  1. I'm hoping the GBP prices translate to this: Jango, Cody and Luke £14.99; Obi-Wan £17.99 - £19.99; Vader £24.99; Grievous £29.99. Those seem about right to me, though a little disappointed that Obi-Wan could potentially have £5 added to the cheapest set price just because he has a cape... But if they just take all the US prices and just stick a pound sign on them (like they did with Queen Beast, that set is not worth £35!), I will not be happy, especially when I want 2 of each set
  2. Oh yeah, I didn't mean that sort of different Though I will admit I didn't mind the Phantoka / Mistika too much. I feel a lose-lose situation might arise, there'll be some complaints no matter what LEGO do. Didn't a couple of people even complain about the current wave and how they look different from 2001 Toa or something like that?
  3. Thanks. In fact, Jetran'Rex is a revamp of a revamp. The original MOC was actually something called Thrash Linkin', based off the album art of Linkin' Park's "Living Things", and the head was kinda reused for Mechan'Rex (so that's where the head came from). Jetran'Rex has a completely different head build, driven by the fact I wanted to incorporate light up eyes, and I agree - it's so much better than the rather hastily built Mechan'Rex (and I'm still surprised that it - out of all my BFTGM entries - won 2nd place despite the fact I thought it was one of my less good entries). The only problem I have with this MOC is one you can't see in pictures - since the battery box is mounted on the back, Jetran'Rex is VERY rear-heavy (thanks to the batteries) and falls over a lot, that's why he has a rudder-like tail, to keep him upright. Hence why I avoided putting him in more adventurous poses... Someone actually said to me on Flickr that Jetran'Rex looked a lot like a Brute from Halo - now I can't unsee that because he does look a bit like one... EDIT: Just noticed the sonic speakers in the photos are misaligned, they're supposed to be lined up
  4. I'm glad to see my fears about the jetpack being one big mould or even missing were unfounded - but I still can't help feeling underwhelmed by it I am absolutely delighted by the inclusion of sand blue, but really, it could use more than just 2 shells (those 6M shells on his upper legs are silver, right? The lighting in the video isn't the best, I'm struggling to make out the colours. The 6M's could be sand blue or silver...). I don't think Jango was 85% silver in the film... Jango is better than Luke, but to me, the best bit about Jango is the delicious recolours, he seems to fall a little bit short of the other figures for me in terms of design. Maybe my opinion will change once I've got my hands on all 6. All I know is I'm going to need to buy 2 of each, one for the set, one for the parts
  5. Jetran'Rex, Steel Mercenary by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The brutal warrior brother of the Guardian Mechan'Rex, Jetran'Rex is a master of aerial axe combat with glowing red eyes that strike fear into his enemies and a super-powerful jetpack which enables him to fly despite his heavy steel forged armour. He is a Master of Sonics, Metal and Air and fights only to defend his family and retrieve the Golden Masks for his greedy collector father, taking on any Toa, Skull Villain or even Makuta who stands in his way. This MOC, a heavily modified "evolution" of Mechan'Rex, the award winning BFTGM entry, was made for BZPower's Flickr contest and incorporates Power Functions in the form of light-up eyes. The battery box is mounted on his back where it forms the bulk of the jetpack. It is 100% purist. Pushing the dark bley levers at the bottom pops the wings on the jetpack up. Front view: Jetran'Rex, Steel Mercenary by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Back view: Jetran'Rex, Steel Mercenary by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I hope you enjoyed looking at this MOC, which despite it being created from my BFTGM entry, still took 3 days to build . Comments are welcome.
