[SR - FB1 - Dec16] The Bleak Angel: Prelude
kaiju replied to kaiju's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks. The chairs are actually the Elves Starlight Inn chairs with the 2x2 round tiles removed. Thank you. I decided I wanted the text for the follow up to be an "In Setting" document so I though a bit of a preamble would help. Thank you. There's only one post more for this tale, but it will then be followed up by the conclusion of the Heretic's Hoard treasure hunt story. Well, it is the premiere choice of recruitment ground for ne'ver-do-wells and assorted outcasts. And thank you.- 5 replies

I really like how that fort looks. I hope the later version turns out as well.

My first freebuild of the month, and a prelude to finally posting my sigfig's vessel. The Bleak Angel: Prelude

Heroes, Villains and Legends A Journey Through the Discoveries of the Age of the Exploration: the Ships; the Captains; the People Volume Four: The Self-Styled and So-Called Sea Rats By Quentin Connors Chapter Thirteen: The Bleak Angel So it was that after that particular escapade I found myself again in Bastion, de facto capital of the Sea Rats. Unfortunately, I was also distinctly lacking in funds for further voyages to the newer colonies. Indeed, I was worryingly close to longer being able to retain accommodation for myself and storage for my manuscripts. Forced, as I was, to relocate myself I began to frequent a small tavern near the outskirts of Bastion known as the Lonely Lantern. After a few nights an unusually quiet group entered the tavern. This was a ship's crew, and fortuitously for me they were looking for more recruits. My enthusiasm was dampened but my curiosity piqued when I heard the captain's name: Leon Dracken. This was the crew of the Bleak Angel, a ship surrounded by all manner of tall and sinister tales. But still, I needed money and transport. Here, now, was a chance for both. After a couple more drinks I introduced myself to the ship's first mate, Alastair Jakes, and we discussed the notion of my joining the crew for a short time. To my relief, I was accepted. Little did I realise that Captain Dracken had been listening to the conversation. To Be Continued... And a "clean" look at the bar

I expect I'll end up getting some of the smaller sets for the Vermillion minifigs. -

Not really; I found Sparx to be more than decent so seeing a similar build isn't a problem for me. -
Nice. Looks like I'll gave to pick that one up.

Thank you, both. I can't take too much credit for the colours; after trying out a couple of other combinations I decided to just go with the colour scheme of Ninjago's ghost faction.

I probably won't be licensing this version, I don't think the undead get good credit with traders. It would be fairly simple to de-spooky the ship, though, so a version of the build may be licensed in future. Thanks That was the idea.

Thank you. Thanks. I went for the yellowish green/glow in the dark colour after trans-bright green rendered... poorly with the software I'm using. I thought I mighty have gone a little over the top with the amount in places.

A couple of days late, or maybe just in time for Day of the Dead. In either case... Certain tales and superstitions are quick to catch and spread. Stories of a ship seen at distance burning with an eerie green fire, told hold all across the spreading empires. Corlander rationalism, the Faith of Oleon, nothing seemed to silence hushed tales of of the burning ship and its crew of the dead and damned. And around a certain night sacred to the priests of Hades reported sightings of the ship known as the Lost Soul's Tide were all to frequent.

No, which is rather the point: the lack of further rumours suggests a lack of further sets. -
And now for the post I should have made on Friday... Awesome If only I'd had more competition... Anyway, I'd like to thank the Sea Rat leadership for running this, and dr_spock for their quite amusing entry.

LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion

The villain's vehicles being alive seems to be part of the theme for Nexo Knights. Everything the lava monsters brought that was bigger than the Chaos Catapult had a face as well. -
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you may wish to read the background of the Brick Seas. They aren't exactly historical. Your build, however, looks great. And welcome to the Sea Rats.

It's an amusing touch that Action Lance has wheels in the feet to continue to allow him to joust against everything. -
BBCode is turned off until they've finished rebuilding after the upgrade (in posts, at least).

I really like the little house, even if it doesn't look like there's much room inside. And nice touch with the new terrier. -

If the sets are actually those colours, I won't complain. And from those descriptions, I may end up buying a couple of Ruina's set if it's cheap enough.
