Its the 4th of July here in the USA, and here in California, there is an epic drought. So, the CalFire people used Lego to try to get the word out to not use illegal fireworks with the potential to cause a lot of damage if a fire starts because of it. I love how they put a CalFire logo on the fire truck in the background. Happy 4th, be safe!

I agree with you too, too little too late..I think we are doing most of the PR ourselves.. Too high a goal in too short a time frame.

I got this update today: Big NEWS - additional products to be offered...Motor Brix & Flicker Brix Posted by Dustin Culton I wanted to give all of our backers a heads-up (and potential "noobs" to the campaign) that we are presently working on some really cool Add-Ons! This includes a future Motor Brix and a Flicker Brix product! The great thing about these new products is that they WILL work with your wireless Power Plate bases that are packaged with the sets here on KS! Therefore, you'll be able to add Motor Brix and Flicker Brix to your system you order from us now. We are still working on some details of these as we speak, but here's a general run down of their functions: Motor Brix - provide rotating motion (ie, great for propellers or other spinning items) Flicker Brix - provide a great flickering light effect. We will have a red/orange Lit Brix (good for a flame/fire effect) and a blue/green (perfect for water highlights)! We have BIG plans for i-Brix and would love to bring all of our ideas to life. It is important for us to reach our initial funding goal as this will provide us with a foundation of being able to utilize molds and other machined components. Help us get there so you can have one of the most awesome accessories to use with LEGO®! BTW, did I mention all of these add-ons will also be wireless?! No need to connect special bricks under your lights or stack the LED bricks on top of powered bricks. All of the power comes from the Power Plate base. Sweeeeeet!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
talos replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Having a building with a particular use attached, kind of makes it necessary to have a theme, and that begets an interior to define it. A building really is just a shell and your imagination defines it. -
I posted something on BrickLink yesterday, didn't get many responses. That archaic bulletin board format buries your message pretty fast, its a pretty small group of people talking to each other too there. Maybe anyone in a LUG can spread it around amongst their memberships?

I am glad they added the all white option, I kind of see that as being the most useful for my own use. They are up to Update #15 I see in my inbox! Total is just over $17K pledged now...

I am glad its getting more exposure, I was surprised when I first posted about it, that doing a search, it came up with nothing previous. I hope enough people see the great potential in it as we have!

They posted a story about it over on Brickset, and the amount pledged almost doubled overnight. Might be able to get to the goal, but I agree, time is running out... They really need to make it more visible, its not exactly easy to find out about it, if it weren't for sites like this one spreading the word...

Moc builders vs Collectors, Lego civil war!
talos replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I started out as a collector, but most everything has fallen to the moc if it has some parts I need. I just took apart my Arkham Asylum. Its mostly in my new moc and my parts drawers now. I do keep my modulars as original sets, only exception is the Detective's Office, I rebuilt that one as I want it, a lot bigger, but essentially looks like it is on the box. -
When you mention the grocery, do you mean the Heartlake Food Market? Set 41108. I was looking at the Lego Brand Catalog ( http://catalogs.lego.com/brandcatalog/brandcatalogue2hy2015/aus_2hy2015/ ) and it doesn't seem to be in there. Its not shown up anywhere on the USA side of the pond, far as I can find... I see it listed on the Ireland S@H site though... I wonder if they are planning on selling it here. Maybe its like a few other sets already available, that they are holding back here for later this year...

I went ahead and backed it too.

I saw this on The Brick Fan daily email, about a Kickstarter project looking for funding. It is called 'iBrix' and it's a cool idea to use wireless power to light individual bricks. You put a power pad underneath your base plate and the power is transmitted wirelessly to the individual light bricks. Take a look at the link for how it looks and works. I would definitely be interested in this if it gets developed. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1426110532/i-brix-wireless-lighting-system-for-lego-building

I think it stopped working back last year for me. Can't recall exactly. If you order something, then go through all the steps, and then the order goes through and they give you an order number, that last screen has some text that says you will be receiving a confirmation email shortly.... only, it never comes...
-
Checked this AM, and its shipped, won't get here till next Wednesday though. No email telling me either. I never get any sort of confirmations at all anymore...

Ack! Don't jinx me! LOL... Another day and it is still 'In Warehouse' arghh...
-
My backordered 88000 AAA battery box is now 'in warehouse,' finally! At least that 15 June estimate was pretty close.

I tried to make a mock up of my roll up door idea (to make a taller roll up door), and it mostly works. It takes a little jiggling to move the door. The main problem is the 1x4 bricks with the side notch (2653) are too deep for the roll up door glass pieces. The door goes up and down, but because the groove is too deep for the parts, the door can get askew in the track and then get stuck in the internal ribs those notched pieces have. My idea of using two of the 'tooth' parts (49668) with a headlight brick guides the door from vertical to horizontal pretty well. Take a look at the photos I took. I just used parts I had laying around to put it together, so looks a little messy. I think a more perfect solution would be to cut in half 2 of the existing horizontal track pieces and then add in the middle some of the side groove parts to make the necessary length of track to fit the door height needed. That is a hard one for me, to cut a Lego part! Haha..
-
I used to have that problem, doesn't happen as often now though. It was a cookie problem. Someone said it was just one particular one, but that didn't work for me. I just did a search for all the 'Lego' cookies and delete them. Then the site would work OK for a while. The problem would come back again. With the latest version of Firefox, it doesn't seem to have problems like that anymore for me. I'm using a Mac.

I'm no expert on warehouse operations, so am not going to argue. Just am annoyed on how long it takes. I figure all those updates are probably automated, no one is actually checking for real accuracy. Its all 'ballpark' estimates. Usually sets seem to come in earlier, but Power Function items take a LOT longer!
-
OK, I ordered a AAA battery box (88000), and it was back ordered, back on 17 May, and I am sure it said then 15 June or thereabouts to ship. I still haven't got it, and now I check and the date says 27 July! I sure hope that is for more recent orders, and not mine too... So frustrating when you are waiting on a particular item, and it keeps getting pushed back. I know others are in the same boat, reading the previous posts... Its funny too, because if I log in as a different region from the USA, like Ireland, it shows the battery box as available. I guess they don't redistribute stock, and would rather have orders just sit there in limbo... :-(

Nice job on the design! I have always wished they had a front half and a rear half for the roll up door track, and some intermediate pieces, so you could combine them to make a taller door. The width is also a little too narrow for me. There is a 1x4 brick with a notch on the side (part 2653), I wanted to try using those to have a longer track, but it doesn't really work, there are small ribs inside the notch, that the door sections get hung up on.