  6. Tesco stores are having a rather random 50-75% off clearance sale on some sets at the moment. Not all are marked as such but if you see a set and don't see the label for it, take it to the price checker - it might be massively reduced. So far I've found: 75033 Star Destroyer £2.25 70400 Forest Ambush £2 70210 CHI Vardy £2.75 70229 Lion Tribe Pack £2 70231 Croc Tribe Pack £2 41073 Naida's Epic Adventure Ship £12.50 Various Hero Factory sets £2.25 each (unfortunately I missed out on these so I can't tell exactly which ones were at that price) 75032 X-Wing Fighter £4.50 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers £6 Your mileage may vary and god luck finding them - this list is a combination of reductions I found in 4 different branches of superstores and Extras, not all branches have the same pricing
  7. I noticed a mistake in the Grievous high-res render. One of the ball cups isn't correctly connected into his right foot Cody looks excellent. I wonder if the visor on the helmet is removable? If so - it'd be pretty good if you had the desire to make an army of generic constraction Phase II Clone Troopers (if you can bear to scrub the printed orange off some of the shells with magic eraser of course ). White 4M shells also come in Obi-Wan, don't forget (and I am glad to see them finally being made). As for the legs - I don't know, I guess it wouldn't hurt to mod in Obi's / Luke's lower leg build for Cody. Now just waiting for Jango... I'm just hoping they don't make him all silver given that Cody is almost all white
  8. To answer your POV-Ray question, the pieces need to be coloured with a transparent colour for them to render as transparent (unless I've misundersood what you're looking for). And to have a completely transparent background, you need to untick "Add Base Plane" (assuming you're using LDD2POV-Ray) as well as "Set colour to". "Transparent" setting in the Scene tab should be obvious, untick if you want an opaque white background, tick if you want a transparent background But I do love your concept creature, and since it's based on the playtesting reports (which may or may not turn out to be true), I hope we might see something similar to this next year (are these possibly instead of this year's Protectors?)
  9. Although the Winter 2015 Bionicle sets were leaked around July, I tend to think that it was a bit of a special case with leaks emerging that early. We don't normally get leaked pics (sometimes not even any set info) for themes until September/October, so I don't really expect 2016 Bionicle pics until then. But given the recent trend of official pics appearing much earlier than usual, I guess we may see leaks much earlier, and it wouldn't surprise me if we saw more concrete 2016 set info in July or August. I don't know, I kind of hope we don't see the same characters next year in the sets. For me, variety is the spice of life. I'll gladly take this rumoured "Toa Ekimu" and maybe a bunch of other hero characters as long as they aren't the same Toa as we got this year (and if they are, they need to come with a bucketload of new and recoloured pieces and look completely different to win me over )
  10. Ah, never mind - thanks for asking anyway. Gives me some time to save up for them, but I'll probably only end up getting either the Dilophosaurus or Indominus Rex set (I really can't decide between the two!) when I next go to the LEGO Store, since I'll inevitably want to buy some Star Wars to take advantage of the May 4th promos, and there's some Chima that's caught my interest too (and I'm far from an endless money pit ). This may be the first theme I collect fully but not go out and buy all the sets on day one...
  11. Starts from this comment. Sounds very much like a further 6 SW constraction figs given it's quoting a post about Obi-Wan looking mechanical. If that's so - I'll have stuff to buy in December . But this really belongs in the Star Wars constraction thread I'm glad the hilts indeed look generic enough that it could potentially have a wide variety of detailing Technic and Constraction uses. No lie, I used to make lightsabers for Constraction figures, and I'd often use one of these in pearl light gray to make the hilt. But I prefer the new mould of hilt by miles compared to my solution I too see them re-using the shin guard and the new shoulder add-on in Bionicle, printing or no printing. After all, on the legs it's used in conjunction with the Kaiju fin, which is used in Bionicle (at least in Lewa). The torso shell could potentially make an appearance (maybe it would be good for a robed Bionicle character? I don't know), I've a hard time seeing the general shape of it being licensed (of course the printed variants would be).
  12. I think there was somebody (apparently a reliable source) in the Star Wars rumours forum that said there was going to be a second wave of these Constraction figures. Anyway, that concept art is beautiful. I especially like the Earth region, but I think that's because I like crystals and caves (nothing to do with me being a geologist... ).
