  1. Highly unlikely LEGO would be using the track links for this purpose.
  2. In 2012 I spotted 2013 product (including a few City sets, CMF Series 9 and a couple of others) on the 28th of December at MYER North Lakes and IIRC also at Chermside since I remember the store with the toy section being off to the side with that little ramp and the alphabet stickers on the floor. (and I remember picking up some S9 at the time to pack in my suitcase with the Bag End set I had also bought) http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19244&st=8725#entry1468724 was the post I made at the time.
  3. Does anyone know of anywhere in Brisbane (or Gold Coast) that still has stock of the yellow Mixels? (or online where shipping or prices aren't super-expensive?)
  4. I would love to see a set with the level of detail of the Emerald Night but using an American prototype (4-4-0 or 4-6-0) as a reference. The BTTF train would have been a cool set to see but I suspect it was just too big to be a viable IDEAS product plus the DeLorien didn't exactly fly off the shelves (mostly due to the not-so-good design I suspect)
  5. The big problem I have is that they seem to introduce new animals (Elephant, Camel, Ostrich, Goat, Cow) but then only use them in a small handful of sets. The Camel came in 2 colors each of which was only in one set. Same thing with the elephant. The Ostrich was only in a single set, as was the goat. The Cow has appeared in 4 sets so far but all of them have been super-expensive (Farm, Medieval Market Village, Sea Cow, Cargo Train). At least the Pig and Chicken have been found in some smaller sets.
  6. Anyone got any ideas on how I can build a kangaroo that won't look out-of-scale next to a minifig and a 6-wide car?
  7. Quote from another forum re Hobbit sets and Big W: "They are getting them and the price of 79018 Lonely Mountain looks like it will be $168 (if my eyesight is okay)"
  8. I have definatly seen the sets around. Its possible the bigger chains (MYER, Target, K-Mart, Big W, whoever) are still waiting for their stock. Or are holding it back until closer to the movie release date.
  9. Can I nominate the 1 x 4 x 2 panel in trans-smoke? I have quite a few places where that would be useful...
  10. So anyone got any advice on how to maximize my chances when I submit this to Ideas?
  11. Here is a set of 5 different 6-wide City car styles that can all be built from the same set of parts. Design 1 is a small sedan Design 2 is a hatchback Design 3 is a full-size sedan Design 4 is a UTE (which is what us Aussies call a pickup truck) And design 5 is a station wagon Here are 2 people I built to go with the cars Here is a picture of all 144 or so parts used in the cars Here are LXF files of the car designs if anyone wants to build their own (in white or any other color): http://www.cncmods.net/files/cars/sedan2.lxf http://www.cncmods.net/files/cars/hatch.lxf http://www.cncmods.net/files/cars/sedan.lxf http://www.cncmods.net/files/cars/ute.lxf http://www.cncmods.net/files/cars/wagon.lxf My plan is to submit this to LEGO Ideas, does anyone have any feedback on what I can do to improve things before I make the submission? (I was planning to take a photo of all 5 cars next to each other but A.I forgot and B.Showing more than one car in the shot might mislead people into thinking the Ideas submission is something it isn't) It was built in white because that was the only color I had sufficient pieces in but if it was made into an actual set, I would want to see it in a different color (preferably a color like dark green or dark blue or light blue or some other color LEGO cars don't normally come in)
  12. A bank would be a great opportunity to use the round groove column bricks in a nice color, banks are one place where faux-classical columns like that tend to be found (courthouses and government buildings are another, as are things like museums)
  13. Chermside MYER: At least 3-4 Sea Cows At least 3 VWs At least 3 PRs One lone TH Chermside DJs: At least one TH Multiple PCs Multiple Opera Houses Multiple Mixers Multiple VWs Multiple Sopwiths MYER Brisbane CBD: At least 5 VWs At least 2 Sea Cows At least 2 Simpsons At least 2 PRs At least 1 PC (cant remember if it was more than that) David Jones Brisbane CBD had good stock levels too although I forgot to note what they had (they definatly had Mixers though)
  14. Current sales: Various sets at K-Mart on sale including the LEGO Movie Spaceship for $109 (if you want one, that price is as good as you are likely to get) Target 20% off David Jones 20% off (yes, that includes the modulars, fairground mixer etc) MYER buy-1-get-1-50% off until Sunday (yes, including modulars) A few items on special at Big W as well
  15. google for "carpenter hardhat" shows plenty of examples of carpenters wearing hardhats. I suspect any carpenter working at height or in area where there might be falling objects (e.g. working underneath somewhere where things might fall down from above) would wear one. Plus I have seen any number of kids plastic tool sets that come with play hardhats. Its just cool to get a hardhat in a color other than red for once...
  16. The rubber or other softer plastic is used in cases where the part would be too sharp if molded in the normal ABS.
  17. I doubt they would be working on Series 14 so early. Which thread was the pumpkin picture posted in, I cant find it in the Licensed forum...
  18. I just love these, the carpenter is awesome and I will be buying multiples of him. The wood printing, the tool belt legs, the hand saw and that nice polo shirt (which IMO would work great as a uniform for employees of a hardware store or one of those companies that comes around to your house and does handyman type jobs or even just a shirt for a weekend DIYer). Its pretty much exactly what I had in mind when I pictured a carpenter CMF. About the only thing I would have done differently is to print a hammer on his tool belt (since carpenters need hammers...)
  19. Brisbane CBD report as of earlier today. DJs has sopwith, vw, cinema, ecto, mixer and opera house. MYER has vw, sea cow, simpsons house, cinema, parisian and one lone grand emporium. Big W has one simpsons house and thats it. No report possible from Target and Mr Toys due to yesterday's extreme weather closing both. No town halls or pet shops anywhere.
  20. Its great that this set has (for the first time ever) a brown baseplate.
  21. Liking the Hot Dog Man, Paleontologist (those glasses...), Snake Charmer, Sheriff, Fencer and Carpenter (only one this series I really want multiples of) Maybe interested in the Galaxy Trooper, Classic King, Evil Wizard (the beard is interesting) and Disco Diva
  22. I think Homer's and Burn's torsos work great for normal figs. (I used Homer's torso for a Cricket Player in a MOC recently and it worked great)
  23. My guess is that the Birds project didn't require a lot of work to turn it into a buildable model.
  24. My hope is that the Detective Agency pricing follows the pricing of the Parisian Restaurant which is also $160 in the US and is $250 in Australia. But with the fall in the dollar as of late, I predict it will be $260 or more.
