@Modeltrainman if anything, the piston housing for the siderods should be attached to whatever part of the frame that your driving wheels are...
-
@dr_spock True, but that doesn’t necessarily mean TLG will charge less per piece though...

Has anyone seen the new offerings over at Big Ben Bricks...? Some new colors and new parts are available!!!! Have a look over at big ben bricks

Finally!! Up close pictures of the new wheels & wheel holsters... My Pros: - Individual wheel/axle combo makes for easy replacement if damaged or missing -Independent wheels *should* allow for better cornering on tight r40 curves -Assuming axles are bar sized, wheels have potential usage in different styles of bogies, as well as outside of trains altogether -Wheel holsters now have a 2x3 plates’ worth of anti-studs on the underside -Potential for new color options, if utilized outside of train sets My Cons: -Plastic on plastic will lead to higher friction and more chaff produced, so longer & heavier cars will have a tough time -Older versions of wheels & holsters will increase in price & scarcity -If axles are not bar sized...! -Weird stopper/ collar bit on the backside of the axles which seems unnecessary -Potentially easier for wheels to arrive/become damaged -If recolors & external usage don’t occur with +/- a year But those are just my thoughts...

Why don’t we name names? I’m of the notion that we should create an... offender registry...! Of sorts. This way, we can give the multitude of newcommers a crucial nudge in the right direction... away from such pesky clone brands.

@Tcm0 Picture failed to load (at least on phone browsers) What do you mean by longer connections? It looks brick built to me? Especially if you look at the middle bit, it looks like tiles.

What would you want from a new Lego monorail system?

Hopefully this "LuL" doesn't turn into a chatroom full of LoL's... But it does *sound* interesting, to say the least. Seems as though TLG is having a hard time coming up with something other than fire & police stations...? idk why they don't just hire people on as short-term contractors, or create some sort of STEM/STEaM -based internships...? -
If on the users’ computer, they can define which color channels correspond to which functions, would it be possible to set up a... “super channel” of sorts? I don’t quite know how to explain this, so hopefully this crudely typed diagram will help: Channel RED = => RED A ——> red A1 ——> red A2 ——> red A3 ——> red A4 => RED B ——> red B1 ——> red B2 ——> red B3 ——> red B4 What I’m more or less trying to ask is if it would be possible to create a set of sub-channels per each of the five currently available channels? In my head, each of the sub channels could be identified by a flash of the main color followed by a white flash in the number of which sub channel has been selected...? Even with such an implementation however, it is still *wholly* up to the user to define & remember which witch is which... Did any of this make sense to anyone...?

A few questions about some old topics?
M_slug357 replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Most of this should come up via google or EB’s own search functions... but yeah, you’ve missed a ton. Although to be honest, not a drastic amount of change has happened... outside of the PF 2.0 components being more costly? Also (unsurprisingly) no train-related projects have yet to make it through the Lego Ideas’ decathlon as of yet. -
@pilgrim Sadly, this thread seems to be fairly old... So, maybe you'll have to live up to your handle's namesake and make the foray into forgotten territory...?
-
@coaster Now you have your own awesome engine build to help you market those tracks!
-
@sed6 I think what @jus1973 means is that alot of the more rect trains (esp. passenger trains) lack even the façade of doors... so minifig passengers a just left to magically coalesce inside the coaches...

@Ludo & @coaster So, with a 4 stud margin on each side (for MILS), that comes up to roughly 9' 1". That's almost as wide as my current layout!! Also, any more teasers to be had there @coaster? -

@Matt Dawson @legoman666 What size diameter circles do those make? If I remember correctly, a circle of r120s makes a roughly 7’ diameter... so these r168s make like a 9’-10’ circle...? -
This is interesting news! I’m also waiting to see more information on the upcoming Control+ elements... Can anyone explain what the difference is between the two M-motors though? I think that (besides visually) one motor is for continuos running while the other is more precision/ momentary? This second one sounds like it would be great for switch operations...

Ah, that makes sense. Even little text updates such as this are much appreciated! Keep up the good work @coaster ! -
@Unfinished_Projects would you be able to just upscale the basic steam drivers...?

Yeah @coaster feel free to sprinkle this thread with details (a bit more often, plz & thnx) -
@paokus I meant no offense to you & your fabulous design... just merely looking at it from a more grounded perspective. It’s difficult to design a decent train-related offering when the last few TLG ones have been... okayyy at best (imho). My suggestion for your build is to maybe make the rail & road sections reversible— so people can have either an elevated rail for trains or an overpass for cars. As for all train-related Ideas Projects, Best of Luck to You!!
-
@Digger of Bricks That one looks neat, but how do we get the trains up to that higher elevation...?
