  1. I think I said this before, but the color scheme on your outdoor scene is really great and I like the shape and feel of the workshop. Because of the shape of your workshop, I think you could have gone with a larger engine, but I understand how difficult those engines are to build with limited parts
  2. Thanks for all of the kind comments. There is one more shot, but I didn't do a good job of exhibiting some of the details in the interior. And, of course, I had to take a lot of parts from this to make the Phantom, but I'm in the process of converting it into a modular (based around the Parisian Restaurant layout) for an upcoming LUG event. I'll try to focus on more of the details when I photograph that.
  3. I really like the wings on the sides of the pod and you photographed the black well. Some of the details seem a little busy but the overall structure of those engines is seamless and great
  4. Thank you for all the kind comments. I do not plan to do a minifig scale Ghost. I'm pretty sure I don't have anywhere near the bricks or the patience for that. I do not plan to put together any instructions but i might take a few pictures when dismantling it to show how it was built. I don't have any at this time but I'll consider reshooting at some point.
  5. Not again... I knew today was going to be bad when I found this dewback out of her pen this morning. The big old girl had already knocked over some seriously expensive equipment and was busy licking the dew off of the fuel tanks, which likely accounts for her present digestive problems. I caught a terrible beating from my sergeant for her escape even though it was the pilots’ fault. They came back again last night, drunker than the night before and woke me up with a kick and something warm spraying on my face. After they ran me out of the stables, I am pretty sure they were messing with the dewbacks and they must have left this one loose. My sergeant did not care; said I was responsible for the dewbacks regardless. The rest of the squad was laughing and seemed all too pleased to see me on the wrong end of the lash once again. Now, this stupid old beast has been defecating all over the desert and I’m responsible for cleaning it up for some reason. They never said why I had to clean this stuff up; it is the freaking desert – a giant litter box – nobody is going to notice some dewback droppings. What does the Empire do about all of the wild dewback droppings? Do they have special squads to clean that up, too? I really should know better than to ask questions at this point. Nothing about the Empire makes any sense. Right now it looks like the local pilots are buying a pod racer from some sleazy salesman. They might even be buying the Dug pilot by the looks of things. These Imperials have no respect for non-humans. They treat us like slaves, serving them drinks, keeping their bar, lining their prisons, unnecessarily cleaning up their animals’ crap in the desert… These joker pilots are the last ones that should be getting into the pod races. From what their Iktotchi barmaid has told me, the Black Sun has been propping up this particular compound because the officers in charge are funneling Imperial V-Wings to the cartel. It’s been a good deal for the officers, who have bought up some extravagant living quarters and attached a first-rate Imperial shop. As far as the Empire is concerned, their only job is to provide aerial support to any Tatooine operations (which conveniently accounts for high V-Wing turnover due to the geography), but the enterprising among them have expanded their presence here to the aforementioned graft as well as some light “policing”/kidnapping/extortion of the locals. Because of the subsequent surrounding sentiment, this entire outpost is at the mercy of the cartel and they do not even know it. I am sure the cartel will just use this entry into the pod races to recoup their credits from these officers, but I am hoping the cartel will pull the rug out of this entire operation and that my squad will get taken down by the backlash. We have only been here for a few weeks; something about providing security during some heightened activity. Apparently they pull this kind of detail a lot; moving from planet to planet filling in the gaps where needed. I have only been with this squad since their last billet, but I can already tell that they were an ignorant, stupid lot of brutes. When I am not being beaten for imaginary infractions, the other troopers ridicule me mercilessly. They will not even let me wear a full uniform because it would bring shame to their glorious station. Some of the privates even tried to file down my horns before the squad leader stopped them (his reasoning, to be sure that I could be readily identified as non-human and treated appropriately – with scorn and mistrust as a non-citizen to the Empire). I hate these people. I hate the Empire. Even more, I hate my family for leaving me to these wolves. SoNE Episode VIII Entry by goatman461, on Flickr