  13. You might very well be right - what you say and what was contained in your spoiler matches up to the set names that have suddenly appeared tagged to their set numbers on Brickset. Safe to say, I did not expect Obi-Wan to be the $25 set (I really thought it'd be Jango filling that spot - now I wonder how they'll do his jetpack and still make the model look well-armoured and good, I fear that the number of parts that might be needed for the jetpack might detract from the set as a whole. I can't think of many ways to make a good looking jetpack with a low parts count (neither do I see them making a new jetpack mould as a shell add-on). Unless - they don't even do the jetpack ).
  14. You might have unintentionally misread my post. What I meant was that people in the Action Figures subforum (here) like Obi-Wan and don't like Grievous, but people in the Star Wars forum appear to think the exact opposite. Except for those few individuals there that clearly don't like Constraction of course
  15. I didn't spot those - the shortest ones in grey will be extremely useful to me, as I've been wanting them for a model for a long time. And yes - the Obi-Wan cape might work, but it just wouldn't be the same to me. It needs to be two-toned at the least for me EDIT: I took a look at the main Star Wars rumours forum - funny that most people here think Obi-Wan is good and Grievous isn't that great, but people over there seem to think the exact opposite
  16. I really like them both. Grievous could be better, but he's perfectly satisfactory for me. Exposed balljoints don't bother me much here (though I could swap them out for the Skull Villain "bone" bones since I've decided I'm getting doubles of at least Basher and Slicer), and I wasn't expecting him to use the Skull Spider legs for claws. The thing that really bugs me about Grievous though is lack of cape, but I do like the tan (another new CCBS colour! ). The picture does give a better look at the back of those new shells though, I'm glad they're attached by balljoints. The out-of-place looking Technic connector looks to be so you can attach Grievous' arms together as he does in the media (though really, I can't imagine it looking great that way so I will be removing them and he'll permanently have 4 arms) I'm pleasantly surprised by Obi-Wan - dare I say it, the best CCBS human figure LEGO has done? 4M shells in White! New shoulder add-on that could potentially be useful! And that brown cape... I'll take two Obi-Wans please I'm surprised the last two will be revealed in a matter of days - I thought it was going to be more spread out than that. So I take it it's DEFINITELY Jango and Cody now? There's been conflicting sources saying they might be Boba and a Stormtrooper, but honestly, if they bring lots of lovely recolours, I'm all for it, I don't care who we get (if it's Jango, he better have a little bit of dark blue ) The pictures suggest this is a lighter tan than Vardy's shells. It looks nowhere near as dark as Dark Tan, Vardy's shell colour. I'm 99% certain the shells here are regular tan.
  17. Sorry for the double post... but Amazon.co.uk have put the Chima sets up on their site for pre-order, so now we know their GBP prices for certain. And the fact that I can only find them, the Flatiron Building and Jurassic World sets out of all the as-yet-unreleased sets (all have May release dates), I have a very good hunch that these will almost definitely be out next month (particularly since the Rumble Bear has a dispatch date of 3-5 weeks). At least in the UK that is. Bladvic's Rumble Bear £34.99 Mammoth's Frozen Stronghold £49.99 King Crominus' Rescue £69.99
  18. Interesting to see that the offer runs for a lot longer this year than it did previous years (8 days this year compared to the normal 2 or 3 days). Hopefully I'll be able to take advantage of the offer this year - hope the Wookiee Gunship is included with the 10% off offers as that is the only SW set still on my wanted list, but it probably won't be Funny I didn't get this through my door today - maybe I don't need any more encouragement to spend tons of money direct through their retail channels
  19. Picked up a 41073 Naida's Epic Adventure Ship today. Not normally the sort of thing I buy, but when I saw it was £12.50, well, I really couldn't resist
