  1. Get as many copies as you can and sell them on ebay for 500 bucks each.
  2. toward a company making predominantly military stuff - they have an account of the numbers for that also somewhere - so that makes then anti-military I guess.
  3. Well, a few pages back, I was entertaining sort of the same idea ... and was asking folks, whether they really believe in that wild and funny "in reply to protesters" story. DFG-VK has put online a couple of pages and video clips. To me, they sound very friendly and cooperative. The best part is this (from their press release): "‘LEGO has exceeded our expectations,’ Michael Schulze von Glaßer, Executive Director of the DFG-VK, states. The organization assumed that the release of the ‘42113 Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey’ was inevitable since sets were already delivered to LEGO retailers." And the best part is: "The German Peace Society is surprised by the prompt reaction of the company: ‘We tried to contact LEGO several times since February and asked for a statement in regard to the newly planned military set. We also offered talks but never received an answer,’ Schulze von Glaßer states. According to the organization, this situation could have been prevented." (Italics by me) Since February ... that was when Covid-19 was felt to be far far away - at least here in Germany. Full press release here, in case you haven't read it: https://lovebricks-hatewar.dfg-vk.de/files/lego/2020-07-22_PressRelease_LEGO-refrains-from-military-set.pdf Actually to me they sound a little scared by their "success" - and wanted to take another route. Whatever. nipeL - this is sooo cool - never heard it ... question is though: Will DFG-VK go after nipeL? They should. But I a) bet they don't know about nipeL and b) nipel has no ethic or optic protocol regarding selling military related toys. PLUS: They would not only not answer but simply make it. Well the will do so, I guess. What a wonderful world ... Best Thorsten
  4. When is saw it, my first fear was that my glasses may crack (varifocals, kinda expensive, you get 3 of my model for the V22 model on ebay though ) But then I thought: Don't worry, they are made of high-performance, high-quality, high-what-not, and highly priced plastic. And then they melted.
  5. Very nicely phrased - will use that phrase in the next faculty meeting ... Best Thorsten
  6. They are, from many perspectives. This is even more shabby than the whole madness altogether. $1500 for a toy for which we have the instructions and almost all pieces ... for me that's a $1300 donation for Covid-19 affected and $200 for the set (or whatever the retail price was). Yes I know: We're living in a rich men's world (I do like even the ABBA version of that song) - and this is how it is. And: For the rest of your life you can tell people who don't want to know THE story. Time to go to work - done (home office ) Have a nice day! Best Thorsten
  7. And in addition: It is a nice, diverse, and decent discussion. I really like that. I am pretty sure there are not that many places on the internet, where I keep tossing in my blurbs on a record-breaking topic like this one. This is, as far as I am concerned - the big difference between EB and many, many, many other places. Folks, I am having a couple of these: Cheers, Thorsten
  8. But don't they get it, because no one "affected" stands up "reasonably"? Wisely? Rationally? I have the feeling that when this type of thing happens, all hell (all crap and the deepest nonsense) breaks loose. Instead of: Thinking, discussion, accepted solution. To be honest, I am tired of all that crying out loud (e.g., not getting a toy), all that whining, cussing, all that violence, trouble, all these irrational responses - that is what I am exhausted from. Not about who is getting whatever way. Homo sapiens sapiens. The very wise man. What nonsense. Best Thorsten.
  9. That is 100% what I am thinking. Thank you for phrasing it that way. 100%. Regards Thorsten
  10. (I took the freedom to mark a few of your words on bold, hope that is OK) Ahh - I can see that as well. Thank you for your response! For me it then goes even further into the direction of TLG: They should have reacted way more wisely on this one. There are so many ways to approach this issue; one is certainly not to freak out in this way but: think. Twice. The yelling and cussing and shouting reactions regarding '"small groups" using the internet for exponential growth' are - as far as I am concerned - equally leading nowhere. Other than: Blowing off personal steam. But that is sometimes also very counterproductive. For me, I can conclude this: DFG-VK has made a very dumb and dull decision of targeting TLG (the radio reported this morning it was because a group of protesters in front of the LEGO store in Berlin, I'll check, but I believe this group came there because they heard of it through the internet - but I don't know). I am very much in line though with their general agenda - when not dealing with toy companies TLG has made an even dumber decision in stopping this; rather than moving wisely forward (should this protest really be the central reason for stopping this, see above post) Any reactions should go to DFG-VK AND TLG, without all that shouting and (dumb) cursing, but with all the wisdom and knowledge present, at least here on EB; I have read so many good arguments here to actually release the set, despite that protest. All the best Thorsten
  11. I like this guy so much - his tone, his arguments, reasoning. Whether it is review, comment, interpretation, mod, it does not matter. And this is really a very good live stream recording. I fully agree with @Bartybum; maybe jumping into 43 min 30 sec is a good start. Best Thorsten
  12. Do you really believe in that? Really? Come on. TLG has a legal department that can sue the SH*T out of people. Youtube. BrickLink. LEPIN. You name it. And they cannot take it up with that - apparently random - organization? Are you kidding me??? All this "small groups of angry people" crap has become so bizarre in this thread, so utterly bizarre ... you can't possibly believe in such nonsense. What is going on here? Read and read again what TLG has written: THEY have decided to do it this way. There are many alternatives. Many! Just don't crack down on these DFG-VK folks - you totally overestimate what they can accomplish. Completely. This is about an all-plastic TOY. To have fun with. TLG pulled the plug - for whatever reason. But again: When their legal folks are so weak to take it up, then sorry: They deserve it. And: We have to live with it. And again: Do you really believe that? I simply don't get this. Other than: people are frustrated about that cancellation and blow off steam. In the totally wrong direction though, as far as I am concerned. For me it would be much more interesting why they >really< cancelled the set. To be honest, I find it cheap, really cheap, how they phrased their reasons. Just unloading on other people. Thorsten
  13. Same here! That one is really nice. Have had all since 1998 but this one really nice. Thanks for sharing the link(s)! Best Thorsten
  14. Brilliant! No for me it is perfect. Mind if I copy it (in real bricks) and put it somewhere on my layout? All the best and thank you! Thorsten
  15. and These are the things that made the folks from that group nervous. I agree to everything you wrote, as your four points nail it. And I don't either. Your four points "tipped" something - but I bet there was something else going on inside TLG. Best wishes, Thorsten P.S.: Signed the petition as well.
