the added benefit of creating an apparent horizon. Yeah, that was the fun part of this challenge -- telling the story from both sides at the same time. I'm glad you liked it! Thanks again to everyone for the comments! -

The sky was clear, and moonlight shined down more brightly than usual this night. The Eslandolans were on the lookout for smugglers in this area, and no Garvian smuggler would dare try to sail past Fort Estrada tonight. Or would they? Their agent had assured Captain Rene that the lookout would be down tonight. Had he come through? In the fort, since it was such a lovely night, Commandant Santiago decided to walk the ramparts. He was shocked when he discovered the lookout was not at his post. Finding the sergeant of the guard, Santiago demanded an answer. “Where is your lookout?!” The answer, they would discover later, was that he was drunk in the armory. The Garvian agent had provided the young man a bottle of an extremely potent distilled beverage earlier that day when he was in town, and when the lookout decided to sneak down to the armory for a drink, he was overcome. Meanwhile, Captain Rene sailed into the channel. “There is Fort Estrada. They should have seen us by now. It looks like our man in town has done his job!” But Commandant Santiago’s midnight stroll had changed the fortunes of the Garvian smuggler. Rousing the night guards to alert status to find the missing lookout, they also spotted Captain Rene’s ship in the moonlight. Scrambling the gun crews into action, Fort Estrada opened fire on the Garvian smuggling ship. “Take cover, and change course to return to Prinport! Our agent did not succeed! We have lost! * * * I decided to have another go at some forced perspective, and I think it turned out better than my efforts in challenge 1. I also decided to try and do some night scenes, and I was shocked at how well it went. I think some of my photos came out better than they have in normal lighting. I barely had to do any editing of the photos at all.

[ESL-CH2A] The Gun(s) of Ferro Azure
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks to everyone for the comments on this build! This one took a lot of time, but I think it paid off. Thanks! The earthwork was something that I wanted to include from the very start. After some experimentation, I found something that worked. The flanks are on their own plate, connected to the base by a single stud, and otherwise resting on tiles. the green slopes in front were necessary to hold the wall in place and create a transition in elevation between front and back. Thanks. The tree stumps were a last-minute idea, but they really completed the scene. Thank you! The vertical slant to the wall was the purpose of the build to me. I wanted to experiment with techniques that could be expanded to build the bastion to an earth and wood fort, but figured I should start small and not drive myself insane. No argument there. I need to step up my photo-editing game. I'm figuring some things out. But in this case I decided to just show off the build and not worry about the background on this one. Thanks! That it looks effortless is a great compliment, as it was anything but! I must admit it turned out better than I expected. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words. Much appreciated! This was a satisfying build when it was finally finished.- 23 replies

Excellent job on the angled log wall! The rock work looks good to me, as does the beach and foliage. I really like the idea of the furnace for the fire shot. All-around good job!

Beautiful ship! I really like that you've used studdinsails; I've been contemplating that for awhile for some of my ship builds and there are some rigging ideas that I may steal. The lines of the ship, as always in your work, are very nice indeed. I like the use of the yellow fence piece. And who knew that croissants were good for making a fleur de lis? Love it! -
(COR - Ch2B) Dastardly attack on Port Raleigh!
Capt Wolf replied to Fuzzy MacFuzz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A fine tale of adventure and heroism! You've done a great job with the story, and I think the action photos are very good. The campfire for the sleeping men, the blast of the cannon, the charge of the half-clothed marines, abduction of Lady Norrington, all well done! And my condolences to the Ravenscroft family; I trust the family will name the glassworks in his honor. -
[ESL FB3] Path of the Single Cut
Capt Wolf replied to Phadeout's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like this build a lot. Great arch and entryway, and the full interior with tiled floor is very nice. That roof is very interesting; is there a real world example it is patterned after? And I think the build fits in rather well with Eslandolan architecture; if the roof were red instead of white (and I'm not saying it should be), I don't think many would think it stands out as different. Well done! I would approve if I could. -

Good job with the terrain! I always struggle with that. The dark green works well, and good figure posing. A very good build all-around for starting a mine! -
I'm a big fan of these types of builds, illustrating stories. I especially like the second scene. Good story, good builds. Well done!

Amazing! I'm glad you can show off the interior as well. But overall, truly amazing work. I'm glad she's on our side!