  20. This is what I do sometimes. I have no desire to own more than one of a certain figure so I trade and sell duplicates. Plus it helps top-up the LEGO budget. But I understand not everybody would be willing to go through the hassle of selling. It's down to personal opinion Strongly agree. When I'm really short of money, I skip sets with duplicate figs and if those sets contain a figure I want, I'll go to BL and buy it (but I didn't skip Lasha's Bite Cycle - in fact I didn't really skip any 2012 Ninjago sets ). I can see why people might be riled up about duplicate figs appearing in the Dimensions sets, but it's a different theme altogether. After all, I don't think anyone ever complained about the inclusion of Lloyd (Green Ninja) in TLM's Secret Police Dropship. Some kids that will buy Dimensions will probably want it for the game and they might not even have the sets that contain a certain figure. Also, if Dimensions consisted solely of brand new figs, it might even lose interest from some of it's target audience. As one of LEGO's best selling and best known IP's, of course Ninjago was going to feature heavily in Dimensions. Familiarity and popularity sells, that's my guess. Of course, I won't be buying Dimensions at any point (lack of compatible console plus I don't play video games anymore), so I might be a little biased
  21. Nice, I wasn't expecting to see these at all. They must be coming out pretty soon, given we haven't seen official high-res pics of any sets in the other themes due for June release yet, thus giving me the indication that they might be out in May after all. Even though it looks immensely awkward, I'll be picking up the Rumble Bear for certain (since I want a vehicle from every tribe). Undecided on whether to pick up the other two sets or just buy Fire Harness Laval, Cragger and Rogon; Saraw and Crominus, and maybe Rinona (since it does appear that it's a significant variant) separately... And even with these high-res pics, I still can't see if Crominus has croc kneepads or the generic Fire Chi legs, because on all shots of Crominus, they're obscured by the icecage or cut off
  22. I know it will never happen, but I would go crazy for a Spyro the Dragon theme done in LEGO, especially from the late Nineties video games which still remain my favourite games of all time (but if we ever saw a LEGO Spyro, I guess it'd be under Skylanders). Unfortunately, Skylanders (which incorporates Spyro as a character) is licensed to a clone brick brand, and now LEGO competes with Skylanders since it's released Dimensions, it's never going to happen. I'd say a Crash Bandicoot theme (my second favourite game series) would get me interested too, but that franchise has been shelved for what, 7 years, so that'd be extremely unlikely too. Same with Rayman (my third favourite game series), though I imagine a LEGO Rayman figure would provide some very cool trans-clear minifig arms and legs to simulate his odd appearance... If in the extremely unlikely event that any of these Nineties video game characters ever made it into LEGO, I would likely go completely broke
  23. I agree with that, I could certainly get some use out of enormous shells. Also, since it appears we're talking about shell wish lists, I wouldn't mind seeing extra-wide shells (akin to the 6M shoulder armour but in more lengths). Sometimes I want small and bulky Oh, and add me to the list of 2.0 foot dislikers, since it's been brought up - again Sure, it's oversized, way too common and maybe a tad ugly, but my main complaint about it is the enormous gap between the ball socket and the rest of the foot. Yes, you can fill it up, but to me, that doesn't look right. And yes, it looks okay as armour, but then it leaves an exposed ball cup, sitting there just looking out of place. Splitface and Dragon Bolt, I'm looking at you I think a new "human-like" foot is in order, complete with more useful connection points like bars and ball joints perhaps. I may as well also say the need for a new, innovative small hand mould, with bars so you can attach your own fingers (and not those big Savage Planet paws) and still have secure connections for weapons.
  24. Is anybody else struggling to access Bricklink? I've been trying to get on it for the last hour so I can send an invoice to a buyer who ordered earlier today, but no matter what webpage connected to Bricklink I try to access, I get a "This webpage is not available" on both Chrome and Safari. Anybody else get this? Is the server down? It must be a problem with the server since scheduled maintenance never falls at this sort of time... All other webpages work fine for me by the way. EDIT: Just noticed it's back up. Never mind this post.
  25. Pretty sure those don't exist? I'm sure all torso shells are 8M long, in case you were talking about those. Now I want 7M shells badly . It seems to be somewhat the "missing shell" in the lineup, and I can think of many situations where a 7M shell would actually be more useful than an 8M shell (which exists). And while I'm at it, I wouldn't mind a 1M shell or a 2M shell, so I can squeeze shells into smaller spaces. Or even completely symmetrical shells, but those are as likely as getting a new set of piston-adorned shells that people crave (unlikely).