  16. Naive - yes. Stupid - I leave that to others. Best Thorsten
  17. Yes. I agree to everything you wrote. Thank you! All the best Thorsten
  18. OK, I am a pacifist. But TLG should not go that route - or when they do - quit business; there is too much "war" going on in the various LEGO themes. This one though is about military equipment used in >current< wars around the globe. Nevertheless - I don't see a difference in current, past, or future wars. So either TLG is tight on that or not. And "or not" is the only option - when they want to survive. There is one thing though that I find >irritating< in this discussion: I don't blame people not to know about DFK-VK, not at all. But claiming it is a 2 person NGO with no background is equally - sorry - dumb. And this is very carefully phrased. This "NGO" had 10000 members in 1914, it was founded in 1892. You may not like it politically, nor programmatically - who cares. Just stop the BS about that 2 person NGO crap. It represents a good amount of people who have had it with war and weapons, who have suffered through wars, and want to make a change. Yes I know: Who doesn't. Well: Many. Or better: They don't get their butt off the chair to do something. But these people do. Again: I don't agree with their move. I also do not agree though with all these claims people here do boldly make - apparently without having a clue what that "NGO" represents. Read what they do as you study the functionality of a LEGO model before stating any nonsense. Again, DFK-VK should not go after TLG in the way they do. There are way too many "other" things TLG makes and does whereas other companies do care sh*t. Just keep it a tone lower with the NGO and no background crap Best Thorsten
  19. Plus: It is from 1998 - 22 years ago. An RCX doing the work ... with so nice motors ... What did you use for programming? Best, Thorsten
  20. Same here. I just save numerous versions - and then later clean up. With larger models (including many submodels) - I only very sparsely use the "Undo" - if at all - as for some reason increasing numbers of comment lines are appended to each submodel after each "Undo". This may eventually end up in non-functionality of MLCad. When I need to use "Undo" then I do check for that issue. Found that out when I was adding rather long (and many) LSynth-generated PF and 9V wires to one model. I have always to give that a couple of tries, as MLCad has no problem in wiring through bricks so "Undo" is very nice to remove all the hundreds of LSynth pieces with one click. Best Thorsten
  21. C/p into any graphics tool (including PowerPoint) +++ brightness, --- contrast - all there. Best Thorsten
  22. Yes, that is exactly my take on MLCad: If you have fun of it, you can painlessly place one brick partly inside another. But the thing is really when you get used to it, it simply works fine. And that's it. Others have the same feelings for other software - again: Fine! That is also the reason why I use Microsoft (Ohh Nooo) PowerPoint (Ohhh Noooo) for so many things ... not only lectures and stuff but my entire drawings for my LEGO layout, things I change in/add to the house we're living in. Number one: Because I am used to it. It just works - quick and maybe dirty, but works. Number two: House is still standing, wife, dog and cats are happy. LEGO layout as well: I am happy. Well I believe nothing in MLCad is for entertainment purposes - I believe Michael is a mechanical engineer - these folks do take things seriously. Every bit of what they construct. Be it a bridge crossing a major river or a piece of software, which was built as there was nothing comparable at that time ... Glad that it worked out for you! Happy MLCadding. Best Thorsten
  23. So French it is!!! Best Thorsten
  24. vs. Final score: 1:1. Well, this roughly spans the Diameter of the Playground for The Skilled. Or the Width of The Taste. Or the Depth of the Deep Thoughts. The best part is: Everybody is happy!!! The ones who like it as it is - the ones who don't like it at all and go nuts on it to become their beauty - and others, like me, who change or add or remove a part here and there (that they have mostly seen here or elsewhere anyways) and believe that the result was an unbelievable improvement to a very nice model in the first place. As a result, we all have the most beautiful Crocodile, planet LEGO has ever seen. This is what LEGO is all about! Play well and have fun! Thorsten Wait: @JaBaCaDaBra: Did the forum blitzdings thingy (FBT) change some of your wording into MEGABRICKS or did you write that? Whenever I use Merde in various different incarnations it usually changes that to MEGABLOCKS. Just curious. As I am trying to fool that FBT whenever I can - just for fun ...
  25. It depends Now the original stuff from the US was around 1940. When you refer to that you must be about 90 years old, granted you a) lived then in Switzerland (assuming an age of 10 years as appropriate to digest and then later remember that Captain Future stuff and b) you had access to secret communication lines for transmission and/or printed material of any kind. When however you refer to the 1980 Europe second wave then I am in - and you are not alone around here - for sure. Welcome to EB! Your Captain Future spacecraft is a blast! And would for sure nicely complement the SW "mini" Series with something even nicer!!! All the best Thorsten