  7. Edit - Season 2 Phantom (thanks to ScottishDave's help) Star Wars REBELS - The Phantom by Goatman461 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr Big thanks to ScottishDave for inspiring me to remake this ship, giving me some ideas to improve, and helping me along the way. He's a true credit to the forum. Check out my SoNE build, featuring the Phantom, here. I'm also going to keep this together for a while, so if you end up at a convention in Texas, keep an eye out for Chop. Original post/build - Phantom low angle by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr Phantom back hatch by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr Phantom side by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr I built this for a contest with the DFWLUG. It had to be Star Wars and on a 16x16 base. I chose to do a Rebels MOC because there are way to few out there and I thought it would be a good way to stand out. Hopefully my fellow LUG members follow the kids show, too. With the wings folded in, it just barely fits the 16x16 base. The three supports are not attached to the base; they just precariously sit on the SNOT'd top. The ship itself is minifigure scale with fold out seating for the pilot and 8 passengers. The interior is finished out, SNOT'd, and visible through a removable back hatch. The bottom should be white but I felt that the pictures allowed some leeway and I didn't have the white arches I would need to make the Ghost-Phantom access hatch. I also did not make the wings as smooth as I wanted because of the 16x16 size limit was already being tempted. Rebels Phantom 16x16 Base by goatman461, on Flickr The base is just a fun depiction of stormtroopers running in circles, Sabine ruining a perfectly good rooftop, Kanan facing off against the Inquisitor, and Zeb chasing down some bucket heads. I also wanted to add some Lothal-style greebling with a greebled Rebels "R" Thanks for looking. C&C appreciated. 5/12/15 Edit: New shots added

  9. Can anybody suggest a good part for Sabine's spray paint "cans?"
  10. Welcome Scorch, There are two different kinds of builds: Freebuilds and Episode Entries. Freebuilds get posted in the main Star Wars forum and can be anything or anywhere you want. Ideally, you use them to tell some back story about your character or just hone your skills as a builder. Rules for Episode Entries vary; you will have to check the particular rules of the current episode. Do you plan to build for the current episode?
  11. Rough screen shots of some TFA ships pulled from the teaser
  12. The four "pipes" in the wall are awesome. I knew those would be great for greebling but I hadn't figured out how yet. You used them perfectly. Now, TELL US WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT THE POD RACES!!!
  13. I like your (new) last picture best. The lighting on the first few was way too harsh and I don't think the background worked out well. The problem might be the angles of the shots versus the background; because they differ I think it is disorienting. The actual build is good. You made good use of your parts and kept it simple yet complete. The only issue I have is with the top front of your skiff. You could have used some SNOTing techniques to smooth out the dbg and I think it would have worked much better. Looking forward to seeing more.
  14. Or you could just click "find content" on a builder's profile and see all of the topics created, which tends to be their freebuilds and episode entries. If we don't advertise SoNE (in the main forum) we won't recruit new players to keep it going.
  15. Sorry it took me so long to reply... thank you for the comments. It's actually got a bit more junk-in-the-trunk than you can see here, but it was cramped. The Wookiee would have to be laying flat in a cargo hold and Goatm and his nurse would be sitting almost on the ramp, right next to the Wookiee. The Wookiee would be able to pull the Ithorian down from the pilot seat from below, but may not be able to take the controls to pilot very quickly.
  16. It's nice to see your color palette evolving (as your BL orders come in, I assume... you sure have been investing a lot in tiles) The black stripe on the walls is great. I think the build overall has a great Imperial vibe. I do struggle with some of the details you included. The blast door and the weapon stand look especially clunky and I had to rely on your story to know what it was. Ideally, you could look at your build and instantly see the story in it, without reading. Keep up the good work.
  17. Congratulations. I've got a 2nd about to pop out but hopefully got a week or two of building before then.
  18. I think freebuilds in the regular forum allows us to advertise SoNE with a lot of Star Wars LEGO fans that would otherwise overlook us. Creating a subforum would further limit the number of comments you would get because casual lurkers wouldn't even open the subforum. However, if we added links to our SoNE builds to the player index page, that would allow an easy index for other builders to go through and comment on the builds or follow the character developments. An easy way to do this would be to allow each player to comment on the thread once and continually go back and edit his/her comment making it an index/profile of their character and builds.
  19. I think the best way to stretch your LEGO is to build ships. Building architecture requires you to use the same part over and over but a ship is much less likely to repeat parts. That being said, pod racers are a bit trickier because of their symmetry. Do you have a flickr account or anywhere that we can see your past builds? That might help us suggest something that plays to your strengths.
  20. Thanks for doing all of this work Kodan. Can you PM me a link to your Google doc?
  21. Great ship. What does the rest of it look like?
